  1. https://donhk.wordpress.com/2019/08/17/disable-memory-compression-in-windows-10/
  2. I should mention that simming tends to form a lot of bad habits for a RW pilot . Clearing turns , ATC , VFR altitudes , preflighting and emergency procedures as examples .
  3. I keep thinking about that 3.4 gb free on your C drive ... Have you tried moving your pagefile to the 1TB drive ?
  4. Sad thing is you can't buy one at that price anyway...figure $3k minimum . Even sadder to hear Bitmaster leaving DCS , and potentially this forum .
  5. I'm sure there is a point to this post ...
  6. I have a Rift S (and before that a CV1) i previously ran on a 1070 . It was overall a great experience , but i felt greatly the inability to sharpen the image via DCS pd . For that reason , i question the 1080's ability to handle the Q2's pixel count - although it should be noted that HP recommends the 1080 as the minimum for the slightly-higher res Reverb . More to the point in your decision-making process , you should consider your use-case . If you play VR games as well as sims , perhaps the stand-alone capability of the Quest would benefit . Another consideration would be your (unspecified) cpu . I understand that the encoding necessary to compress the video for usb-cable transmission adds a significant cpu burden . Finally , FB has shown little love for the S since its introduction , reserving all development efforts for the Q and Q2 . In fact , i read just today that S manufacture has discontinued . If all this sounds ambivalent , it is because i have no dog in your fight , and merely wish to provide such pros and cons as i am aware .
  7. As much as i hate to say it , our access to VR prolly wouldn't exist without FB . The Rift prolly couldn't have been brought to the mass market without Zuck's cash . I note also that Oculus Rift , Rift S , and Q2 alone account for > 50% of total Steam VR users . So yes , in spite of my distaste for FB , their efforts have been good for VR .
  8. That system as is will run DCS just fine-at 1080p and medium-to-low settings . Download and enjoy DCS now , and decide on upgrades later .
  9. Have you tried here ? https://www.winwing.cn/en/download
  10. VR Optician lenses are absolutely worth the money if only for the additional comfort , and not worrying about scratching your headset or glasses lenses . They may well solve your problem as well . However , all headsets have a "sweet spot" , a smaller area within the viewing field that is well-focused . This sweet spot is sized differently on different headsets , areas outside it are more blurry , and this may well be what you are experiencing . In short , get used to moving your head .
  11. The only reason i fly another sim is for the 339 . Love me some straight-wing jets ! When it comes to DCS , i'll drop that other sim like a hot rock .
  12. Yeah , i am aware of the implicit forum bias regarding problems , but the percentage of defective units on these and other forums seems high even accounting for that . I actually built my system with the G2 in mind , but am being put off by the fact that HP can't seem to spec a cable .
  13. This may give you an idea... https://vkbcontrollers.com/?p=10082
  14. I have until January to replace my Rift S . I hope to see a G2-res headset without the QC and WMR problems launch before then .
  15. I know nothing about running DCS on mobile . But i did read that Starlink is available now at least in northern GB .
  16. I know the feeling regarding paying too much for a graphics card ! But it's a relief having one regardless . I wonder if you wouldn't be better off upgrading your memory rather than cpu . Say 32gb of 3200-3600 dram ?
  17. Same here . I hate the thought of losing my RiftS next Jan , but Facebook is getting even more creepy than it has been .
  18. Perhaps this will help...
  19. Exactly right . 1024x768 is the Windows default , not a "recommendation" .
  20. If your 2070 has the horsepower to do so , try increasing the pd in the dcs vr tab . I run 1.4 , which makes quite a difference . Also be sure "resolution of cockpit displays is set to 1024 . You may have to lower some other graphics settings to accommodate these two , particularly pd .
  21. Thanks for pointing that out . Now you mention it , it IS the first explosion that causes the stutter . Interesting .
  22. Yeah , tough time to need a graphics card...and will be at least all this year , if not longer imo .
  23. Yes , i am experiencing the same . Even an explosion out of sight will cause severe shot-term stutter .
  24. Yep . Just as you said is how it works .
