I see you're running TrackIr . Conventional thought is that TiR should run at multiples of 60hz refresh to avoid micro-stuttering . So running at 120 hz should eliminate TiR microstuttering AND give you some headroom to possibly eliminate "flickers and slight hiccups" .

I think generally your performance does not reflect the card's potential . Using a RiftS , my DCS settings are incomparably higher , including pd 1.4 and msaax2 . Several others higher as well . Can't help much with troubleshooting , as i'm new to the 6800xt myself , but you almost certainly have a setup or Windows/Adrenalin settings issue .

I do not see gpu's becoming more affordable this year . Between crypto , covid , pent-up demand and scalpers bot-purchasing what little stock remains , it is not gonna happen . I'd say if you can get a card for "only" a 25-30% premium , you're doing very well in today's market .

Yeah , i just replaced the 1070 that fed my Rift S for a year , and a CV1 before that . All i can say is the new gpu will be worth it when you get there .

Anyone know of a good guide to Adrenalin , or can recommend settings for a Rift S and an RX6800XT ?

What settings should i change from default ? Running a Rift S , 6800xt , 9700k . Anyone know of a good reference to learn Adrenalin ?

Not much you can do regarding "screen door" beyond replacing the headset . Other candidates include the Rift S (much better , but still discernable SD ) , and the Quest 2 ., with which I have no experience . Both of these can be had for half the cost of a G2 , and the S in particular does not require the pc horsepower of the G2 .

Just replaced the 1070 that ran my Rift S for a year . I consider the 1070 to be barely adequate , with no headroom for SS at the DCS settings i used . Enjoy it until you can upgrade to something better .

So installed a 6800xt . Went to MSI for drvers , and couldn't find one for it . Should I download from AMD's site ?

Thank you . This thread has been mooted as i now have a Trio inbound . Paid too much , but a 1070 in vr is both awesome and painful , and i doubt gpu's will get real any time soon . Had i not already promised it to a grandson , i could sell the 1070 for more than i paid for it new !

You would be better off to post this in the DCS 2.5/Bugs and problems subforum . You will get much more help there . Try deleting your saved games/DCS/fxo and metashaders files . They will rebuild on your next DCS boot , requiring a little extra time . Maybe you'll get lucky , but that log is worrisome . You can also run a DCS repair . Judging by that log , you may have to re-install DCS , forgoing user mods entirely .

No need to worry about a performance loss . The VR mirror on a monitor does not require any further resources from the gpu , and the monitor is useful for housekeeping , DCS repairs , supporting software setup and the like . I don't really get the advantage (to the consumer) of a KF cpu . The difference in price is negligible , and dealing with a borked driver or correcting an overclocking error or hardware problem without the onboard video is problematic at best . The only advantage is to Intel , who can sell a defective chip they otherwise would have to trash .

Thanks . As far as i know , Newegg US does not allow preorders . They do have an "auto-notify" of stock , but that's no help against the scalper's bots . And trying the UK site automatically gives me the US one .

MOOTED So like many others , i am mightily frustrated by gpu availability . I'm having no luck finding an RX pre-order (US) option . I even seriously considered paying a scalper price for one , only to find that there is no warranty if I went that route . (Edit : It appears this does not apply to MSI , which has a transferable warranty, but i would prefer an AMD-only card maker) . I am signed up for the EVGA notification queue , but i really don't want a 3080 . Anyone know where i can preorder or sign up for a notification queue for an RX 6000 series gpu ?

How is your far vision ? Vr headests are focused to about 6 feet if i recall correctly . To answer one question , the G2 is reported to offer near-equivalency to a 1080p monitor in terms of clarity . I do not have any experience with WMR headsets , so cannot be of much help .

Let's start with the simplest possibility . Did you remove the lens protectors on setup ? You wouldn't be the first to forget !

This crash should not have happened . The Collings foundation was very highly regarded for its professionalism , and the PIC had more B17 experience than anyone . Still , the pilot made multiple errors , the foundation was unable to adequately maintain the aircraft , and a general sense of complacency regarding passenger safety resulted in tragedy . It may be time to re-examine the "keeping them flying via passenger revenue stream " business model , and to reconsider whether keeping such a large , complex aircraft safely flying at all is realistic for a private organisation . Sad , really , as no one loves the sound of radials more than I !

I'm currently running a 1070 and a Rift S . Do i want more ? Absolutely ! But the experience right now is still mind-blowing , even after 2 years in DCS VR .

I'll second all of that , and add that you can shut down the utility as soon as you see the DCS "logging in" screen .
