  1. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I like the information your providing. I must go back and look at that newsletter. Certainly missed that ! thanks again.
  2. The AH-64D manual says "The DTU sub-page allows the crew to read from and write to the data transfer cartridge (DTC). Currently this format is non-functional" I expect I am not alone in seeing that the DTU would/could be useful to DCS Mission makers and players alike. It could allow all sorts of data to be loaded into the Apache that could improve the player experience. Route details, loaded weight, targets, maps, and "other graphical control measures to enhance situational awareness are loaded into the aircraft via the DTU and displayed on the TSD" I am curious to know if the further development of the AH-64D might see or will see the availability loading some type of DTU package to support these sort of functions in game. Anyone know? Can ED comment? Really enjoying the Apache and the challenge of learning the Aircraft and its systems just like to say thank you to ED developers and the supporting SMEs.
  3. Yes it is. The things I would like to see in this context are: 1/ DCS ability to backup all controller profiles for all aircraft with one button press, and / or ; 2/ DCS ability to backup all controller profiles for ONE specified aircraft with one button press, plus 3/ Virpil's VPC Configuration Tool - that the tool advises the configuration (eg: config file name) currently loaded on the controller. (I only have a few DCS Aircraft so its practical for me to avoid this problem by using a different colour code in the CM3 LED buttons - so I can tell I have the F/A-18C loaded vs the Apache AH-64D etc - but more modules would make this impractical) And, unrelated to DCS, but in IL2 the ability to download (hence save) and upload (restore) profiles at all. Maybe one day.
  4. @Raptor9 Thank you so much for your reply. I have been experimenting a bit .... if one does the boresight procedure using the Cockpit Camera Move commands to get the rings centered and then deliberately sets the HMD cross hairs off to (say) the right (rather than centered over the bullseye) before pressing the boresight now button .....its not good ! The resulting IHADSS Symbology shows the Field of View set well off to the right even though the pilot is looking ahead. Setting the cross hairs correctly results in the "Field of View" box being centrally located in the "Field of Regard" box and it aligns with the pilots direction of sight. I think that if the TrackIR / Delanclip or whatever head tracking is subsequently (ie: after boresighting and correctly setting the HMD crosshairs) adjusted to move the pilots head position, such adjustment has no effect on the HMD cross hairs / boresight accuracy and field of view box position. Is that correct?
  5. @BIGNEWY A questions if I could trouble you..... in a hot start the system boresight is already setup, at the commencement of a hot start the system knows nothing about the crosshair position of your HMD since there was no HMD .... yet it sets the boresight anyway. The HMD crosshairs move due to physical head movement as communicated by the TrackIR. TRackIR has zero input to the games boresight setup? So the HMD crosshairs really have no impact on boresighting accuracy ? The only thing that matters from an accuracy standpoint is the cockpit camera head position (controlled by the in game setting) that results in getting the circles equidistant?
  6. Firstly, apologies to everyone who has already responded with answers here. In reading the thread I just did not understand the Track IR to IHADSS boresight relationship. I use a DELANCLiP with OpenTrack (so similar to Track IR). I have no experience with VR. I see most folk say that there no relationship between TIR and Boresighting In trying to understand I found some, to me anyway, good information in other threads . This helped me understand. I have included this detail here in-case its helps other people like me: Firstly there is a good thread with more detail explaining Boresighting and Track IR here : https://forum.dcs.world/topic/300729-pilot-gun-aim-is-way-off-after-cold-start-hot-start-is-fine-tracks-included/ So head position adjustment by TIR (or Delanclip or whatever) is separate. That said, as BIGNEWY says "the point I am trying to make especially for users who have headtracking is to ensure your physical head position is also calibrated with your headtracking, before doing the AH-64D boresight procedure" When boresighting one adjusts the head position in the Apache using the game's commands. See Northstar98 comment here https://forum.dcs.world/topic/295125-boresight-with-3dof-head-tracking/
  7. That is good news. Pleased for you.
  8. I have the Gunfighter Mk.III Modern Combat Edition Ultimate and its a great stick, but its software, not so much. I use Virpil's software on the CM3 Throttle and its superior software I reckon. Plus better support. @Munkwolf @dburne Absolutely! .... I too export the controller's profile's from DCS to a suitable folder on my PC as backup. It is really worth doing. Its only a matter of time before I need to restore a profile. I keep profiles for each controller in a separate folder for each aircraft. I increment the file name like " 012 VKB MCG DCS Hornet FA18C.diff.lua " Makes it easy to keep them in order.
  9. Fixed: Laser rangefinder desync Fixed: Radios allow invalid frequencies to be entered. Fixed: TADS range value is incorrect if exceeds maximum range Fixed: LASE # TRGT LOAL message error Fixed: Rapid LRFD operations produce issue Fixed: TADS STOW - LMC ERROR Fixed: WPN -> ASE -> unASE = TSD, should be WPN full change log lists many additions and improvements too: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.7.15.26783/
  10. Such a shame. But the use of friction as a means of control is suboptimal. Plus wear will necessitate ongoing adjustment (as reported by others) The counterbalance mod by @SunDevilPilot https://forum.dcs.world/topic/280757-virpil-collective-base-plus-had-to-increase-friction-after-2-weeks-use/?do=findComment&comment=4987773 is the solution.... with this, plus Hovacs alternative means of connecting the cable, I reckon the Virpil Collective would be terrific. But its pretty silly, especially at the price this is sold, that its necessary to modify it to this extent, to get it to work properly. Speaking of mods HavocCompanyClan did a video October 2021, talking about his resolution / avoidance of a cable problem with the Virpil collective. This link takes starts the video right at the part he explains this https://youtu.be/woRekRshynU?t=598 well worth doing too.
  11. @dburne Saw your post on Virpils Site too " unless things improve with it over the next few days I will likely go back to using my Virpil CM3 Throttle as collective also" If your going to persevere with the collective I reckon the counterbalance mod by @SunDevilPilot earlier in this post https://forum.dcs.world/topic/280757-virpil-collective-base-plus-had-to-increase-friction-after-2-weeks-use/?do=findComment&comment=4987773 is the solution The RAM mount and Ball is here: https://www.rammount.com/shop-all/motorcycle/components This is the stabilizer's web site https://www.hi-teksports.com/home @SunDevilPilot Can you provide any extra detail about the stabilizer you used - its not on the HI-TEK web site (I guess its an older model) - specifically weight, length. Also what size is the RAM® Tough-Claw™ Clamp Base with Ball that you used? @dburne Maybe send SunDevilPilots photo over to HI-TEK and they can advise you what the equivalent is.
  12. Well that is a terrific mod ! Zero damage to the collective, easy to fit with available parts. That Ram brand has some terrific equipment.... I use it myself for automotive stuff. Yours is a good idea for sure - thanks for sharing.
  13. The Alpha L grip is a great idea... good of @sirrah to suggest it... I reckon for the Apache it is a better choice anyway.
  14. Sorry for my stupid question, I have searched and not found, where in the documentation do I find this ?
  15. @Horns VKB have a Youtube video that shows what to do and it seems to be the latest information (other YT videos are 3+ years old) https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vkb+gunfighter+change+springs You just have to go slowly thru the video. Least thats what I found, since there is no voice over, just writing on screen, I had to keep stopping and starting and rewinding the video so I could read the text and watch what VKB was doing both. But it does explain what to do and I got there in the end.
  16. I think, if Early Access modules Super Carrier, F/A-18C and AH-64D are typical then DCS Early Access modules are significantly better than many other game manufacturers final product.
  17. I agree about VKB in Australia... they are very helpful and professional. It is such a nice experience especially when contrasted by the rubbish that many other companies pass off as being service.
  18. Seems lots of folk think that... but it depends on the dampener... https://youtu.be/kFTfDaeopJM?t=32
  19. The solution is OK, there is another one using a damper too. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/282447-rotor-tcs-plus-damper-mod/ I wrote to Virpil asking about the problem and suggested solutions. They said: "Currently, we're not aware about such issue, and it shouldn't be needed to extremely tighten the collective" Obviously untrue, given that Virpil themselves are addressing folk with this problem on their own forum. But clearly it ain't going to be covered by "warranty" since the problem doesn't exist.
  20. @Str][ker Thanks for posting that. I thought it was me. @AstonMartinDBS Thank you for your work around. I don't understand why they say 6 7 enter then they say 6 7 X . Nor that this is already selected (is that what the : symbol indicating) and why the display blanks out
  21. Thank you for posting this - and plus your idea about renaming the file (in another of your posts) "What I do for the User Campaigns that I have, is edit their names, so that all the Campaigns of a certain aircraft end up grouped together" is great. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/292585-authorization-failed-user-downloaded-campaigns/?do=findComment&comment=4887706. Most appreciated.
  22. This is excellent advice. Thank you.
  23. "There are 20 pushbuttons (PB) on the DDI which are used to select the function and the mode for proper indicator display. PB 1 is the lowest button on the left side, and then each PB button is numbered sequentially in a clockwise manner" according to DCS-FA-18C_Early_Access_Guide. I marked up this diagram from DCS FA-18C Hornet Guide - by CHUCK for my own uses so I figured I might as well post it here.
