  1. You could, probably still can, do that in Warbirds. Can't remember, but I'm pretty sure you could shoot chutes as well. For realism I think we should have chute shooting (not in any way a priority). If a plane crashes, we can shoot the pilot I think. For chuted pilots on the ground, everyone here has run over them with an airplane on ground. Historical note. Air Marshal Dowding, the commander in BoB, stated in effect, it would be ok for German pilots to shoot chutes over England but not okay for British pilots to do the same. Reasoning being that English pilots shot down over England would fight again while German pilots would become prisoners. The logic of warfare. In the event, chute shooting was next to non-existent on both sides because neither sides had the stomach for it. Source Len Deighton's book Fighter about the Battle of Britain.
  2. Pretty sure I blown engines by not warming up a year ago at least.
  3. Everybody loves offering their opinion so here's mine ... Tricycle planes are forgiving with landing speed vertical and forward. Taildraggers are not. If after landing with higher than stall speed the tail goes down for any reason, the AoA goes up and it will take off again. Tail can go down because of stick movement or it can go down because of the momentum associated with excess vertical speed. As other said... fly as low and slow as possible until 3 point touchdown. Also, do not have any side-slip, have ball centered, or it will swing.

  5. -1 Does anyone ever use the default assignments without changing anything? No. Does joystick, rudders & throttle usually get assigned sensibly? Yes How complex would it be to make every external controller on the market get the "correct" assignment? Impossible. What is the "correct" assignment? Varies person to person. Do we want ED to waste resources on something we always tailor for ourselves anyway? No.
  6. This is a near exact description of where I am. I gave up on UH-1 because i figured my hard Warthog spring was a real hindrance (until finding a softer spring solution). I'd want to fly planes as well as helicopter. Warthog needs a bit of spring force, it can't be totally springless. Removing / reinstalling the spring all the time just isn't an option. 1) Is it possible to fly helicopter well with the original Warthog spring? 2) If I spring for Sahaj's "green spring", is that soft enough for helicopter use? Or does it need to be softer still?
  7. Kept swiveling on ground until headed north to find out what direction X o'clock meant ...:music_whistling: When it said "abandoned Mi-8" I expected an actual Mi-8 on F10 map. Finding none, got insecure about correct direction. Converted km to nm to compare with ruler distance. I do think starting out from a hospital / Farp the direction given would not be X o'Clock, it would be a heading/distance or better a grid coordinate (*1). In real life maybe "river bend 1 km south of village X", but this would be really complicated AI to program. ~ *1) Come to think of it, not actually knowing, a grid coordinate seems something that might be how they do it in real life. For a helicopter with fixed stationing at least, coordinate maps would be prepared.
  8. Don't have P-47 but ... they should just copy the P-51 mechanism. Small steps, hold down, goes faster. Copy this to Spitfire as well and all ED Warbirds. Simple and works well.
  9. Link this inside a top sticky in every bug report forum: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=147710 Make it easily available. Even though I had bookmarked it, I forgot where to find it or even having bookmarked it.
  10. Edit top post to include link to this. Iteration of exactly what is asked for in bug threads: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=147710 Do this in every bug forum top sticky.
  11. Warning and indicator lights, gauges are fine.
  12. I was about to say I'm not so sure a longer patch cycle will lead to better results. It would mean ED getting feedback on bugs once a month instead of every week. It would mean ED taking less advantage of the free resource of community error reporting (such as it is:unsure:). I understand there is a lot of well defined cockpit color palette errors (like the Spitfire cockpit, the Su-33 and more), the carrier deck. A continuation of this: Neither critical but annoying, was half counting on a fix this week. Seems like low hanging fruit (obvious and effortlessly repeatable).
  13. Compass heading would be more useful than X o'clock. Both would be good.
  14. 30 Knot is the highest that Mission Editor accepts. Set 30 knots all way points, get 26 knots. Set 27 knots all way points, get 26 knots. (I confused myself above, I meant 26 when saying 25)
  15. Did you ask the player? Somethings up with damage reporting to clients. I saw a P-47 rolling with one gear in air. Player was not damaged on his client. I was told my P-51 was aflame with rear empennage missing. It wasn't (interestingly I probably had some minor invisible damage from dragging tail over carrier edge).
  16. Saw it few days ago. Real slow below deck level. Pull up, cobra'ish last second, pancake down. A crapshoot. Interestingly (or not), M2000 seems real easy to "cobra" land on carrier. Not even using it's chute. F-15 need extreme cobra.
  17. Yes I did. Is 25 knot top speed?
  18. Confirm. Graphical error since X patches back. Maybe since first release 2.5.6. Tie-down points? Open Beta 2.5.6.50793
  19. This guy kept his career. https://books.google.se/books?id=zm0jDgAAQBAJ&pg=PA75&lpg=PA75&dq=spitfire+land+carrier+hookless&source=bl&ots=6P7crCtx6J&sig=ACfU3U3swoYV0GT0jO5BwYkW6Ru7MWibKw&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiUw_b0qvHpAhXPOpoKHRFPC3EQ6AEwEnoECAgQAQ#v=onepage&q=spitfire%20land%20carrier%20hookless&f=true Hand-typed abbreviated.
  20. About that. I set 30 knots (in Mission Editor) but it only ever does 25 knots. Am I missing something? I assumed 25 knots is Carrier top speed.
  21. It's not new behavior (not entirely anyway). There's been a difference ground and air "always" (key or Push-to-Talk) since I got DCS 2018. It depends on server (realism?) settings though. - Hoggit training server (Caucasus) "\" works on ground, Push-to-talk works in air (realism?). Ed/add: confused myself, PTT works both gnd & air. -Aerobatic server. Only "\" works, on ground or in air (easy Comm settings?).
  22. Remade track because noted it flies into water (after patch?). Updated opening post (deleted old track, kept old screenshot). Now Stennis at zero knots. Spitfire Repair CV.trk
  23. Top right menu, yes (refuel / rearm / ATC works). "version": "2.5.6.50793" Try different server and offline. Track, the shorter the better. Make sure it's a "clean" install, no mods in main folder and force a new Saved Games (rename is simplest). Advantage of pristine Saved Games is also, you'll know for certain it's not a messed up key binding. Make track offline, so it isn't the Channel terrain. The menu's will operate visibly in a track. If track doesn't work for other people then we'll know it's a bug of some kind.
  24. It works for me (Caucasus and offline). Again, I can Refuel / Rearm / ATC from it. Copied from "Make HTML", so we are talking about the same thing. Make a track so other people can run and verify.
  25. When spawning Spitfire in Aerobatics Online server you get 4 preset radio channels 38, 39, 40, 41. A Mission Editor setting. No airfield on the Caucasus map uses 38.0. I hate facebook with a vengeance so not posting there.
