Sounds like you may be misunderstanding the function of the RWR. It is a Radar Warning Receiver, not a sensor (well, it is a purely passive sensor). It picks up and displays radar emissions from any emitters pointed at you. Our Night Attack Harrier has no radar and won’t emit anything. The RWR also cannot pick up targets that are not painting us with radar, only an active sensor like a radar can do that.

I too won’t purchase any more Razbam modules until the Harrier is complete. Although slow it is coming along nicely and it’s one of my favorite modules, so I hope the Strike Eagle turns out great and doesn’t delay the Harrier from being done in the process.

A few more axis options would be really appreciated
kengou replied to Shepherd's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I would be against unrealistic implementations like this because it would give the player finer control over the trim than the real jet pilot would have. We should have an accurate simulation, Including shortcomings and quirks of the real plane. -
How to use GBU12 without onboard FLIR and with JTAC laser???
kengou replied to jimblue74's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
If you know the jtac has the laser on, and the gbu is set with the correct laser code and fuse (no x on the stores page), then you’re ready to go. There’s no way to see what the gbu sensor head sees like on the Maverick. You just need to know where the target is visually and drop there using auto or ccip. For auto, you can designate a target using coordinates from jtac or using hud designation. -
Holy necro batman

I would be fine with the "hey what are you doing?!" voice file being played when a pilot strays too far from the directions of the ground crew, or collides with anybody, but otherwise still ghosts through the ground crew. Or maybe, ground crew just runs out of the way when they might be about to be hit. Many games do that kind of thing.

Pilots that both F16 & F18 using Warthog HOTAS
kengou replied to kmaultsby's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I definitely try to map each plane accurately to the Hotas layout of that plane as much as possible. Each plane has its own control quirks, good or bad, and I want to experience that difference between each aircraft. It’s really not hard to jump into the controls options and click all my buttons to remember what they do, before jumping into any particular plane. -
The tpod is not needed at all once the target points are in the system. On the cas page, hit the use button and select a number using the ufc. This enables it as a target point. Then, when you select jdams, the option screen shows the targets you can select from. Selecting those targets for the JDAM correspond to the target points from the f10 map and will let you drop jdams on the selected targets right away. That’s all you need to do.

Zeus has said this will be implemented.

FLIR rendering has not yet caught up to the update to DCS 2.5. It's in the pipelineto be updated. I hope in 2020.

I'm happy to help if you're confused about the implementation in DCS. It's somewhat confusing to load in mark points from the map, for sure. As to your concerns, I can't say I've ever had the INS "crap out" in the Harrier, but even if it does, isn't that what the GPS system is for, to correct for INS drift? I doubt this is a big concern in real life and it should be no concern at all in DCS. In any event, there is a backup bomb sight for most bombs, haven't checked if it's implemented in JDAM yet, I believe it's the "SITE" toggle on the Stores MFD when the bomb is selected.

I’d much rather essential avionics functions be implemented like cursor zero before we get more weapons, personally. I imagine the weapons will be fairly easy to port over from the Hornet once thats done.
-
It’s static for me as well, I assume it’s not implemented yet.

Does the F/A-18C module come with a campaign etc.?
kengou replied to TheCabal's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Not really sure what you mean. The Hornet comes with a mini campaign and dozens of single missions. There are also multiple high quality user campaigns that can be played for free. It’s got a ton of content. -
Air-to-air it's not bad right now. It has all major radar modes and they function alright. Datalink and IFF work. It just needs the radar gunsight implemented. It's really fun to fly around and fight. Air-to-ground, it has a targeting pod but it's pretty barebones and lacking features, which will lead to negative training. It can lase for LGBs. It has CBU-97s which are fun weapons, but is limited on fuzing and height options. No Mavericks, HARMs, or JSOW/JDAM yet. No HTS pod. I also find that steerpoints can get really screwed up sometimes since there's no cursor zero function implemented (really vital feature for TPOD use). Generally I'd say Viper is not worth it for air-to-ground right now. Out of combat, she flies nicely, navigation is fine although some DED features are missing. Takeoff and landing are fine. Cold start works with a few omissions. Radio functions work. For air-to-air or general flight, F-16 is pretty fun and works well enough. For air-to-ground, I find it the bugs or omissions of features/weapons to be a big detriment.

New trends in aviation - The Excalibur Optionally Manned UCAV System
kengou replied to bies's topic in Military and Aviation
Looking through their website this seems like a sci-fi fantasy. They claim it's capable of over mach 3 but the shape has almost straight forward edge wings and looks nothing like any other high mach vehicle aerodynamically. They have some sort of "photonic" radar that renders enemy RWR "obsolete" and is "jam-proof". Their business model is "free" aircraft to all NATO countries. I hope nobody thinks this is a real aircraft or a legitimate company? -
At the bottom of the Litening pod view while testing the new JDAMs (love 'em by the way!) I notice new symbology at the bottom, a line of text that looks mostly like zeroes. I haven't noticed it changing or populating with any other numbers yet. Can anybody shed light on this? Can't find anything about it in the TAC manual.
-
Makes sense if you think about it. Harrier has no fly by wire so it should require constant adjustments. Trim reduces the workload but not 100%.
-
Yes it will
-
No, the Hornet has no built in laser tracker.
-
In addition to Nikola's advice, you may also have the JTAC mark the target with smoke and use CCIP or HUD designation for Auto mode.
-
I would love a Rafale but I fear it's too new/classified to be simulated accurately.
-
Care to elaborate? Real military pilots, e.g. Jello from Fighter Pilot Podcast, have said they hear that's exactly how they filmed it. And he's clearly in a real jet in a lot of those scenes doing real G's. You think he's in the front seat? No way in hell. Edit: Behind the scenes video confirm it.

F-16 Fire Control Radar Elevation
kengou replied to flyingace's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Manual ranging and antenna elevation are the same control. Are you running open beta or stable? I believe this was fixed in open beta. -
There were announcements of discounts for F/A-18 owners in the past, haven't seen anything recently about it.
