  1. It's a shame, when I first tried the Mirage I was pleasantly surprised at such a basic but useful feature of the HUD, and bewildered that so many other planes I've simulated flying do not have it. My understanding is that Super Hornets and Lightnings do it now, at least in landing configuration, not sure what else.
  2. My first impressions are that this is a good start, and fun to fly and land, but seemingly faced a rushed release. I think it was a mistake by ED to release it with so many known bugs, and especially without a damage model or radar gunsight. The RWR sounds, radar elevation axis, fuel flow, air refueling, external lights, and many more bugs, should have been working right out of the gate because they're core parts of the plane. I hope ED takes to heart the mixed first impressions to this release, especially from prominent youtubers, and works quickly to squash bugs and implement vital core features of the plane to get it to the state the Hornet launched in.
  3. He may be referring to other F-16 sims when he says that.
  4. Reading about the CAS page more and I am learning just why the Marines love the Harrier for CAS so much. The plane receives the 9-line brief via datalink direct to the CAS page, the HUD flashes to alert of incoming messages and "cleared hot" or "abort", and the flight members can send data with simple button pushes like "departing initial point". This is in my mind one of the key features and advantages of the Harrier platform, and why I've heard many Marines say it is much more user-friendly and efficient for CAS than even the F-35. I imagine that a lot of the implementation of this would be out of Razbam's hands and down to core game features like JTAC and datalink communication. But it would really sadden me if we never got to experience this part of the Harrier's capabilities. I would like to propose an alternative solution and maybe others can share their suggestions on how to implement this. Perhaps the plane's avionics can at least be enabled such that a mission editor can script things like 9-line messages appearing, or HUD messages flashing, to sort of artificially fake these things as if they were coming from an interactive FAC on the ground (that may or may not even exist in the mission). Much like how a scripted training mission can do things like failures or change MFD pages. I hope this would be possible.
  5. Understood... I'll refuel next time to experience that :) But I will still stick with 2 bags and tpod+gunpod on the centerline station so I don't flip upside down every time I try to bank and pull.
  6. Second time went much better. I ordered wingmen to attack air defenses then flew offset for a little bit until they began engaging targets before my run-in. Bombs were spectacularly on-target and I bugged out. Very satisfying! One problem is on ingress to Waypoint 5, I try to locate the target using my TPOD, and am unable to do so; I look around the field right next to the waypoint, which matches the briefing recon photos, but no targets are visible. Only when I get much closer do they show up nearby. Is this a draw distance limitation or something? Second, the asymmetric TPOD/fuel tank loadout is REALLY wonky with the jet's flight model (I'm not convinced it's fully accurate but that's a different discussion). I have no trouble editing the loadout to be two fuel tanks and a centerline TPOD instead. Didn't even need to refuel on the way back with so much extra. Just curious why you went with asymmetric loadout instead and if you might consider changing it.
  7. Who fragged a strike mission against a SAM-defended target without any SEAD support?! I tried out this mission and took a missile to the face on my bombing run, even after ordering my wingmen to engage air defenses. Oh well, I'll try it out again soon.
  8. Confirmed bug, no response from the devs yet by the look of things. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=248766
  9. I would be very surprised if CAT I/III wasn't included on day 1. It's a pretty important part of the FLCS. It was also included day 1 in the Hornet, and is there now (not sure why you think it isn't). No reason to suspect it won't be there. Weather damage would be interesting but that's a big feature, it is probably a long way off sadly.
  10. I've played other sims that are not allowed to be mentioned on this forum that feature better AI, yes. One popular mod in particular.
  11. If it was not a capability of the real hornet to instantly switch the elevation to any altitude, I don't see how they could implement it. The avionics software is likely designed only to work with continuous movement up or down of the antenna elevation, via a spring-loaded centering switch. For what its worth, the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle (a very popular one) is almost 1:1 modeled on the Hornet throttle in button layout, and has an up-down switch on the front in the correct location. It's a button, not an axis, but works great. I think any two-way button or hat switch should do the job perfectly fine on any throttle. No need for an axis at all.

    Walleye

It really should be, based on real life, as that is how many walleyes were guided in Vietnam because of a shortage of data-link pods.
  13. Cabin fogging is not modeled in the sim right now at all, which is a shame. Pitot icing is definitely modeled on most planes. I've had flights on the A-10C where I forgot the pitot heat and halfway through a mission ended up getting screwy speed and altitude readings. I have yet to test it on the Hornet though.

    Walleye

Can the Walleye track a moving vehicle in autonomous delivery?
  15. Definitely want to see this. Based on training documents I’ve seen, tone is a required part of the fence in check.
  16. So far, I'm finding the MiG-15 to be a challenge. Really instills good energy management and awareness around you.
  17. Are you pulling the stick back to deflect the stabs for aerobraking?
  18. I believe is means deck is clear to begin landing operations?
  19. I believe the answer is no, and very few modern planes allow this because at BVR ranges, this would make tracking of targets extremely difficult during maneuvers. Every small change in attitude would be a massive change to the radar cone at 50+ miles out. In fact I'm struggling to think of how this would ever be useful at those ranges. It's useful WVR, and that's why it is included in the special modes functions for ACM.
  20. Just tried this one out and really enjoyed it. The comms were great as well as the feeling of being part of a larger package. Here's some feedback: JTAC gives coordinates in UTM which is not functional in the Harrier at this time. Can you change it to Lat-Long? Yes, I know the target is lased at Waypoint 5, and I was able to find it, but it would still be useful to verify the target. In my initial run-in I was unable to spot the laser with my LST, and aborted for another pass. JTAC called "Abort abort abort". I re-did the calls for IP Inbound, Spot, etc., and during that sequence I got a call from the tower directing me to landing. I guess a trigger got mixed up somewhere? I finished prosecuting the target and headed back to base, got a message to dump stores if required, then heard nothing else from the tower including freqs. Could flight plan and target altitudes be included in the briefings? Minor bugs really and I was able to complete the mission and enjoyed it a lot. I'll be trying it again.
  21. Check out the HQ improved mission editor: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=237858
  22. Missiles that behave as you describe and switch to STT once close to the target are Fox 3 missiles by definition. A Fox 1 missile must be launched in STT because it rides the radar signal from the launching plane all the way to target. If it loses that signal it loses guidance (excepting Flood modes). A radar in TWS mode isn't emitting a strong enough signal illuminating the target for the missile to get guidance from it, since it has to split its beam to track other contacts as well.
  23. Mavericks are very effective too of course. Can’t carry quite as many as GBU-12 though.
  24. Use Sensor Select switch in the direction of the DDI on which the TGP is open. That should toggle area and point track.
  25. Flashing crosshair on the Maverick display generally means you are not in launch parameters. Try to get the cross close to the center of the Maverick display until the cross is not flashing.
