  1. Everything in the F-16 is still in beta, let's start there. It's entirely possible there are bugs. But it may also be user error, so let's get some more info. The F-16's radar displays both ownship tracks and datalink tracks. Tracks which can be locked are those your own radar sees, and those have a white brick visible. No white brick: it's datalink, and you cannot lock it. If it has no white brick, try changing the antenna elevation to hunt for it. Are you unable to lock an ownship track using TMS up?
  2. From the sounds of things, above a certain weight, mil power or afterburner is likely necessary to maintain on speed AoA. The jet really isn’t designed to land like that... at least dump some fuel first. Nobody would land with such a heavy load.
  3. The Thrustmaster TWCS throttle is a good facsimile as long as you’re ok with no dual throttles or detents. I love mine.
  4. I doubt they would do that, wait for a sale when each Fc3 plane is $10 and just finish out the collection with whatever you want.
  5. These symptoms mean your AOA is too high. So you’re losing speed in the turn or you’re pulling too hard.
  6. Not yet implemented, like so many things.
  7. In my opinion both these things are probably a ways off.
  8. Stability Augmentation System. Three switches by the throttle control this system in 3 channels: pitch, roll, yaw. They reduce oscillations and instability in flight controls. Roll SAS can be a hindrance in maneuvering situations like BFM and should be turned off.
  9. If it disables spak, is this function designed for something like emergency stall recovery? Not sure why I would want to do this in normal flight. I've had it bound to the ATT/HOJD and it's somewhat handy, but not enough to necessarily justify a joystick button.
  10. Would you mind posting the checklist you created? Would be very cool to take a look.
  11. Right now with the AIM-120, you can launch at around 15 miles, crank, and pump (retreat) before 8 miles and be safe with a good chance of hitting with your missile. Honestly even at fairly close ranges you can split-S and retreat from the enemy missile and you will survive even from fairly close ranges. Notching and countermeasures work probably too well in DCS vs modern missiles.
  12. My most wanted would be the Apache but I doubt it, because of the rotary team having plenty on their plate already right now. The F-15C is definitely possible and I would love to have it. The only other possibilities I can think of would be century series fighters. We have zero of them right now. Super Saber, Thud, or Starfighter would all be really cool.
  13. I keep a collection of my own button mapping graphics for my HOTAS setup, for each module. Easy enough to make with a drawing program. Definitely helps to plan my mappings and keep track of things.
  14. I think only manual is implemented right now, which tells you when you’re in range, then you just hit pickle button yourself.
  15. To expand on Harker's answer, you can reduce the number of bars from 4 to 2 to improve the chances of tracking the contact, as well as increasing the brick fadeout time under the DATA submenu. In RWS with LTWS turned on, one click with TDC depress over a target gets you launch and steering info on that target, but it doesn't STT lock it so it can get lost like any contact if your settings aren't ideal. Depressing again will put you in STT, which reduces situational awareness and spikes the target, but you'll drastically reduce your chances of losing the contact.
  16. Not implemented yet.
  17. I believe you need to change the profile on the Virpil software for each grip change, but it's pretty quick to do.
  18. Most weapons and systems we have are mostly complete but still need some features added. There's LGBs, JDAM, JSOW, HARM, Harpoon, Walleye, Maverick E and F, unguided bombs, CBUs, and rockets. We have Litening and HMCS and a mostly fully featured A2A radar, missing Az/el mode and some other small stuff. In terms of weapons we're missing: SLAM-ER, sea mines, firebombs. In terms of systems, we're missing ATFLIR, A2G HMCS functions, A2G radar, and a ton of Litening functions. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot but that's my quick and dirty summary.
  19. They definitely do, but not practiced very often.
  20. It's also important to understand how the trim works with the F/A-18 in landing configuration. The aircraft automatically attempts to hold its AOA in landing configuration. Trimming while in landing config changes the set AOA. So when you go gear down and flaps down, the aircraft is suddenly going to stop holding 1G and instead hold AOA, which means you need to slow down and trim to the correct AOA right away or you'll struggle to control it.
  21. I was having trouble until I figured out the right amount of back stick to pull: A lot of it! The whole aircraft should be shaking and vertical velocity should read -1 or -2 meters/second at the most, until you gain enough speed to start rising. It sure is stressful
  22. There would almost be too much to list... most ded and mfd pages are missing...
  23. They basically allow you to have two different preset air to air modes. It’s not implemented yet but each master mode should save the missile, radar, and mfd settings so you could set one up for long range, one for pop up threats, or whatever you like.
  24. Not in the real jet it isn’t, according to the early access manual. But you could bind the mfd button
  25. I like my VKB pedals. I don't fly warbirds a ton but I use a modifier for differential brakes when I do, works just fine. Feels amazing for helicopters though.
