  1. You know, you could load tracer ammo, instead of the standard loadout of SAPHEI w/o tracer... just a suggestion. That said: I also disagree with the OP - while the Hornet development sure slowed down a bit, they announced that clearly and openly months ago, since we now have a lot of bigger, more complicated systems to toggle. In the end we will benefit from the Viper in this regard, too, since a lot of development between those will go hand in hand. As announced, TWS will be in shortly, e.g., for both modules.
  2. Wow, it's almost as if this was day 1 of early access and is WIP
  3. Hey Nineline! Thanks for the heads-up - can you share an insight on how you use the TGP without bombs loaded, then? ***EDIT*** Now I get it, even with an INV of 0, it just needs to be CCRP. Gotcha! :)
  4. Okay? Is that true to RL? That doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
  5. So, I got RDR CURSOR Switch X and Y axis bound, and radar TDC slews nicely. TGP won't move one bit though (of course I checked SOI in both cases). Am I forgetting something, or does that need a different binding? Is there an axis for it? I got an image alright, but not movement. Thanks! :)
  6. We won't get the CBU-97, IRL USN / USMC Hornet didn't carry it.
  7. There was none, yesterday. The last stable patch was September, 10th.
  8. Hey Chuck, thanks for the update! Say, do you think it's possible that the latest version of your various guides could be posted on the guide-section frontpage on mudspike, so one can see at a glance which ones have changed and could use downloading? Just a minor thing. :)
  9. I stand corrected, thanks for the details :)
  10. I do have startup kneeboard checklists already prepared for the Viper, will probably upload once it's possible to upload user files for the module specifically ^^
  11. HOTAS controls in Navy birds are not as complex, it is modelled very nearly true to real life already, with a few missing things.
  12. Note the "initial".
  13. Which is ok, since the gfx overhaul will be free.
  14. Yeah, that is also wrong now, since they updated it to how it works in the real thing.
  15. I couldn't imagine anything more boring than heavies in DCS.
  16. Like I said numerous times: in the end we will profit from the high commonality of systems between the Hornet and Viper. I was willing to bet we will see TWS for both arrive at once, and should have. It doesn't matter ONE BIT at this point if systems engineers are switched for a short while, that's just the realities of software development. Both modules are progressing, end of story.
  17. Like Bignewy said: it's WIP and will change in due time.
  18. Thanks for your real-life insight, that is highly interesting! That I see things similar with regards to DCS is just the icing on the cake :D
  19. It is known. It doesn't. Full stop.
  20. Like I said: I am all for realistic options, I just don't feel that what we have is entirely unrealistic. As Sierra99 (being an SME better listen to him and not me, anyways :) ) said: there's little to no forces involved, with good reason. And because of that I still think what we we have is decently realistic. He may chime in more on that :)
  21. While I don't have a problem with AAR'ing either way, boom refueling already is a ton easier, for me, subjectively. I had it nailed earlier than the basket, because just like in real life it is basically formation flying and holding first and foremost.
  22. The MiG-19 has it too - I'm fairly certain we will see something similar in the Hornet and Viper, too, but there's a lot on their plate and only so much capacity to make it all happen in the sim at once.
  23. They stated a few times that we will see realistic basket physics in the future, but I'm too lazy to search for that now. I'm betting that will extend to boom refuelling, too. :) I think we may disagree on the "decently" :D
  24. That's what I mean by "more abstracted". Would it be nice if it was 100% like in real life? Of course, but we are not there yet and I simply described the way it's working *in DCS* right now. See above Now you are projecting - I'm pretty sure there is a will to do it as realistically as possible (see adding wake vortices a while back), but there is also only so much capacity to actually bring all these things to the sim. You see the whining that's happening already due to some entitlement-issue plagued users shedding a tear about the "abandoned F-18", so I simply figure this is rather low on the priorities list. We have a working AAR implementation both for boom and for basket refueling, that works decently realistic.
  25. The DLZ is the Dynamic Launch Zone, an area shown on the HSI inside of which you can drop your JDAM with it reaching the target based on it's programmed parameters, or in short: inside this zone you can drop your JDAMs and they will hit stuff.
