  1. I stand corrected, thanks for the details :)
  2. I do have startup kneeboard checklists already prepared for the Viper, will probably upload once it's possible to upload user files for the module specifically ^^
  3. HOTAS controls in Navy birds are not as complex, it is modelled very nearly true to real life already, with a few missing things.
  4. Note the "initial".
  5. Which is ok, since the gfx overhaul will be free.
  6. Yeah, that is also wrong now, since they updated it to how it works in the real thing.
  7. I couldn't imagine anything more boring than heavies in DCS.
  8. Like I said numerous times: in the end we will profit from the high commonality of systems between the Hornet and Viper. I was willing to bet we will see TWS for both arrive at once, and should have. It doesn't matter ONE BIT at this point if systems engineers are switched for a short while, that's just the realities of software development. Both modules are progressing, end of story.
  9. Like Bignewy said: it's WIP and will change in due time.
  10. Thanks for your real-life insight, that is highly interesting! That I see things similar with regards to DCS is just the icing on the cake :D
  11. It is known. It doesn't. Full stop.
  12. Like I said: I am all for realistic options, I just don't feel that what we have is entirely unrealistic. As Sierra99 (being an SME better listen to him and not me, anyways :) ) said: there's little to no forces involved, with good reason. And because of that I still think what we we have is decently realistic. He may chime in more on that :)
  13. While I don't have a problem with AAR'ing either way, boom refueling already is a ton easier, for me, subjectively. I had it nailed earlier than the basket, because just like in real life it is basically formation flying and holding first and foremost.
  14. The MiG-19 has it too - I'm fairly certain we will see something similar in the Hornet and Viper, too, but there's a lot on their plate and only so much capacity to make it all happen in the sim at once.
  15. They stated a few times that we will see realistic basket physics in the future, but I'm too lazy to search for that now. I'm betting that will extend to boom refuelling, too. :) I think we may disagree on the "decently" :D
  16. That's what I mean by "more abstracted". Would it be nice if it was 100% like in real life? Of course, but we are not there yet and I simply described the way it's working *in DCS* right now. See above Now you are projecting - I'm pretty sure there is a will to do it as realistically as possible (see adding wake vortices a while back), but there is also only so much capacity to actually bring all these things to the sim. You see the whining that's happening already due to some entitlement-issue plagued users shedding a tear about the "abandoned F-18", so I simply figure this is rather low on the priorities list. We have a working AAR implementation both for boom and for basket refueling, that works decently realistic.
  17. The DLZ is the Dynamic Launch Zone, an area shown on the HSI inside of which you can drop your JDAM with it reaching the target based on it's programmed parameters, or in short: inside this zone you can drop your JDAMs and they will hit stuff.
  18. No, of course not - the boom is flexible and needs to be, alsoit needs to decouple instantly in case of any sort of abrupt moves by both planes, but probably especially by the receiving plane. Plus: the whole process is of course a bit abstracted, since this is not real life. It is not more and not less than: move into the right position as indicated by the tanker's position lights, hold your plane there, the boom operator moves it into the refuelling port and you will take fuel. There is a bit of maneuvering leeway, but move to far and it will decouple. Again: take an F-15 or A-10 now, move in with a bit of lateral distance, but still inside the refueling parameters and the boom operator will connect.
  19. Like, what else is there to say? Take an F-15 or A-10, get into a refueling mission and you will see: Once you are properly positioned, the boom operator will move the boom into your plane's refueling receptacle, and it will stay there as long as you stay in place. So: yes and yes.
  20. I'm so looking forward to the Viper, so that's fine on one hand - yet some 3rd modules (looking at you razbam) need some urgent hotfixes... no chance some sort of hotfix gets out, either? Anyway, keep up the good work, everything will turn out fine! :)
  21. I mean, do whatever you want to do, but exactly WHY are you running these jurassic versions of DCS in the first place?
  22. Radar is being reworked to better fit the real thing, this rework has it a bit bugged now, but also generally less effective than it was earlier, in the module. The bug may or may not be fixed this wednesday, but better get used to more complicated radar.
  23. I sat in an F-16 not long ago - the pit is modelled perfectly and the MFDs are spot-on.
  24. There is no date yet. Early Autumn is planned.
  25. There were only ever 96 F-14B in existence, so probably not too many squadrons.
