  1. In addition, we would need Korean War era Helos as well.
  2. Also War Thunder has a good one. Too bad it's not a very good game.
  3. Hmmm....I don't own NTTR, but the last time I tried it for free was just after 2.5.6 came out. I compared it with 2.5.5 and Vegas looked 1000 times better. There were noticeable improvements to PG and Caucasus also. I made some vids back then flying up and down the strip, but I can't share them because they were lost when the HDD they were stored on died. I thought Vegas looked great. The way you describe it sounds like how it was in 2.5.5.
  4. I can't thank you enough for this mod. I spend nearly just as much time flying in "Rise Of Flight" as I do in DCS. The Felixtowe is one of my favs. Good bomber with a bomb sight and two gunners who not only shoot at enemy planes, but also ground targets. It is however a flying boat with no landing gear. The little carriage was not used for takeoff and landing, only for pushing it around on the ground or in the hangar. I am not a coder, so I would like to know how difficult it is to use this plane on the water. DCS currently doesn't have any flying boats or amphibious planes, so I'm thinking that the code for water takeoffs and landings would have to already be there in order to make it happen for a mod. Am I right? Thanks again for all of your hard work. Looking forward to more in the future. BTW, the message about landing speed in the upper right corner keeps flashing a lot with all planes even when you are not trying to land and it is rather annoying. Believe me, 80 knots is permanently burned into my brain. Can you tone it down please? Thanx, Ray
  5. I've heard that they are bringing back the SH-3W which is also amphibious. It may be able to land on water to rescue downed pilots.
  6. Perhaps if they do get the physics right, other planes can do a proper ditching.
  7. Actually it was the "1C" model with the 4X20mm.
  8. Your guess is as good as mine.
  9. OBS is very good, but not exactly noob friendly. Bandicam is much more intuitive and easier for a noob to understand. Records in .avi full lossless video and audio, or .mp4 which is the preferred format for You Tube. It also has a very easy to use screen recorder and it won't break the bank. There is a free version, with a watermark that you can use to try it out. If you like it, the full version is only $39.95 US for a lifetime license. I've used it for almost 10 years now and I love it.
  10. Trim adjustments on the 47 are very sensitive. A little goes a long way. Don't try to take off below 150 mph. Immediately after taking off you will need to trim elevator up and rudder right. That's why you are pulling your stick back and right. Keep the bubble in the center. Don't climb too steep. Raise gear first, then flaps after it is somewhat trimmed. Don't raise flaps too soon. Get up to around 165 mph first. Do not drop below 150 mph. Then close your cowling flaps before 200 mph. Since TO speed is 150, there's a lot of work going on before 200. You cannot use cowling flaps over 200 mph. It will cause buffeting and you may even break your rudder. Once you master the trimming, this bird will virtually fly itself. Now landing is a whole 'nother chapter.
  11. Finally someone mentions the SNJ. Would obviously fill the OP's bill. North American SNJ-4 (AT-6) | National Air and Space Museum (si.edu) Anyone who has seen a WW2 movie from the ~1950's on will see SNJ's painted as Zeros. Looks pretty good on screen except for the non-retractable tailwheel.
  12. My vote would be for the Yak 9-T with the 37mm cannon. Good A to A weapon. The K variant with the 45mm is too nose heavy and not as accurate. The problem with Cold War assets is that the Cold War was just that, Cold. Aside from a hand full of skirmishes over a ~30 year period, there wasn't much shooting going on. Development continued more on a perceived threat than on actual combat. Remember what the C in DCS stands for. The Korean War would be the logical next step to for DCS to develop, after Pacific Theatre, in which case I would advocate for early helicopters, Bell-47, Sikorsky H-34, S-51, S-55 and Piasecki H-21. BUT, Pacific Theatre first please. As a wise man once said, "DCS is a mile wide and an inch deep." Lets see if we can make it a little deeper.
  13. It's been 2 updates ago that BigNewy said this and it hasn't been fixed externally yet. Still waiting.......
  14. Well IDK about that. Just 2 updates ago I have several missions that are already broken. They won't open at all. The loading screen gets stuck at Terrain Graphics Init:97, name of map.ng5. So far it happens on PG and Channel. Other missions open just fine.
  15. I am not too keen on a lot of specific history, so would like to know where the Bf-109 F4 fits in. I believe it was mid war. Does it fit in with the above scenario/discussions? I used to fly it a lot in another "cough, cough" sim/game.
  16. OK, looks like you need a fresh install. The installer should prompt you for a destination location. Make sure your new drive has a drive letter. You can do that in windows disc management. Then just direct the installer to go there. Let me know how you do. Have you tried to repair the present install?
  17. I don't understand. If you are running out of room on your C drive then moving it is what you need to do. ^THIS^ Simply copy (Not Cut) and paste the entire DCS World folder to the new drive. Do not try to move the C/Users/your name/saved games folder. Just the main game folder in C/Program files. The easy way to change the launcher is to open DCS World/bin, right click on DCS.exe and send to desktop. After you are done, go back to C/Program files and delete to original folder. You should now have over 100Gb of free space on your HD. GL&HF
  18. Even if they do fix it, rewind will not be available. A proper replay system would recreate the mission exactly using commands stored on your computer and on their server. It is not a video file so rewind is out of the question. It would be like trying to play the game backwards. Can't be done.
  19. @Northstar98 The back porch is over the beach so we can place units there at least, but it sees the front as water. Too bad statics don't shoot. I tried to land a helicopter on the front. I broke the rotor as I was too close to the wall, but it's solid enough to land/crash on.
  20. Yeah, it's static. I misunderstood your post I guess. You're right, I can't place a ground unit without a popup that says, "Place ground vehicles on the land." I see what you mean by the fort. It sticks out into the water. You can place units on the beach and it looks like there's room on the back porch. It may be a good place for AAA or Flack guns also.
  21. I was able to place a Ural firetruck on the Kuznetsov, but it disappears sometimes depending on camera angle. Static units for this ship are sorely lacking.
  22. I can do this as well. I will often leave the game paused all day if I need to, however, that doesn't address the OP's main issue concerning campaigns, which is: you get half way (or more) through the mission and either crash or get shot. You have to start from the beginning to get back to that point in the mission and try again. It's never 5 or 10 minutes in, it's always at least 1/2 hour. I understand his frustration and I too have given up playing campaigns for that reason. HaHa, I was going to say something about that. I see you have matured a bit in 3 years.
