  1. Oh I know! Just wait for the Viper radar to be corrected... Or for the Hornet to have to set LGB codes on the ground. The biggest argument is going to ensue when ED impliments stores over-G to the Hornet and Viper... especially since the Viper lacks a G-limiter. (Now the reason for the fictional code entry is because DCS JTAC can't change to your laser code. I'm interested in seeing how they resolve this in the future.) I just thought of another thing, F-16 hot pit refueling... gotta open the AAR door. There are so many things we're missing damage model wise that would make DCS completely different. Mobius708
  2. You can use either one physically, but only the ATFLIR is rated for CV ops. Mobius708
  3. Yet it's still inferior in many ways. A patch or two ago they fixed the LITENING to same zoom level as the ATFLIR to compensate, so there's still no reason to use it. Plus, you're flying a Hornet, and you can't operate off the boat with a LITENING. Mobius708
  4. DCS LITENING is overperforming as it's limitations aren't modeled. Since is uses a digital zoom the image you should be very pixelated making it almost impossible to identify stuff at range. The ATFLIR fixes this by using 2 zoom levels and 5 FOVs. Avionics wise the ATFLIR is vastly superior and just lacks an IR maker. Technically because we don't have the varient with the IR marker, we should have the NAV FLIR capability. Mobius708
  5. Yes, the Hornet should have full ACLS capability. Right now ATC I'm not helpful in a landing configuration. Mobius708
  6. The Hornet's corner velocity is 360 knots (generally). This is the baseline for your two circle rate fight. get below 350-360 kts in a loaded turn and you will start to bled speed quite quickly, and it will be more difficult to regain that energy.
  7. What are the -200s configuration conditions? Mobius708
  8. Did you have pylons or no pylons? Mobius708
  9. The actual instrument is a separate display system afaik. You will always have it's bug to the altitude you left it, but you can set a system RALT warn via HSI-DATA-A/C-RADAR. Or we should be able to set it as shown above. Mobius708
  10. Yes, but here he entered a value after cuing something with A/P PBx2. Mobius708
  11. Hello all, I was watching this video and noticed a peculiar UFC entry with this Hornet. Starting at 4:16 you hear betty call "altitude....altitude" then immediately the pilot press A/P twice and enters 190 into the scratch pad. With this information it appears that he is setting a new baro warning altitude by double pressing the A/P UFC option. I would like to see this included with the DCS Hornet if it is relevant to our OFP. We have more or less a frankenstein's monster of OFPs up to 20X in DCS as far as I can tell. By my logic there is no way that this isn't what the pilot did. I would love to have someone correct me if I'm wrong. Mobius708
  12. LAX literally has a VORTAC. VOR and TACAN. Basically the same thing. Civil vs military. (VOR uses VHF, TACAN uses UHF. Both use UHF for DME afaik.) Mobius708
  13. There is a mod for it already, and it passes integrity check. Does exactly that. Mobius708 Hornet's can do mode C. Mobius708
  14. In the Hornet most all systems are connected. The ASPJ, RWR receivers, MSI, and even the HARM seeker if equipped all work together. I'm talking about the semi circle and chevrons on the EW format, not the SA format RWR filter. The physical knob on the ALE-47 panel for filters isn't even modeled yet. Just saying how all they systems contribute to display IFF information on the EW format. Mobius708
  15. Yeah, exactly, thanks for the confirmation. I wish MSI actually functioned in DCS. The many separate systems are very annoying. Mobius708
  16. Any military field they'd fly out of would have a TACAN becon. STL Lambert int airport here has a TACAN too because of Boeing. NAS's would also have the ICLS that of course the Hornet can use. Mobius708 Our Hornet in DCS is also missing the radar beacon function. (BCN on UFC) I know very little about it but I'm sure someone here could shed a bit of light in it. Mobius708
  17. Just always use T/O trim. It's required for the jet to not yell at you :) On the carrier you must have a min stab position of 16. There is potential that you will not have proper pitch authority if you don't. When you do have proper T/O trim set, you shouldn't need to touch the stick at all for takeoff. Unless it's a section takeoff, I don't. Mobius708
  18. I presume you mean a conditional binding for a physical switch? There are gear up and down bindings. Mobius708
  19. I would have a very hard time believing that's not possible. It wouldn't make sense with the technology available. Hell, why wouldn't the aircraft be able to correlate an RWR nails with an offboard trackfile? Now again we must remember that DCS basically dosen't model IFF at all. Regardless of what the interrogated aircraft has their IFF set to, they will always return friendly if they are apart of your coalition. That part is wrong. Mobius708
  20. They do, but the SA filter is set to Friend OFF by default. Mobius708
  21. Um, what not? just think about it. Someone on your side sends out an interrogation signal to your aircraft. Your aircraft recognizes the incoming mode 4 as it is friendly and sends a response. Your jet know knows that to that specific F-16 is friendly because you're talking the same language. Another F-16 picks you up, but as it is part of the opposing coalition, you can't understand his mode 4 request, so his nails gets labeled by your aircraft as unk/hostile. I don't see the issue with this. Mobius708
  22. The problem is that ED gimped our radar range a little too much. Not to mention that we can't set an off board track as L+S yet. With those tools, being high and fast at launch will be your best bet. But, the MIG-31s always fire at some 60nm. Their missile is fast. Aided by the fact that the MIG-31 is a mach 2.8+ aircraft. So, as it stands right now, you are going to have to push in to get to an effective range for your 120s. There is no way you will defeat their missiles kinematically, you must notch them. You should have a pretty good PK once you've pushed in and defeated the first salvo. Being very fast aircraft you will see an incredible closure rate which will only give you the higher PK. It is tough, very tough, but possible. A bit further down the road you should have some more tools at your disposal. Mobius708
  23. Yet TAMMAC is requirement for the TAWS and subsequent systems (DTED, DMS) that we *do* have. @BIGNEWY Note for ED: see 2.17.4 in A1-F18AC-NFM-000 1-2-145 Mobius708
  24. The EW format also shows CIT data, do you have any documentation saying this is wrong?
  25. More or less. The switch returning to the aft position is a physical indication that the laser is not armed. Realistically there is quite a bit of time between attack runs and flipping that switch each time is no big deal. Kinda like how there isn't a HOTAS option by default to select A/G. Mobius708
