Video quality is only 360p That Hornet wasn't flown well tho. He basically overshot and tried to slow down but got killed. Also your fights seems to be in the free for all area. If you could show 1v1 fights with good Hornet pilots, I would love to see. BTW I like the music.

Well, the damage model for Viper now is basically is: guaranteed fuel leak once you are hit, no matter where.

For me, it's simple: figuring out how to take off and blow stuff up. Then, land if I don't crash.

investigating radar elevation position can become offset from axis value
SCPanda replied to ice41's topic in Bugs and Problems
A quick workaround: move your radar cursor out of the right or left edge of the screen. It will change the scan azimuth, but it will also reset the offset elevation value to the correct value. -
F-16C vs F/A-18C for BVR & AA in general
SCPanda replied to El buscador de la verdad's topic in Chit-Chat
That's your opinion. Not true at all. -
You can if you have all those switchs bond to the swithces and/or knobs on a flight sim panel or something like that. As long they are bond they will work. And check the :synchronize HOTAS controls before missions starts" option in the settings. For example, lets say you have an F-16 simpit, you can just switch whatever switches to whatver positon you like before cold start, DCS will sync those switch positions in game.

I can confirm. Putting 120s and sidewinders on whatever station makes no drag difference in DCS. I have tested it. In real life, there are differences. Nope, not at all. Pulling 8Gs forever until your fuel runs out is not realistic at all. No human on this planet can do that. Same goes for almost instant GLOC when hitting 9G. The other F-16 sim does a far better job that creating the realitic G tolerance. 7 or 8G for too long? GLOC. 9G for a short period of time? No problem.

Real pilot: sustains 9.5G for 11 second while making conversation
SCPanda replied to karasawa's topic in DCS Core Wish List
False. It's for both reasons. The engineers decided to go with the 30 degree angle becuase it gives more G tolerance AND make the seat fit in the cockpit. They tested that 45 degree is the best for G-tolerance but it's bad for pilot's neck. Still, with 30 degrees, real pilots have confirmed pulling same amount of Gs feels like pulling 1-2 less G in the Viper than in a jet without the inclined seat. This is from the USAF website: "The seat-back angle was expanded from the usual 13 degrees to 30 degrees, increasing pilot comfort and gravity force tolerance." (https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/104505/f-16-fighting-falcon/) BTW, F-22 is seat is 22 degrees. Probably tuned it down due to Viper pilots complaining about the neck problems they all got. -
F-16C vs F/A-18C for BVR & AA in general

Hornet's SA is not better than Viper. Viper's SA is awesome. One thing I hate about the Hornet in terms of SA: its RWR location in the cockpit. Due to poor placement of its RWR screen, you have to put the EW page on one of the MFD. Then, you have to choose between having either the EW page on one of the two screens on top (other one for radar obviously), or put it on the screen on the bottom. On top: you cannot see the SA page, you have to look down to see the SA page, making it difficult to have an all-time situational awareness. On the bottom, you can see the SA page all the time, but you are fucked on the RWR side. Yes, I know you can have RWR on HUD and JHMCS, but a top down view of the RWR is better and less confusing they missiles are flying at you. In comparison, Viper's cockpit layout is perfectly built for air to air (makes sense since it's an AIR foce jet). RWR, 2 MFD displaying radar and HSI right in front of your eyes, no need to look down at anything. If you know how to work with a Viper, it's your best friend at shooting bandits down. Viper's speed is also better at chasing bandits down or running away if you need to. No jets can outrun the Viper in DCS and have the same level of BVR capability. Hornet's speed sometimes can be frustatiing: you will find yourself in situations when you see a Viper getting away from you and can't do nothing or struggle to run away when a Viper, Eagle, or Tomcat is on your ass. You really don't know how to BVR in a Viper don't you? Jammer pod goes on the center station. Center station is not for weapons, period. You don't need a third external fuel tank for BVR, center tank will just make your jet more draggy and 2 tanks is far more than enough fuel unless you are too dumb to go full burner at all time in low altitude. Flying low is not how a Viper should fight anyway. Regarding drag, it's negligible. With the jammer pod Viper is still fast, and much faster than Hornet. Another thing notice, just go look at the scoreboard in the PvP severs. Vipers are always on top. Hornets? Not so much. -

That might change after the new FM changes for F-16 comes out. -
USAF and International F-16V Variants As A New Module

I second this! Question: How does MALD work? -
Yesterday I was doing BVR in multiplayer sever against another players. I was at 30k and there were 2 bandits flying hot at me at about 5k shown on datalink. I adjusted my radar elevation using the axis on my throttle to about +20 to -5 (cursor on datalink contacts). My radar detected both targets so I used RWS to lock one of them. After the lock, the radar elevation immediately changed to something about -5 to -20 without me adjusting the axis at all. This might not sound like radar elevation freezing but is how it supposed to work? Seems wrong to me.

USAF and International F-16V Variants As A New Module
SCPanda replied to Dawgboy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yep. But when Eurofighter comes out, an updated F-16 would be the only thing that could be a even match against the EF2000 in terms of air to air. I know DCS is not about balancing but I would hate to see everyone flying the Eurofighter in PvP severs. -
Oh right! You reminded me the physics and astronomy classes took in college. xD

Or in space Like Dragon1-1 said. BTW, F-16's FLCS automatically trim the jet for 1G.

Or just give our Block 50 the new stuff it deserves instead of the current 2007 variant, like they did with the A-10C II. APG-68v9, APKWS, AIM-120C7 (or D).... All that good stuff. I am willing to pay for it, I don't care how much they charge it. Easy money for ED. -
I don't get why SA11 is considered hard... SA11 literally cannot intercept the HARMs you fired it. Just HARM that son of bitch.
-
My workaround is just slew the radar cursor to the side of the screen, which will change it scan area but it also recenters the elevation.
-
Did you still have 2 fox 2s on your jet? If yes, then you will get the countdown. Try carrying only fox 3s, or fire your fox 2s first, if the the last remaining AA missile on your jet is a fox 3, after you fire you will not have the countdown.
-
If you have an Aim-120 as your last AA missile on your jet, after you launched it the time to active and time to impact countdowns on the HUD are missing. I believe this is correct since I remember in the other F-16 sim it works the same way but there's a HOTAS command you can do to make the countdowns appear. Does anyone know what is the HOTAS commnad?
