Yep. I heard FCS always trims the jet to 1G.

Wait we can CCIP drop the CBU-97 now? In the previous patches (probably a long time ago), I remember I could only drop it in CCRP.

What countermeasures program do you use in the Viper?
SCPanda replied to Sneeki's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Nice idea! -
Again, ignoring the facts, shifting the argument from turn performance to how I fly in DCS, and twisting my words (you should really consider a job in politics haha). How I fly in DCS is none of your business. But I will try to explain this to you since maybe you are bad at dogfighting and don't play in the dogfight servers. In dogfight servers most people fly the Hornet, so it's Hornet vs Hornet most of the time. Because that's the only fair fight you can get, with equal piloting skills, no other jets in DCS can beat the Hornet. The fact that almost everyone flew the Hornet in last year's Folds of Honor dogfight competition proves that. That's why I fly the Hornet almost exclusively, I can't control what jet others fly, can I? Whenever I see someone select the Viper, I fly the Viper against him. I CAN beat a Viper in Hornet "without a sweat", doesn't mean I will do it. That is just boring and not challenging. But hey, none of this matters, since the original discussion was about Viper vs Hornet in a rate fight. So let me ask you a direct question, and I hope you can man up and give me a direct anwser: In your belief, wilbur81, do you think our DCS Viper (clean no pylon 50% fuel) can ourrate our DCS Hornet (clean no pylon 50% fuel) on the sea level when the Hornet is not pulling the paddle?
-
No. I'm just too lazy to change my profile picture. But I'm not neutral, I like the Viper more. Hornet is ugly. So you just ignored the link I posted in my previous reply? Whatever, I will post it again. https://dcs.silver.ru/77,71,IAS_kts,turnrate Hornet rating at 350 knots at 1000m (altitude is on the top left corner of the page in case you failed to see) at 6.5G (so no paddle, like you asked), STR is 19.08 degrees per second. Viper rating at 440 knots at 1000m at 7.94G, STR is 18.58 degrees per second. Also, anyone can see in the graph Hornet's turn rate is better at the Viper in all speed ranges. So paddle or no paddle, DCS Hornet outrates the DCS Viper. I don't need to show you a video. A video of two players dogfighting has too many factors involved and proves nothing. Test data says it all (I didn't do those tests btw, in case you want to question something I deliberately did to make the Hornet rate better). Your bad Hornet piloting skills in BFM casuing you to lose to a Viper doesn't mean Viper can outrate a Hornet in DCS. I fly the Hornet almost exclusively in dogfight severs everyday, I can take on a Viper anytime without a sweat. If you look at the data and still deny the facts, then there's nothing I need to discuss with you anymore.
-
LOL you again... Your profile picture says it all. They did guess the Hornet's performance. That's a fact. Here is the performance comparison in DCS: https://dcs.silver.ru/77,71,IAS_kts,turnrate The only avaliale information regarding Horent's turn performance vs Viper is from real pilots. They claimed Viper outrates Hornet in a 2 circle fight. Hey how about this: Our DCS Hornet is underperforming and it should rate at 30 degrees per second. Does this make you happy? I mean no one has the EM charts for the Hornet so let's make it turn like a F-22
-
No problem man. I think my driver version is 471.96. I have two 16GB 2400 mhz Kingston RAM. I forgot the model number since I'm not at home now. It could be the problem of DCS. What you could try is delete the DCS World folder under saved games in C drive. The game will recreate a new one, but you have to redo all the settings in game. Before you do that backup the old DCS World folder so you don't have to redo the controls. Your old controls files will be under DCS World>Config>Input you backed up. You can just copy and paste the Input folder into the new Config folder under DCS World.
-
But, EM chart for the F-18 is not avaliable as the Viper. ED guessed the performance of the Hornet and it's overperforming like crazy. They literally made Hornet, the high alpha fighter into a rate figher like the Viper.

This should be added ASAP. Bitching Betty now is almost silenced Betty in the DCS F-16.

I have a i7 7700k and a 3080, 32 GB RAM. Playing on 1080p. CPU usage never goes above 70%. GPU usage is higher than yours I think. Almost full usage last time I checked. Graphics: everything high, MSAA 4x, ultra clouds, SSAA, SSLR, SSAO off, grass and forest max, forest and scenery details max, preload radius 60000, AF 16x, terrain shadows flat, cockpit global illumination on. Didn't mess with the Nvidia control panel except I turned on the MFAA, makes the AA even better in game. SP: 100-130 FPS MP: Depends. Dogfight server I can get same FPS as SP. PvP BVR server I can get 50-80 on ground, 70-100 in air. PvE server with lots of objects I can get 40-70 on ground, 40-90 in air.

What countermeasures program do you use in the Viper?
SCPanda replied to Sneeki's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Totally agree. It's all up to personal preference. Planning and setting countermeasure programs would be great if we have DTC implemented, like in BMS. Right now we can only edit the lua file or do it manually in the jet. Both ways are troublesome. -
What countermeasures program do you use in the Viper?
SCPanda replied to Sneeki's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I only use two programs, program 1 and program 5. Having to rotate the knob to swich between 1 and 4 is inefficient and will get you killed in certain situations. Since I have a warthog stick I use CMS forward for program 1, and CMS depress for program 5 (in the jet it's called "slap button", aka "chaff/flare release" in controls manager). CMS left, right, and aft are all binded but they don't have any functions in DCS right now since they are WIP. Program 1 is my chaff program. Program 5 is my flare program. There's no need to setup a program that has chaff and flare mixed since I know what is shooting at me or what may be shooting at me (IRs like manpads and ETs). Only 60 chaff and 60 flares you can bring on the jet so releasing them mixed is a waste. You need to learn to know what is shooting at you. Program 1 bursts 3 chaffs with a interval of 0.2 seconds. Single sequence no repeat. Program 5 bursts 5 flares with a interval of 0.2 seconds. Single sequence no repeat. The most effective way to defeat radar guided SAMs in DCS is manuvering and terrian masking. You can out-engergy it, hide from it, or in very close ranges, out-manuver it (depends on the SAM type of course). Dropping chaff might help, but it's a waste. Save your chaff for AA engagements. -
F-16 Axis configuration - discussion and questions
SCPanda replied to b0bl00i's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Nice. I downloaded Falcon BMS and tried with the FSSB R3L, there's a big difference in how the jet feels. I can also do accurate 4 point rolls in DCS, but that requires me to input max roll force. In BMS however, the jet feels much alive and I don't need max roll force to fast 4 point rolls. Pitch is also more sensitive in BMS. After all, F-16 feels more like a fighter. In DCS, the jet just feels there's some default curve added to the FLCS, and it's makes the handling of the jet quite bad. If you have Mirage in DCS, you really should try flying it with your FSSB (no in game curves of course). The handling of the Mirage is just so much better and alive. -
F-16 Axis configuration - discussion and questions
SCPanda replied to b0bl00i's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
So an update on this issue. I bought the FSSB R3L force sensing base, and I am using it with the warthog grip. Even with the force sensing stick, flying with 0 curves, the jet still feels very sluggish in both roll and pitch. Feels like I am flying a 747. I am not even using a high force settings with my FSSB. My max pitch force is 6.25 lbs, and my max roll force is 3.25 lbs (default is 8.5 lbs and 4.33 lbs). In the Mirage however, flying with 0 curves feels much alive. So I guess this issue is not due to our hardware but how ED simulated F-16's FLCS in DCS. Whether it's correct or not it's debatable. I'm going to try Falcon BMS and see how it feels in the other F-16 sim with a force sensing stick. -
People have reported this already. Here you go: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/282791-radar-look-down-problem-f-16-low-flying-fighter-size-targets-not-detected-from-high-altitude/?tab=comments#comment-4782469 Hope it would be fixed in the next patch.

Yeah, I also don't quite understand their attitude towards the incorrect G effects in DCS. It seems to me it's not that hard to change (I don't know any coding so I could be wrong about this). Are they just not convinced? too lazy? or too difficult to implement? Except for being unable to sustain 9Gs for longer period of time, another thing wrong about the G effects in DCS is that you can pull 8Gs forever in a rate fight, which is unrealistic. No pilots in the world will be able to sustain 8Gs forever. It's ironic that our DCS virtual pilot is some superhuman that can sustain 8Gs forever but once reaches 9G, he decides to quit. The correct and realistic G effect should be allowing the pilot to sustain certain amount of Gs for certain amount of time. Like 8Gs for 30 seconds maybe, 9Gs for 15 seconds.

Yeah, it's different in BMS. But I guess the functions of the CMS switch depends on the blocks. According to ED and the manual we have in DCS, CMS left (currently) has no functions. I have the warthog stick so I bind the slap switch (in DCS I think it's called chaff/flare release) to the CMS depress function on my stick. In this way I could have two programs available on my hotas: CMS forward for program 1 (this is the only manual program I use and I edited the lua file to make program 1 release chaff only), and CMS depress for program 5 (flare only).
-
We do have program 6, it's the Bypass mode. It releases 1 chaff and 1 flare by default. Go to DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\F-16C\Cockpit\Scripts\EWS\CMDS\device, open the CMDS_ALE47.lua with notebook. It says: -- MAN 6 - BYPASS mode programs[ProgramNames.MAN_6] = { chaff = { burstQty = 1, burstIntv = 0.02, salvoQty = 1, salvoIntv = 0.5, }, flare = { burstQty = 1, burstIntv = 0.02, salvoQty = 1, salvoIntv = 0.5, }, } You could edit program 1-5, so you don't have to configure your CMS programs everytime you get into a new jet. I haven't tried edit program 6, since I don't use bypass mode, but you could give it a try.

Another tip, or more like a mindset: Don't think yourself is in defensive, instead, think that you want to go offensive and kill the guy on your six, because avoiding his shots is one thing, being able to reverse the fight and get your gun on him is what will win you the fight.
-
Yep, what a shame. I mean if an C-130 pilot can handle 9Gs for 10 times without GLOC and blacking out, I don't know why our DCS virtual pilot can't? Is ED trying to insult all our armchair pilots lol? Just kidding. Remember the Viper pilot in the front seat did this as well, just in case anyone forgot. Also the Viper pilot sounds super relaxed in the video, he sounds like he was taking a friend in his sports car for a Sunday drive. Meanwhile in DCS, hits 9 G, G-LOC and black out... What a joke...

Same here. But I guess Nineline would suggest you to ask about this in the Hornet section. Also, I am also curious about whether the Hornet is overperforming in STR, and also the JF-17. Both jets currently are the best rate fighters as well as the best 1 circle fighters in DCS, which makes them really unbeatable in BFM. Mirage might win against them in 1 circle fights but they both outrates the Mirage by far so Mirage doesn't stand a chance as well. Viper will lose to them both in 2 circle and 1 circle, which is kinda frustrating and might not be that realistic. But yes again, we might need to ask about these kind of stuff in the Hornet and Jeff section. Edit: It seems Mig-29 also outrates the Viper in all speed ranges https://dcs.silver.ru/39,77,IAS_kts,turnrate

fixed Can't switch from SAM to TWS using TMS right long
SCPanda replied to SCPanda's topic in Bugs and Problems
Any news on this getting reported and fixed soon? -
Thx. May I ask what speed should I fly to rate the Hornet(in kts pls)? I would love to watch lol. Beating a Hornet is so hard in a Viper, even with the updated FM. I tried for a couple of fights in the dogfight sever, the Hornet always gets on my six. But if I switch to a Hornet, the fight is pretty even and somewhat easier.
