  1. Just noticed this as well today. I could clearly see that weird overlay like a skydome in the dark within the CV1 (gamma 2.2 as 1.6 makes DCS the Dark Cockpit Simulator at daytime). Also, pretty much the same, there was a black spot mostly around me on the water, but it went only so far and from that point on it was pretty much grayish. Screenshots attached. Be wary of pitch black. Crank gamma up to 11 to see it on a non-OLED and non-CRT monitor.
  2. I tried some MP within the last few days. First off, the render performance is absolutely abysmal, even in rather empty maps. I wish DCS could improve here vastly as I remember this being an issue ever since, literally. I can get 45fps offline, dropping to 30ish in heavy situations, but I never see more than 22 ever in MP with the same settings, and it went down as far as single digit. Meh. But now to the actual topic. With the CV1 it's hard to see things and my eyes won't help that either which is why I fly with dot labels offline. Always. Now taking the things MP, I encountered something I can't explain myself. The server browser lists the settings of the server in the lower right corner. I've seen these: Labels: Dot only This results in just what it says, dot only labels. Fine Labels: None Self explanatory, they're off, most common setting for servers Labels: Dot only (local) This is where I thought I'd get them as well, but I didn't. They actually were off. Then I tried something, I switched my setting to Full and then it said Labels: Full (local), but still on the server, they're completely off. What's that setting actually? How does this work and how is it meant to work? Looks totally weird for me as it doesn't provide for what it sais...
  3. Go on the Tube, look for BelGeode and his preview episode #2 video on that other recently released sim called "Poor Man's VR". Didn't work for me in regards of performance though, but that thing was a horrible stutterfest anyway when I tried that. Technically however, it worked. Basically you'd use OpenTrack to track you VR HMD movements and translate that into TrackIR "emulation" and run VirtualDesktop in VR with the virtual screen wrapped around your front hemisphere.
  4. Noticed something similar today with my CV1. Having to live with like 20-22 fps even with the shader mods (kegetys IC compliant by s-o-h, mustang shader mod, mustang flat shadow removal - I do miss the days where I had 45+ without those mods even in the Quest which has 88% more pixels which is totally unusable in DCS right now!), seeing it actually run butter smooth on the mirror after tabbing out while blocking the sensor in the headset to prevent it from going off. Clearly an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP. Can't use fpsVR on the Rift though as I don't run DCS though SteamVR. But it is extremely obvious, night and day difference here.
  5. They both have the FireVehicle.lua file though...
  6. That's the point. You won't really notice it that much in VR anyway, but on a screen it would obstruct quite a bit of the HUD image I'd guess. What bothers me now though, but that's clearly ED's fault there, is that I always see that friggen tooltip for the switchology, which is bad enough in other modules already. They really have to get that straight. Yesterday! I just wish they'd read the VR subforums... it's like a No Fly Zone for them as it seems. Bummer...
  7. The contrasts are literally non-existant. I took some screenshot, well, I tried to. Apparently DCS isn't able to take them anymore on PrtScrn. And since Windows 10 simply sucks, none of my other tools I used to use are able to take screenshots anymore either, they just return a completely black image. So I can't provide those and this is not in bug reports. But it's least to say I can't make out anything really on the TGP in IR BHOT or WHOT modes, it's even better in plain TV mode.
  8. Wait, what? Literally wondering the same. Does he know more than we do?

    Welcome!

What a great step! Highly appreciated

    F-104?

I'd take a Starfighter from these guys any day Please sign a contract with ED before some other team with a lot on their plate already does
  11. Is it merged already? BTW it would still be great to be able to decide whether to have this or not, but I wouldn't mind if it comes with the same package.
  12. BAE Systems entered the chat and have . Then the DSMS for the A-10 is clearly wrong or, which is more likely, it is possible to put a different store type to the inventory on the DTS which makes sense if you might also carry unguided rockets at the same time so the DSMS doesn't pack them together. But it's not mandatory for the system to work at all.
  13. New Patch Notes are up at: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/
  14. That's the best joke I've heard in a while... I guess the 3080 would be jump from my 1080 nonti though. But first I've to replace all the rest which is 9 years old by when I'll be able to do that.
  15. I'd love to slew the TGP with the HMCS and see that image overlay while doing so...
  16. Guess that covers it all. Let's see what we can make out of this Make sure to bring enough fuel and don't fly with the throttles firewalled
  17. I guess you can just go to your Saved Games\DCS folder and copy the input files from the legacy to the new one, but that might need a check if everything works correctly afterwards. As this is a new plane, it will have a separate input mapping for sure.
  18. I totally don't know why... Wait a minute, they're LOAL? Holy Belly of the Cake Princess, that's gonna be very delightful! DCS DM in a nutshell Guess you hit the head right on the nail there
  19. Well, you do need brute force to move that thing to begin with. When handling that with a tight grasp and having to go to the center, it literally sucks down the stick like a black hole and you need to switch over that brute force you needed to have it away from the center by 180° precisely and well-timed or otherwise you simply end up fouling up what you try to do there really hard. Never liked Saiteks for the same reason, but the springs were a lot weaker on those though. And the red button on the left throttle is a perfect tool for training the pinkie for some guitar action. It's utterly hard to budge, so I usually end up using another finger for that anyway. I don't have a Virpil base, but since they use CAMs, I presume it's pretty much like Crosswinds, so you need very little force around the center, but progressively more the farther out you move the thing from the center. And that's literally the same with FFB. Probably would end up using the WH if I had a WarBRD base and some extensions, at least for the modules that don't have vital FFB functions such as helos, warbirds or early jets. But the TM base is definately a no go, at least for me As soon as there's an FFB base that works with the WH stick, I'll be heading for that one... too bad Brunner is way too expensive and doesn't understand DirectInput FFB on top of that. I'd happily save up and pay like 500-600 for such a thing and that is lots already. Fun thing though, when I tried the A-10C with the WH stick, I kinda got into the switchology pretty quickly and it was great. But well, I totally couldn't aim the gun or land smoothly anymore
  20. Me too
  21. You can't imagine how that feels without having a stick with a gazillion of hats... it's almost like playing barrés off the 12th fret in quick succession. Well, I do have that stick, but it's collecting dust in the cupboard since it doesn't come with FFB and the gimbal sucks balls (dat pun tho), precise flying is totally impossible with a stock TMWH, at least when it comes to inputs around the center.
  22. I just flew it a few days ago and it does slip tons without rudders, especially on onset. You literally can aim your gun with counter-aileron instead of stepping onto the pedals. It's almost as flying a Horten in another old product that shall not be named.
  23. The FAQ reads: Wouldn't it be so much wiser to rename the old A-10C to A-10C Suite 3 and the new one to A-10C Suite whatever? While writing that, what exact Suite is the new one anyway?
  24. You really shouldn't go out there and play for such massively overpriced things that you could make at home for probably half a buck. Especially during pandemics Just buy 4-8 and make a giveaway, that way you could beat two flies with a single clap. C'mon. I'm not going to remap that. And yes, I removed the mapping because back then I was accidently hitting it far too often when I tried to hit RAlt + Home instead. By the way, while we're at it: Will we finally get 2/3-way switch mappings for the Hog so we can actually use the idle detent of the TMWH to do that? I know there's the premade default mapping for that, but I do use a profile and don't want to constantly switch it, so I'd very much appreciate to be able to map it myself. I mean, it works in the Hornet and Viper right off the bat, but I have to map 2 things in the Hog... Well the last time I was "employed" (or shall I rather say "assigned", since noone is willing to employ me by themselves due to my health deterioration?), I had to work for 10 owas to get that in realtively rich Germany, which totally sucks. Can't blame ED for that either, but since that's long gone in the past and life is hard, I'll have to cry in empty wallet But thankfully there's an easy solution for me at least for now. Shaddap an' take mah marles! I take it that the nasty beeper that goes off at literally every step on shutdown and at some on startup finally is gone with the update? Praised be the Royal Sisters! That thing was and still is so annoying! I really hope though that the top speed will be looked at, so it'd be either drag or thrust. Habu and others have pointed out the thing's being too slow often enough. Last time I tried a few days ago I was able to reach somewhere between 350 and 355 kts on the deck with a clean airframe and just around 800lb of fuel left. I read 381 and similar numbers literally everywhere though. That'd be 7.3% - 8.6% more... But I'm totally looking forward to the changes!
