Now that's going to be a brain melter...
-
The damage model screenshots posted a while ago with the log overlay pretty much show that this gets modelled with the new DM which they'll eventually apply to all assets, beginning with the WWII birds, followed by the modern planes and helos (flyable ones first probably), then the ground assets.

"This is a flight sim" is no excuse, especially after ED's Channel Map "British Pathe" video. Those ramps should have a proper angle and actually even some curvature. With all the details around, you simply can't put a <10 poly ramp there and call it a day. Probably every single friggen lamp post has a lot more. It's like having old Flanker 2.5 Tu-95 models still in there today... And CA is very much another perfectly valid reason to have that addressed.

Who needs a friggen warhead?

Most probably a bug with the cross (and tooltips), I've reported it a while ago, but apparently it went unnoticed. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=278228

Because they know it's gonna be DCS: Tic Tac. He must have learned that from the public service broadcasters the common economy-biased press. Those usually do that as well. Where is that? They promised us an update in July (or was it even June?), all we got was silence. Can't remember the F-111 being mentioned even once in that interview. And I would have catched on that as it's one of my most wanted modules. They just talked Tornado. And I do hope for Heatblur here. But sadly, most people want to get the A-6 because of a movie...

How big is your pagefile? DCS won't run any stable with less than 24-32GB RAM and PF combined. So you should set it to 16384 - 16384 at least. Just keep it at a fixed size and if possible, on a drive other than the one DCS is on. Ideally also not on the one with Windows on it.

Flying in nice weather almost always because of the broken clouds is like playing a fantasy game for me since where I live there rarely ever is nice weather. And, to put a statement: It doesn't rain in Britain. At least not compared to here. Can you beat 1100mm a year? At least it's usually just realistic in all the desert maps we already have and will have soon Now I begin to see a scheme...

DCS World 2.5.x Caucasus Terrain Textures
Eldur replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
If it's just plain color, it should be no more than 1x1. But what do I know of? -
Global a/c request: adjustable trim input rate please!
Eldur replied to TEMPEST.114's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'd be glad already if it simply was untied from the framerate, not everyone has 90+ fps... utterly bad programming habit anyway, maybe good enough for the casual console game that's stuck to 30 frames anyway, but a definite no go in a PC sim. -
Well, I do both... slewing the thing when hovering, but when doing passes, I stick to the boresight mode. Well, you could always argue with WIP, but it never hurts telling them what you see is not right (yet), since maybe they have missed something, as history has shown often enough already. Well, I literally wore out my stick's 3rd button by doing it right in a quite short timeframe (pretty much the only noticable wear on that stick though) which made me use the FD instead since the button won't work anymore for prolonged time (won't stay pressed and keeps pulsing). And I just tap that switch before entering the Danger Zone and after leaving it. And you might believe it or not, even IRL you could temporarily hold the stick with the left hand and as opposed to the sim, there's pretty much always some friction adjustment on the collective. The thing that really sucks is there's no friggen stick manufacturer on the planet who dares to bring a proper stick to the market anymore. They all keep sticking to tech from the last millenium (actually FFB is that as well, but I guess you'd get what I mean) and think it's good enough, worst of all, the weary customer keeps buying that stuff as there's literally no alternatives except for the massively overpriced Brunner (well, for Swiss conditions it's not that expensive, but the rest of the world can't afford that) that doesn't even work with DCS. But I don't wanna get too political here now, since this is OT as well. I just wish ED would help pushing it... I mean, they literally made TM bring the HOTAS Warthog and the Hornet grip, and they still do support FFB in DCS.

Soviet/Russian Attack Helicopter tactics for the Hind?
Eldur replied to Andrei Dragovic's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
That'd be interesting to be able to reload some stores (limited ofc) by landing and letting the crew do that, without having to go to a FARP. -
Edit: Should read the whole thing first TBH the -10 would be enough IMHO as well. You'd even get the general direction from that, good enough.

DCS: MiG-25RBT Mod Announcement
Eldur replied to cosmicdoubloon's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I feel the need... Tomcat is too slow with just 2.15 -
That's how I expected and understood things to be. We have BS2 and A-10C, BS3 and A-10C II will replace both modules in the store and there will either be upgrade versions for the owners of the old ones or bis discounts on new licenses that literally replace the old ones (similar to the BS2 compared to the BS2 upgrade which was less, but needed a BS1 installation). In the end, the new modules BS3 and A-10C II will give the users two aircraft each: - Ka-50 old - Ka-50 new - A-10C suite 3.1 (that number taken from the store page) - A-10C suite whatever, the new one All old content will still work as before with the old variants, but you can have the new ones as well for new content, or go ahead and replace the old by the new in existing missions if you like. The ones who don't upgrade won't get the new versions, but will naturally be able to keep on flying the old versions, unless they come across missions that replaced the old by the new ones they don't have.
-
I begin to wonder about the Ka-50 though after that statement...
-
Well the original A-10C is $60, BS2 is $50 and (I checked my receipts) the BS2 upgrade was $26, and I'd expect the A-10C upgrade to be somewhere around that as well. I wonder if they'd really go as far as upping the A-10 from 60 to 80 though.

VR setting: hands active only when palm grip
Eldur replied to streakeagle's topic in Virtual Reality
They simply need to disappear when the controller isn't moved for like 2-3 seconds, just the way it is within the Oculus menu when the hands turn back intro the controllers. Holding grip keys starts making them actually interact with the cockpit, so you don't hit things by accident that you didn't want to (there's an option for that that has to be checked for the RH controller). -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Eldur replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
See the link in his sig. That's the most recent ones of the clear water and IC compliant edits he made. -
For long term, ED plans to have bigger maps or even join some together, since the question was if it was possible to have maps like Normandy and The Channel combined in the future. Wags already hinted at that like 2 years ago in an interview. And ED is going to create maps bases on what military customers ask them to do.

It's a shame, they should squash bugs, not features Those shadows are literally essential. Same as for hands in VR. And a substitute similar to the flashlight for pancake. Oh... and that flashlight for VR. It's sad that we even have to talk about this with the otherwise amazing looking lighting and shadows in DCS.

A perfect example however why google cards should be prohibited by law. That's what I'm really looking forward to, since it's very much undermodelled to date. Lots of aircraft would benefit from a proper EWR/GCI system giving actual directions instead of just BRA-calls or bullseye pictures. We've got the 21bis already and the 23MLA coming to profit from that. And the English Electric Lightning as well. Having pure intercept in a combat flight sim without having to fire up an Amiga (Emulator) to run Jet Pilot on will make DCS a lot better. It's not just about BFM and ACM. It's about getting there in the first place.

I think we all can agree that it is absolutely great and also brain melting news that the MiG-29A will be possible to bring on for ED. Really looking forward to that one since I'm pretty sure they will make it because the demand for a more modern REDFOR is pretty much there. While it isn't anything as fancy as a SMT, MiG-35 or any of the more modern Flanker variants, it's still a blast to begin with and a much more capable adversary than what we have already, at least if you don't count the Jeff as red, since that's literally a plane within a green vs. yellow conflict. And I think it would be awesome to have the 29A alongside the 23MLA After all I'd prefer more stuff from that era to be fair. 80-90 is a great timeframe for modern air combat with some new and fancy first 4th gens, but the old and gold things still there, lots of variety and a great mix that can pretty much have some balance without nerfing anything. A Fulda Gap map then would be the cherry on top of the icing... one day... one day...
