Downloading the 2.5 Hotfix 1 as I type and getting it at a fairly constant ~1 MB/s, which is pretty much the limit of my current Optusnet (ISP) ADSL2+ connection. This was also the same case for the main 2.5 download a week ago, which for me was ~22.5 GB and that came down at about 1MB/s for almost the whole time I was connected to the torrent.

That's a worry/ little odd.

Hey Tripps - Go figure??? I'd normally say, "Lucky you!" having a NBN connection already. I'm still a few months away - they have been doing stuff with cabling in the street for the last month or so. As I type this I'm 37% complete and still getting a constant 1 MB/s (max for my ADSL). My ISP is Optusnet (ATM). What speeds are you getting ATM for the 2.5 D/L? What sort of speed do you normally get for a large DCS download?

I have a 9 cm extension for my Warthog stick and find it makes heaps of difference (use to it now I guess, as I've had it for quite a while 5+ years). I got it for two reasons: 1. Greater precision without the need to change curves etc. I found this particularly advantageous when learning to AAR with the A10-C. This was the main driver as to why I got it 2. I wanted to mount my Warthog throttle and joystick on platforms attached to either side of my chair. The extensions brought the grip up to the desired height. The extension you are talking about is much longer than mine, so you probably will want to centre mount it in front of you. Something to work out but worth it (IMHO) in the long run. I've enclosed a picture of my old set up (2014) with my first Warthog and my old chair, but my new chair/ HOTAS arrangement is very similar.

I have only just started the download. After copying files from 2.2 I have 22.5 GB to torrent. I'm in Australia and I'm currently getting 1 MB/s, which is pretty close to the top speed of my ADSL2 connection, so I'm very happy so far. Complete contrast to to the Nevada download. This is a dream so far. Very happy.

Great question Asator (OP). I hadn't thought about this and I don't have anything that comes immediately to mind as an F/A-18 specific theme. So far I'd have to go with Gladman's suggestion - Motley Crue : Kickstart my Heart. Perhaps once ED have selected a theme ED could hold a competition like they did for the F-5E with a member of the community doing their version of the theme (or part of it)?

When is this likely though? Has been in the mill for years and "seems" to have been on the back burner for much of that time. Would be nice to hear any news on this front.

I'd like to take advantage the pre-order, but there is no info or option about purchasing the F/A-18C and new Nimitz-class carrier together as a package? From the "DCS: F/A-18C Hornet FAQ" thread, which was only updated yesterday: (12 Jan 18) "Q: Will the Hornet come with a new, highly-detailed Nimitz-class aircraft carrier with new features and functionality never seen before in DCS World? A: These will be two separate modules, but we plan to provide a bundle deal that includes both. We currently plan a less-detailed version that will be a free part of DCS World.". So will this bundle-deal be available during the pre-order? Thanks for any info.

Just off the top of my head, in addition to what you have mentioned: ..obviously the redo of the Caucasus map with higher resolution terrain mesh and new textures for the buildings & airfields etc. heaps more colidable trees using SpeedTrees (?) I think its called (and grass??) Better lighting. Worth looking at one of Wags' latest videos where he discusses much of this. I don't think a specific "features List" has been published yet listing all the changes. Edit: Here is the link to Matt's video:

If ED or one of the Third Parties took the time and had the information required to make one to the usual ED standards, I'd certainly buy it! Not everyone's cup of tea I know and understand why, but certainly something different to try. DCS is a sandbox - bring what you want.

I'm having a bit of a problem getting the latest 476 NTTR mission to run in 2.5 and was hoping someone might be able to help please? I have installed the latest (22 Oct 17) 476 vFG Range Target Mod into the "tech" folder using JSGME. I can see it is activated in the module list in the module manager of the game. However, when I run the related "476_NTTR_p3.2.miz" mission file, I get the following error: "Need modules for load mission: 476vGG Range Targets by Noodle & Stuka" Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Making a thread "Sticky" keeps that particular thread at the top of the list of threads for a particular subject category. It prevents it dropping down the list over time. Very handy for information that is required frequently and for an ongoing basis into the future (like video tutorials). I think a Moderator has to make it Sticky.

I also had this problem. Trying to assign axis or buttons from the main configuration panel (options/ Controls) would result in a black screen as soon as I pressed the "OK" button after completing the assignments. I too had to exit DCS via the Task Manager. However, I could assign axis and buttons from within the aircraft when flying by pressing ESC and then adjusting the control settings from there. I deleted the "C:\Users\my name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\AV8BNA" folder and this solved the problem for me.

I would also recommend the L-39 C as well as an intro jet, followed by the L-39 ZA. That is of course if you are happy with the Eastern Block type navigation systems etc.
