Hi All, I am trying to learn how to use the AGM-65F in conjunction with the Targeting Pod. I have been watching various tutorials on YouTube, including SpudKnockers various videos on the subject. There are a few things I do not think are right on my setup. I have the FLIR set to Image Mode FLIR, as appose to CCD, White hot. When I select 'WPDSG' the pod image clearly slaves to the waypoint location, but even at say 20m range to target, all I see is green. Apparently, I am supposed to be able to render an image at <42m. All I see is bright green, in fact all I see most of the time with the pod, even if I am slewing it manually with the TDC, everything is bright green until I am about 10m from the waypoint/target. Even when I first select FLIR, the image is bright green, like maximum green brightness, even though I am in Snowplough mode looking at the sea I have replicated the mission in the same test area of the Marianas map, on a nice clearly sunny day at noon Please could someone help me

I've come across some weird behavior of the last Harpoon in a 4 missile launch sequence. There are no issues if I start the mission after the fresh start of DCS (actually I did the reboot also). When I try to fly the same mission again, without restarting DCS (and possibly rebooting), I always see missile #4 flying up to over 40k feet, leveling off then diving on the target... after overflying it and hitting it dead on. All 4 missiles were set to BOL with HTPT, LOW flight profile and SKIM terminal phase. In all cases, all missiles followed the programmed route. Weird. Anyone else seen this? Edit: I'll post the tracks and vids tomorrow.

I find that when I engage the autopilot, e.g. attitude hold and steering select, it will not keep to the current SP and will start loosing altitude. I verified all autopilot switches are set properly adn no warnings. Speed was ~360knots. It does not happen all the time but lately most of the time it simply won't work for me. Any limitations to the autopilot?

So I get the target on my panel, I have master arm on, AA, AMRAM selected, move the slew over, but can't lock on it.

Playing Operation Slingshot, My A.I wingman lost both his engines due to Archie (No, not the pilot assistant). I'm sure he then radioed to say he was bailing out, over Calais, but, several minutes later, with me having made it back across the Channel, crash landed, and then spending a few minutes observing the FW 190, ESCORT, the Boston/Havoc's (?) back across the Channel to dear Ol Blighty (live and let live seemed to be the motto for the day), my attention turned to the my beaten up A.I wingman, crew still ensconsed, propellers stopped and feathered, streaming smoke, flying forever circles, just south of Calais. I continued to watch him for several minutes before finally getting bored and ending the game.

Hi, Question to DCS OpenBeta F16 module. I can't get AI wingman to listen to my commands at all. I know I'm using correct frequency on COM2 since he gives me mud spike calls and contact calls etc. 1. I have easy communications turned OFF. 2. I'm tuned into correct frequency (assumption since I can hear his calls) 3. I know I'm using VHF radio since when I use rctrl+\ and then choose a command, the VHF frequency get's highlighted on DED. Is it just broken in Open Beta (or maybe at all).? BTW. Other communication (ATC, tanker) works fine.

missing info AI engagement with HARMs
Eagle7907 posted a topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I'm sure this is something somewhat incomplete, but very hard to ignore. I'm playing a campaign mission, which involves my flight being a SEAD role. All aircraft in my flight are armed with HARMs. My own engagement with the HARMs go without a problem. When I tell my flight to "engage air defences", all three break formation and fly the opposite direction of any targets of opportunity. They eventually just enter their own orbit and eventually give up and rejoin from about 60-80 miles away, of course using full burner. Something is seriously flawed here and makes SP SEAD flights a waste when there is more than two targets needed to be destroyed for a strike package to succeed. -
I was doing some air to ground practice in a mission today and was maybe lets say being a bit "ham handed" & unsympathetic to the poor old jet, ( Piling on the G's in the turns when loaded ect) firstly I noticed that it was becoming somewhat unresponsive - I had to really be slow and steady with the controls. Carried out another dive bomb attack and when rolling out aquire the target,. the jet was all over the place...then there was bang and the wing came off!!!! When the jet first started feeling "not normal" 5 minutes previously, I did wonder if anything was wrong, but could see no cautions etc... So is it modelled that the jet can be damaged by insensitive handling in this situation? and why no warnings? I would have thought the FCS would step in etc and you would at least get some cautions etc? I have many hours in the jet and never had anything like this happen before so am curious ? Random failures is off as well..... Thanks

The preferred method for landing tail wheel aircraft is often tail up, main wheels only. Like this ... Mosquito landing.mp4 However, this is impossible to do with the DCS Mosquito at present as no matter how little the vertical velocity is on touchdown there is a huge nose up pitch moment that cannot be counteracted. It seems that the full aircraft weight is being applied immediately at touchdown instead of ramping up slowly as weight is gradually transferred onto the wheels. I have flown many tailwheel aircraft in real life and all that is required is a minimum sink rate and to nudge the stick forward a bit when you feel the wheels touch. I would love to be able to do the same here.

I'm just trying to familirise myself with the Hornet, and I've tried several times now this mission were you are supposed to attack an Iranian column carring missiles. After a while a SAM battery shoots at me, but neither flare nor chaff releases when I hit the button. Usually in these instant action things, everything is online from the start.

Hello, i started to learn the hornet but it seems like that the coupled autopilot mode cannot be activated when a target is designated with the targeting pod (i tried with both lantirn and atflir). The "CPL" indication appears for a second on the UFC but then diseapears and i simply cannot get it working even if i followed the same steps as Matt Wagner on the tutorial video. Here is what i did : 1-Press "Auto" on the HSI 2-Press CPL on the UFC (it works nicely until now) 3-Press A/G then go to the flir page on the right mfd 4-SCS Right to control that screen then SCS right again to designate a target 5-Go back to the UFC and A/P : CPL is no longer present (it comes back when i cancel "TGT" on the HSI) Am i doing something wrong ? (I don't have any mods installed)

I don't have a track, it was long MP mission. My first GBU-38 hit the target and destroyed it. Next 5 GBUs hit their targets, there was an expolsion (so fuse was armed), but targets went unharmed. I returned to base, rearmed and reengaged, now none of 8 bombs did any damage, but they exploded.

I noticed this when I moved my head around with trackir. It seems that the HMCS shows correctly only in neutral head position. When you move your head down the display starts overlaping the cockpit, as if it the display zones are taken from the neutral position and do not compensate for the XYZ movement. I'm not sure if this is intended but I think that the MTU shouldn't allow it. How to reproduce: 1) Try looking around with the head centered and see that the HMCS disappears almost exactly on the edges of cockpit 2) Move head down and see the overlapping. Move the head right and see overlapping on the left and vice versa. Move the head up and see the HMCS disappear too soon before reaching the cockpit

I'm trying to drop a GBU-12 onto coordinates given by JTAC (lasing not possible) and using Litening II TGP for lasing. I input the coordinates, including ground height, given by JTAC into HSI into waypoint #5 and add waypoint #5 to SEQ2. Returning to the HSI page I select and box SEQ2, then dial in waypoint #5 and press OSB next to WYPT to box it. Then I press the OSB next to WPDSG to box it - boxed WYPT is replaced by boxed TGT. So far, so good. Open FLIR page and the target in the upper left corner are the exact coordinates as waypoint #5 including height. However, the CCD Designated Target Diamond is not locked to the target point; it is wandering across the ground. The coordinates in the upper left corner remain exact as they were from the beginning and are exactly equal to the waypoint #5 coordinates. Of course, since the CCD Designated Target Diamond is wandering across the ground, when I drop a GBU-12 when the laser turns on, it to is wandering across the ground and the bomb hits... wherever. What am I doing wrong?

After the latest update, I have not been able to get a single kill with an AIM7, shots within 15nm at Mach .9 25k on an F-pole, second shot taken at under 10nm. Impossible to score a hit. They're not even dumping chaff half the time. They dive for the deck and the missile goes stupid almost immediately. Run the 4v4 mission. Good luck and may God have mercy. EDIT: Just got 2. One of my SOPs before was to switch the RCS setting to the smallest setting. I tried not touching it and now the pk seems back to normal. Don't know if it's placebo or not but there you go.

Markpoints cannot be designated. Sorry now its working...

It has been a few months since I used the mav f and gmt. After locking tgt on radar and slaving to mav the seeker is no where near the tgt and I am only able to slew the mav seeker after un-designate the tgt. Is this the new normal or other issues. It is the same with both realistic slew and easy. Thanks

Pretty much as in the title. If the uplatch for either gear leg is destroyed, that gear leg will drop. However as I understand, even if the latch is destroyed, the motor for the gear leg will operate in order to keep that gear held up....even if it's not locked. At the moment, either the motors are somehow broken automatically when uplatches are, or the motors simply don't function once the gear was successfully raised once. An example for what I'd expect would occur is the Dora. For the Dora within DCS, if you destroy or disable the uplatches for both gear legs, the gear will remain up and retracted. The load on the motors will also increase if you pull intense G-loads, and this will actually cause the gear's weight to overcome the strength of the motors, and the gear will momentarily peak out, before retracting back up when the aircraft stops pulling G. All of this isn't the case with the Anton, as of now. Of a slightly different note, it seems that the Dora's gear motors also don't burn out. You can destroy the D9's uplatches, causing the motors to constantly run, and they will continuously operate for at least 40 minutes. I haven't tested it for a longer period of time. But this is, again, on a slightly different note.

Hi all, any ideas why why my DED display wouldn't work today? Could not even display DED information on the HUD. Both times in multiplayer on different world maps. Tried the DED display brightness knob - but that shouldn't affect the ability to display in the HUD. First time was in a hot start mission - no display from the start. Second time was cold start, and the DED display was there through the INS alignment, but disappeared as soon as I pressed return on the dobber, and I couldn't see how to get it back. Any ideas welcome...

I have read a number of posts on this subject and can't find any acknowledgement from ED. Are you working on it? Maybe a post explaining what you intend on doing or what's causing it would be great. Thanks.

At present, the introduction of aileron during high speed, high G flight will easily snap the wings off. This behavior is incorrect. The F-5E manual discusses this in some detail. It is clear that at the published limits, roll input up to the SPRING STOP may be initiated. Above the published limit, rolls may be initiated using roll input LESS THAN FULL (To the Spring Stop). Currently, high speed, high G roll inputs much less than to the SPRING STOP results in catastrophic wing failure. Please correct this.

Can not get Mav-F to fire over 3 miles range from target. Target is locked/tracking, get in range que, still won't fire until 3mi or less, by then it's a kamikaze attack.
