hey guys!there are some changes with the last 1.2.9 patch, which are not mentioned in the changelog...so far i have noticed:

 

-gun smoke towned down quite a bit (thx!)looks definitely better now!!

 

-airframe shakes when firing the guns now!(thx again ED, nice effect!)

 

-g-breath effect added(always wondered, why it was there for other aircraft, but not for the P51, thx again ED, nice effect)

 

-now, i also seem to feel a slight difference in the behaviour of the P51?im not totally sure whether its only me, or if indeed something changed(it seems, that the effect of the pilot has to use more force on control surfaces at higher speeds is modeled more pronounced now?)

 

-AI behaviour for both the P51 and the Fw190 seems to have changed as well?too early to really tell, but it seems that they are not that perfect marksmen anymore...i also think i noticed some difference in the general behaviour during a dogfight...it seems to last longer now, and the AI P51s dont kill the Fw190s that quickly anymore??? i cant really tell what it is, but it feels seems different now.

 

question to P51 pilots: anybody saw the Fw190 lizzard growing another tail yet with the latest patch?

 

 

what else guys?did you notice something else beeing changed with the latest patch?

great to see ED is making improvements........the old gun smoke used to be like a tornado, blocking out each wing during gunfire.....now.....i can see the wings through the smoke.....much better.....ill have to check it out more when i get back home......:-)

The AI P-51 and 190 are both flying more slowly through maneuvers. It is much easier to stay with them through steep climbs.

yes, i dont know whether they adjusted the skill levels different now, or if its a general change, but i noticed that definitely the fw190s do not longer have this marksmenship anymore(at least on skill level average)

 

also, i am more confident now, that the lizzard tail issue seems indeed to be gone now...killed probably about ~50 190s yesterday and didnt see a re-growing tail once.i did shot off a tail though once, of one of them, and i was happy to see it tumbling towards the ground without growing another one.

Hi,

I noticed one more new thing with Dora, canopy will not stay on plane after pilot bail and in air canopy is from Dora and not from F-15 (or A-10, before one patch was from P-51).

Tail from Dora in now cut and missing on the rest of plane.

I think that AI behaviour is slighty different too.

Although I haven't downloaded 1.2.9 as of yet, I find that the smoke issue should be number 1 priority for ED with this module as the slideshow makes the plane unplayable, besides it has been mentioned many times before. Another reason is the Dora getting released soon, so might as well fix that problem. I think I'll stay with my P-51D for now, at least till verifiable proof that gun smoke does not stutter the playability...

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

While gunsmoke seems correct almost always with me, I still did get opaque black smoke on antonov intercept quick mission once. I wonder if it's specific to that mission or to overcast weather setting of mission.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

Wow this is MUCH better now. Just went for a quick 1v1 against the 190 and managed to torch him pretty quickly whereas before it was just super frustrating! Welcome changes indeed :D

I'm finding the AI 190s to be very passive, while the AI P-51s are aggressive as heck. I have them set to the same settings in the mission editor.

 

Anyone else?

Just checked the P51vsFW190 mission on the single player and yes it has been changed. It didn't even fire in the head on or at all for that matter. Took less than 50 rounds to bring it down and was pretty easy compared to the old Ai 190. P51 does shake now when firing the .50s and now you have pilot breathing modeled in the mustang.

 

May have to hop onto the DOW server to see if DavidRed is easier to bring down now too. :smartass:

I don't know, I sprayed the AI with bullets...even got a head shot, it still refused to go down?

i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.

You're not alone. After reading the beginning of this thread, I jumped into the 1v1 with the 190 and although the changes are notable regarding the aggressiveness and accuracy of the 190 AI, I made him look like Swiss cheese and yet that plane was able to perform better than the day it came off the assembly line.:megalol: Perhaps later they (ED) will have time to work on the damage models for the AI to the degree they have with the planes we fly.:thumbup:

Because you missed the wire holding the tail fin and canopy together! Take that out, the aircraft folds and you get to beta ED's Hornet..

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

:), well, im not yet in a 190...but im sure from august 5th onwards i will face some trouble...and enjoy it!:thumbup:

I have a very strong impression that ground handling of the P-51 with tailwheel unlocked has been tuned somewhat as well. Up to that point, taxying in this mode has always been a pathetic and frustrating experience for me (I don't own proper rudder pedals and have my left/right brake assigned to one of the hats on TM throttle). Today, for the first time since updating to 1.2.9 I had to make some tight turns while getting to the runway and to my surprise the plane was quite controllable.

 

I've spent most of my time turning more or less where I wanted to instead of watching my plane hopelessly cartwheeling off the taxiway, while in previous version situation was usually opposite :D. Mind you, I'm absolutely sure my airmanship skills have NOT magically improved since last weekend!

This is placebo perception :-)

 

I have came across that same sensation with various aspects of controlling the ponny since I started using this special aircraft, a true masterpiece I must say!

 

 

It ends up being simply the fact that even without noticing it, the more we use it the more we learn how to do it, and sometimes looking back we don't even understand how it was possible to fall into some weird situations.

 

Experience and training are the only reasons IMO for us to find that "different" behavior...

Not sure about placebo in this case, because there was obviously no "experience and training" between my last idiotic taxying attempts in 1.2.8. and first flight in 1.2.9 a few days later. I agree with a general concept of Your message though.

Noticed all these too. Also lighting seems somehow better now, placebo? Don't know for sure but dogfights feels better than ever now...and updated Dora external model looks awesome! Can't wait next tuesday...
