Sci-Fi Aircraft

I am surprised that nobody has bothered to make any fiction craft, like the F-302 from stargate SG-1, or the Klingon Bird of Prey.

 

so, have any of these craft been made before here, or am I just insane for wanting one of these in DCS?

I have a 450,000 Poly Fully Animated F-302 and X-302,

But they were done under contract for MGM, so I cannot use them for entertainment purposes.

(too bad the game they were built for never saw the light of day.)

I mean, there are already reliable and totally trustworthy sources that state that "DCS: Tie Fighter" and also "DCS: Colonial Viper" are in development. Afaik public beta for the first is scheduled for 1st of April 2015.

In another thread someone suggested a "Borg Cube." I guess that would require a DCS Federation map and/ or DCS Neutral Zone, if map size is a limitation? Nobody is going to want to fly a cube on the current map, right? :smilewink:

About the ficitional aircraft, I'm going to be on the non-nut side because I think it would diminish the image of the real aircraft, but I'm mostly talking about the super futuristing autopiloted craft that don't really need a pilot other than pressing a few buttons, I consider that way too easy as others probably would too.

 

However if you look at the term "fictional aircraft" that encompases pretty much anything including SciFi, but if you pick some standard era, not even a combat plane, which would be easier to realize, since no govt would want to fund an older design for a military plane, it would be interesting that a draft mod around some kind of a unique fictional would be started in DCS and then some company in real life would like it and actually build it, but ofcourse they would figure out all the rest that a software mod didn't even attempt, and when it's done, you would be able to construct a model from that real version of the craft, so the simulator would simulate something real in the end, that might just work without breaking "DCS authenticity rules" heh.

 

I don't think you can get closer than that.

 

There's another "similar" thing tho which I had on my mind for months, which isn't that fictional but ... it may be if it is forgotten, and ED could have more chances looking at that more seriously, old historic aircraft that aren't fliable anymore and only sit in museum, or at least fly only on special occasions, some kind of a deal on grounds of cultural & history preservation could be made with Russian Govt (and/or others) to do all the research and try to bring those aircraft into DCS so there's some kind of a record kept if someone would want to rebuild it later but also for newer generations to enjoy, however it would be a good idea to do this early when old pilots are still alive.
