Not sure if this has been asked and answered...

Will mission builders be able to use "correct" call signs for Client Aircraft? I.E. 11, 12, 13 etc?

Sierra

Not sure if it's going to happen right on 1.5, but I recall Wags saying that in the newer version client will be able to use 2, 3 and 4th slots. So, for MP, you can create a single flight with up to 4 slots.

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

I have Sapphire Taxic R9 280x from my old Build just the cpu is new 4790K i bought it since 1 year ago, i play Battlefield 4 - call of duty Bo3 beta , bo2 , GTA V , highest settings no lag, but in DCS im having 40 - 20 Frames, i think because the game is old, anyway my new build 6th gen of cpu and 980 TI is coming next 2 weeks :D

I would not do that, since 2016 nvidia will release pascal which is supposed to be way faster than 9 series. Idk about you guys but i point at playng with oculus rift and soon maybe even some kind of 4k vr headset so thats going to require a lot of resources. And speaking about that: is any support for htc vive planned? Apparently it works better than oculus

That is because you use an AMD GPU and AMD have not supported DX9 for their drivers since 2009. Obviously EDGE will use DX11 so that should see a boost with AMD GPUs.

AMD's DX11 Drivers arent any better, lol, look at what happens when you take a Engine and remove the Driver from the equation and have instructions go directly to the hardware in the Vulkan and DX12 benches...

That being said,

a Misconception so far is that DCS1.5+ is merely a move to DX11 to get better FPS w/ existing hardware.

While that is one of the benefits, the expectations of a few to run DCS at Max settings on a Entry level or Mid Level GPU is a bit overzealous. (ie GTX660,760, 750, etc)

Max Settings on EDGE/1.5/2.0/DX11 does not Equal Max Settings of TFCSE 1.x.x.x/DX9.

The Move from DX9 to DX11 isnt just a simple renderer API Swap allowing one to further max his GFX Settings.

Skate do you know if any if the present aircraft are having new textures made to take advantage of features in the new renderer. Or is it only new modules that might do this.

Playing with the EDM exporter in Max recently I noticed that you can add heaps more texture layers to existing models than what the current modules take advantage of. I'm curious also about the existance of a layer just for ambient occlusion. - that would let you keep your diffuse clean so the renderer could use more physically based techniques.

This is a great question that should be posted to the next Q&A thread.

I'd love to think that all of the playable birds would eventually be updated to take advantage of the possibilities offered by the new engine. Starting with the Ka-50, of course... ;)

Where do you get your Infos from?

The DX 11 drivers are as good as the from nVidia.

A differens is only to see if "Gamesworks" from nVidia has touched the game.

I smell a bad thing here! :(

HOTAS Sticks: Moza FFB A9 Base with TM F16 Stick, FSSB R3 Base with TM F16 Stick

Rudder: WinWing Orion Metal

AMD's DirectX 11 Drivers are still 15-35% Behind nVidia in benchmarks of other engines using similar hardware.

DirectX 12 offers a huge boost to AMD because the driver bottleneck is no longer present.

However, there is a significant improvement over AMD's significantly outdated DX9C Drivers.

To Put in perspective, 15.7, 15.7.1, 15.20 (leaked Oculus Driver), 15.8, and the next driver all use the same AMD DirectX 11 Driver DLL Version. only thing changed is the game profiles to enable/disable specific things to get better performance etc.

However it's all Off Topic, as it has nothing to do w/ DCS1.5/2.0's Confirmed Features.... So that ends that discussion, there's plenty of AMD Threads in the Hardware section to discuss.

Are we getting multi-crew with 1.5 where a friend can fly with me in my Huey?

The status of Huey and Mi-8 multicrew is unknown. At the moment they are simply using the L-39 as a testbed for it to get it working. Additionally it is said that it won't be in the initial release for the L-39.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

I've noticed that the improvement of cloud has been removed from the features list of DCS 2.0. Does that mean ED decide to use current cloud effect instead of developing a new one?

Improved weather also includes clouds. So why you think that better clouds are not coming?

Customers that purchased DCS: A-10C Warthog while it was in beta (prior to February 21st, 2011) will be provided this map FOR FREE! Key will be available in the your personal section on the DCS site soon.

Hmm interesting, I just looked at my 'Account history' in the 'Profile' section of the DCS site and there is no mention of my purchase of A10 Beta or the original Blackshark. I wonder how this will work.

Should be a list of purchase dates in your account information under Profiles and My Orders. Should have a list of purchases in the cart and when you bought it.

"Solid Trees"? Please specify.

As someone that loves to fly the Black Shark more than anything else, I am extremely interested in learning whether the trees will provide cover for me from AI (or player, if they know where I am and playing in a Combined Arms module) in DCS 2.0.

One of the worst experiences playing DCS was the day that I found out that AI can see and shoot through trees, rendering one of the hallmarks of attack helicopter tactics (hiding) moot.

What is meant by "solid trees"? Is it just the trunk of the tree? Will there be some visibility through some layer of the outer branches? Will bullets and missiles "hit" all of the tree or just a hard part somewhere in the middle? Will some parts of the tree deflect projectiles more or less than other parts?

What will the AI "see"?

I know that many people playing DCS now fly well off the ground and for their purpose this may not be that important, but keeping in mind that DCS started with the Black Shark, an attack helicopter that is very intimate with the ground, and for the future to make Combined Assault more realistic and enjoyable I would like to see some effort put into making the ground objects' physics more realistic in general.

Thank you,I was confused by the change of the list. Now I feel relieved .

Wags stated in one of his videos that this is a work-in-progress. In the NTTR map, trees around the urban areas will be collidable. Trees in the rural areas will not be collidable in the initial release of DCS World 1.5/2.0 while ED tries to optimize performance. And all trees will be see-through for the time being until, again, ED can optimize performance. But they are working on it. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything will be done for the Black Sea map for the near future.
