I have to agree with mwd2, it isn't hard. (Although I have to admit I am in fact a programmer :D)

No, seriously. For many things you don't even need triggers. Just place stuff in the editor and use the editor's functions to set the stuff you need.

And if you need triggers there are some tutorials out there. Just search Youtube for these words: "DCS" "trigger"

It really isn't that hard. It is even fun! Try it! :)

IIRC Wags stated that the mission builder won't change much. I don't see why it would to be honest, it's quite powerfull.

Eeeehhnnnn... I disagree with the mission editor being powerful. The mission editor is severely limited in a lot of ways, even when expanded with scripts. The UI is fine and dandy, but I'd love to have a lot more triggers, conditions, granularity in AI control...

As a person who cannot write a single line of code, I'm constantly bumping into the limitations of the mission editor. While I won't be heartbroken if I don't get more features, it'd make me a very happy boy.

I'd love to be able to have a scoreboard in my missions, that i could use flag values to keep track of.

Practice makes perfect.

The actual plan has DX11 only. No plans actually of DX12 support.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135473

Some features we plan to include in DCS World 2 include:

Direct X 11 support

Improved performance

Dynamic shadowing of the terrain and mountains

Improved weather

Improved lighting

Clipmap support for new maps

Higher object counts

Higher resolution ground terrain mesh and textures for new maps (between 1 and 64 meters per pixel depending on area of map and clipmap level)

More detailed tree models with collision for new maps

Better graphical effects

High resolution road textures for new maps

Ability for road signs and light signals for new maps

Additional ground clutter (rocks, cactuses, etc.) for new maps

Skeleton animation for infantry

Better use of multiple GPUs (CPU multi-threading is not being pursued as it will provide little if any gain)

Ability to create dedicated servers in the future

Unified front end and simulation .exe

Improved API sound support

Improved Oculus Rift support

I don't see anything conflicting with the original feature list.

The release of DCS World 2.0 is entirely dependant upon whether any more bugs are discovered that will need to be addressed prior to release.

The last thing said about Edge 2.0 said this...

"We are burning the midnight oil and we will release an alpha of Nevada Test and Training Range map once we feel it is ready. Before we can do so though, there are still several items that need to be addressed. These will also include: completing the new multiplayer interface, performance optimization, various unified .exe issues, remaining crashes, and some night lighting issues."

As clearly stated there, they will release Edge into Alpha when they feel it is ready. There is more to be done still, and they have no firm date for release, and they clearly have several more things to address before they can even consider giving firm dates. They have not given any timetable, and as such, all we have to go on is that the process is ongoing, and they are pushing a lot of time and resources into it.

Kindly stop all this nonsense of speculating. You don't know when because ED themselves cannot set a date until they have resolved all the outstanding issues. All you can say with any certainty is that no one yet knows when, but we all just hope it is soon.

And that isn't just dead serious, it is also the true state of affairs!

Edge in alpha? Dcs 2.0 is first thing to come and that's a beta. Using the incorrect terminology will only further confuse the populace

This is just my understanding, but I think when 2.0 comes out it will be Beta, but the map will be Alpha, I could be wrong, its a little confusing I know. I am just basing this on how long 2.0 has been available to the tester group.

I guess alpha would be released earlier than beta, so somewhat it does matter before the release ;)
