No only the Wingtip Launchrails are able to carry Aim-9s.

 

All other Pylons are Air-Ground or Fuel tanks only

It does indeed not stand a chance against modern fighters, at least not in BVR. It's a 3rd generation fighter aircraft and is comparable to the MiG-21. It has seen action in Vietnam and has been exported to many countries. It has been used in the US Air Force Agressor Squadrons till 1990 and still serves in the Navys Agressor squadrons, because of it's great maneuverability.

 

The Navy and Marine pilots I spoke with in the past were all terrified of the F-5 when flying their F-18's and Harriers.

This is actually an interesting dynamic. The pilots I used to speak with were referring to the training that takes place from Key West, Florida.

 

Normally, when I think of trying to defeat a fighter that has better radar, I'm going to want to hide in ground clutter and ambush them as they fly past or something similar. The funny thing is, Florida and the surrounding Caribbean area is about as 2D as it gets. There is nothing to hide behind, and the land is about as flat as the ocean around there. Somehow, the instructors in their F-5's were able to get the drop on F-18's and Harriers with those cool radars, and the earlier F-14 with its giant flashlight.

 

I should have asked more about how they did this when I had the chance. I did note that the Hornet pilots found the F-5's to be extremely frustrating to fight against because they were notoriously difficult to see and tended to pop up in the rear quarter after it was too late to get away from them. Apparently, once they get saddled up, there's not much you can do to escape.

I think the exact release time is normally ED's call, as they release the new modules in friday updates recently, which normally works out late evening european time (3-5pm gmt). Free to be corrected though.

I think they mean that tomorrow we can pre buy the module and it will be available in July... the only advantage of buying now is the discount...

For me "early access" means beta... and final release means leaving beta state and reaching the final version... And That's what hapened with every other model until this day...

The way I see it, it is the way it has always been :

 

Tomorrow it will be opened to prepurchase : we will be able to buy with %20 off, and still get the bonus points, and will get the serial.

 

Actual access to module itself will happen at a later date. Now, this may be earlier than July but, from what I see, I expect it to be July.

 

So yeah, as much as I want to, no F-5 flying for us tomorrow I guess :)

Either flying between city blocks and under bridges, or putting a convoy on map and let 'er rip with AG ordnance :P. Or may be already dogfighting a bit.

What I always love to do with any new module - take off, fly the pattern, and land. Rinse and repeat! :)
