FoxHoundELite Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Have a question about upcoming Red Flag campaign :I have a question: will the Blue actually shot down enemy Red Air in the campaign in-game ? Or they just simulated the shot down scenario like in real Red Flag op? Edited November 10, 2015 by FoxHoundELite Feel the Rush of Superior Air Power [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
theGozr Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 1.5.1 is still using the old clouds. They will be replaced with a new system soon. Great ! Fly it like you stole it..

Or they just simulated the shot down scenario like in real Red Flag op? I remember Wags answered that in a Q&A video and it's not on the menu. Real shots for now. They didn't consider the simulated shots in a near future, partly because it would imply a significant work on the AI (iirc). /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
Abburo Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Why should we simulate shots in a simulator ? :D Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
QuiGon Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I'm curious: Why is this thread in the DCS World forum and not in the DCS World 1.5 Open Beta forum? Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I can imagine that this could be solved by creating special invisible training weapons (no 3D models) with no warheads. Those weapons would fly and be modeled in the same way as the real weapons. Upon impact however the sim could register hits, but no damage would be done. Afterwards using the already implemented trigger system you could force AI to return to base after hit or switch off radar after being hit by such invisible weapon with no warhead. This probably could also be modded. No AI work required.

Worked pretty well. Unfortunately, lost the mission when my hard drive crashed.
Gary Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Maybe another method which might me easy to implement would be for all to be set to imortal? - If your hit it registers and you have to RTB? The difficult part is how you make someone comply I suppose but maybe a trigger of some kind that renders your aircraft unable to fire any weapons or similar could be done? Mike5560 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) With the new 1.5.1 update I'm noticing some jittery movement. Especially in the Mig-21. I thought it was frame rate, but Im getting 100+ at altitude and 60+ down low from the counter.....it literally feels like 20-30 fps. I had great performance with 1.5, and used the same video setting that I have now.\ Any ideas? edit: there's a thread about it pertaining to the MiG: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152004 Edited November 11, 2015 by Mike5560
kontiuka Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 can you do that kind of simulated shot downed scenario again for upcoming RF campaign?(with virtual weapons of course)I wouldn't be able to modify the Eagle Dynamics Red Flag campaign because all the mission triggers would be protected. I could remake my mission again though and share and people could do what they wanted with it.
whitehot Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 We need a hotfix soon! Can't play now due the annoying "fog"- layer bug. Too ugly :D I find it really awful too. I was hoping they would release an hotfix soon, due to the horrible effect it does on the simulator, but nothing so far. Can't say I'm all that eager to fly, at least not as before. Brisse Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 What's all this fuzz about the "fog layer"? Last time I checked, real life didn't have perfect visibility either. :)

It amazes me the amount of people who seem to forget that it is a beta and were told way at the beginning by Wags "There will be bugs." It also amazes me they don't seem to understand the purpose of this beta is for the customers to help ED find the bugs so they can squash them, more quickly than if beta weren't released at all. Wish people would keep some perspective on this. 1

I wonder if you 'll ever be able to forgive us - sometimes the temptation of a little whine here and there is high - specially for an issue that would have been spotted running it only once. Dahlbeck Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 It's beta, yes. But still it has turned most of the community into the beta branch, even those who'd previously never care for that. But I'm sure ED is aware of that. :-)
zaelu Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 That ^^^ Visual bugs that are really turning players off should be addressed quickly(er) at least with a revert to previous version. As I said, I can wait for the fix but me and the few friends I play with haven't start DCS since 1.51. Maybe is nothing, maybe is something. Maybe ED has some tool within the game that shows them real time how many are playing every day (at least the connected to internet ones and maybe a offline report for those that are not) and if that number drops significantly after an update maybe something should be done... faster. It's possible that other bugs are not spotted just because there are not enough players to play and see/test. And lets be serious... after you play 1.5 and put some mods in it... there is no 1.2.16. We have it just to have what to update when 1.5 gets out of beta. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
NeilWillis Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The fact that so many of us only play 1.5 - even in Beta says that it is a big step forwards. It is however still just a testing platform, and should be seen as such. Once a bug has been reported, that should be the end of it. There is no point complaining about issues. They will be fixed when they're fixed, and until then, you just have to accept them. Do you honestly think ED deliberately spoil your fun? We're close to the end of a long and complex development program, and the end results are excellent. What do you want from ED, miracles or just the impossible? 2
