Dav IRL Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 New map will be so refreshing. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk 4.8 I7, 1080, TMW&T, SSD, VKB MK.IV.
sim_guy Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 GBut if you're really that strung out over what amounts to $5 per module, maybe you should rethink your budget. I think your math is wrong, but I have never been good at math :)
siraccord Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Wait, so only people who pre-ordered the A10C will have access to this map?? When will everyone else get to try it out?
siraccord Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 When you buy it... I did, it will be available to everyone the same day? Or to a10c pre-purchasers first?
ED Team Wags Posted November 21, 2015 ED Team Posted November 21, 2015 Yes, it will be available to everyone on the same day. The only difference is that those that purchased A-10C while it was still in beta got the map for free. 1 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544

Lucky Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 When will those of us who bought the A-10 in beta get our license?. You should already have it. You have to log into your account. fastfreddie Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I wouldnt expect the sales to change much, its been stated that the days of large % off are a thing of the past. I don't know that killing off the large sales completely is the best idea either. Modules that have been out quite awhile should be discounted heavily if they want to attract attention. I know that some us will pick up some modules that are a great deal that we would not have gotten otherwise. The biggest problem DCS had was putting newly released products on sale for 50-70%. TBH I rarely have the time to fly all my current modules much less buy fringe items for me like the Mig-21 unless its a great deal. $40 trainer aircraft ... forget about it. If I'm paying $40-50 for an aircraft it had better be of considerable interest to me or be highly complex like a F-15/F-16.
molevitch Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Fer Krissakes! When are you guys gonna stop whining about the price of modules, or the relative cost of modules on sale discount? I just played 2 hours on MI-8, and an hour on UH-1. I practiced my landings on both, just skating on the edge of vortex rings, or doing flared landings on tiny spots of terrain, roofs, oil rigs. And for this much fun and pleasure I paid £23/$35 MONTHS AGO!!!! ONCE!!! Where else can you get this much entertainment again and again and again, every time you fire up DCS, for so little outlay? Seriously? 1 SCAN Intel Core i9 10850K "Comet Lake", 32GB DDR4, 10GB NVIDIA RTX 3080, HP Reverb G2. Custom Mi-24 pit with magnetic braked cyclic and collective. See it here: Molevitch Mi-24 Pit. King_Hrothgar Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I got about 2000 hours of enjoyment out of Skyrim and its DLC (about $80 total). I've gotten about the same out of the Ka-50 (also about $80 between BS1 and BS2). I've gotten no more than 40 hours out of the Bf-109K, Fw-190D, P-51D, F-86 and MiG-15 combined. I spent about $80 between the 5 of them. The only aircraft in DCS I am genuinely into are the MiG-21bis and Ka-50. I have all the others (except trainers) but if the price effectively triples moving forwards, I'm only going to buy what I really truly want. The stuff I would have previously bought (like the WW2 and korean war stuff) to either show support or just to try out when on sale I simply won't buy moving forwards. That money will instead be spent on other things. And that's the point. The stuff I am still going to buy is stuff I was going to buy at full price or pre-order price anyways. But the stuff I'd previously pick up cheap on sale I simply won't buy at all under the new pricing system. Thus ED's overall income off me as an individual player will decrease substantially with this setup. I am but a single player of course and I've been known to take unusual positions at times, but I don't think this is one of them. Edited November 22, 2015 by King_Hrothgar
=Mac= Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I have two hobbies: Sailing and flying DCS WORLD. Between them, I have 10's of thousands of dollars invested in hardware over the years. You think $100 is too much to pay? Go play FSX and other arcade kids' games. There is nothing on the planet that comes close to what DCS WORLD has become except military simulators. They run into the millions of dollars. Yeah, $100 isn't too much to ask. ED asks for what they think is a fair price. I don't question it. 1 The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

That money will instead be spent on other things. There is nothing wrong with that at all. You should make purchases based on what you think is the most sensible consumer decision, and ED will set prices on what they think is the most sensible producer decision. ED isn't going to take it personally when you decide not to buy one of their modules. No harm done. Thus ED's overall income off me as an individual player will decrease substantially with this setup.ED has access to more data than we do. That is up to them to decide. If they think the new pricing system is less effective than the old one, they could go back. After all, everything is subject to change. You think $100 is too much to pay?Yes, I do, and I won't buy any module that costs that much. ED will make more money with prices that appeal to the mass market. Again, it's up to them. I don't care if they sell a module for $500. I just won't be buying it. Edited November 22, 2015 by VincentLaw [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sim_guy Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Seems that ED has stirred up a Hornet's nest with the new pricing system. I myself will stay away until I see the prices drop as well
TJTAS Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I tend to base things on how long it would take to work to pay for them. Even working behind the bar i can make $25 per hour. So if a module costs $50 its only equivalent to working 2 hours. Therefore if I get at least 2 hrs use or enjoyment out of it then its break-even. If you play with it for longer than that its all bonus hours.

That's the way I see it too :) At the same time it is also getting harder and harder owning every module that comes out and paying full price, simply because there are so many I know I will never get around to fly many of them properly. So these sales are great! I can see that in the future there might be bundles going for sale like a few WW2 Fighters or something like that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
