maybe its better . we can only buy the modules we want desperately and get pro on it. otherwise peaople start to make a collection of modules and don't play with them.

btw if 2.0 will come within 10 days, when we will get 1.5 stabnle or we will just skip it?

Yeah, you're right. :)

I'll just buy less modules and buy the ones who will bring more for the same price. $50 F-18C vs $50 dollar trainer or WW2 plane...

A very easy choice to make. :)

Thanksgiving would be a great time for 2.0/Nevada/Mirage.. So many people have a week off at that time!

Indeed it would . I on the other hand will be out of town for that week, but that is ok as I recently retired and now have plenty of time for flying.

So I can make up for it when I return!

Well those overseas-rituals don't apply to my neck of the woods (no week long holidays anyway), but I take any excuse for getting my hands on NTTR. :D

Same here. I'd say sometimes it's better to sell at a higher discount, than not to sell at all.

It's always better to have 5 sales at 100% than 10 at 30%. If they changed their discount level, it is because obviously they were going the wrong way. Everyone was waiting for sales to buy modules, they surely had a big drop in regular sales.

30% is already a good discount - and discount period are really frequent.

Im not concerned about Sales or %. What keeps me from purchase is that I want to see 1.5 or 2.0 or whatever it wil be called, as a stable and working and MP ready release... see how it works for me and then I will think about any purchases. Since Flanker 2.0 I have bought the basically same content often enough by now.

Nevada includes campaigns currently?

Campaign s available separately

I thought if you got the map because of the A-10C beta purchase the campaigns were separate but if you buy the map outright you get the campaigns as well? Either way I'm all in but just wanted clarification.

True, but what if it is 50 sales at $15 vs 5 sales at $50? It's hard to know how it all balances out and even ED doesn't know tbh. They've always done $40-60 as full price but I've often wondered if they would be better off using the industry standard addon price of $20-30 instead. Sales would then be reduced to only 20% off and offered only maybe twice a year at most. That might be a better model.

On a related note, we should consider overall appeal and content. Why should someone pay $50 for an Fw-190D that has zero content and offers about 2 hours worth of training when they can get a Ka-50 for the same price that has 5+ campaigns, a suitable map, dozens of AI units and many hours of learning instead? From a development standpoint, they are also quite different. The most complicated system on one of them is the cockpit light dimmer knob while the other is covered in sensors and has multiple navigation systems. Even from purely the developer's standpoint, one is clearly more valuable than the other. Charging the same price for both is just silly. The old sales system made such things unimportant as those less desirable types ended up being things players picked up cheap during a sale, with only the die hard fans buying them at full price. Make them full or near full price all the time though, and that full price needs to be adjusted to better reflect what's actually being offered.

Edit: Got super ninja'd, also, charge your phone battery. :P

Less actually, I'm in the USA and plan on working Thursday morning. I also have classes that week, just not on Thanksgiving day itself.

Very true. I have worked more than a few over the years.

Why should someone pay $50 for an Fw-190D that has zero content and offers about 2 hours worth of training [...]

Well I just spent more than two hours discussing the intricacies of the Fw-190D9's bank indicator, its meaning during level flight, and the correct use of rudder in level flight as well as in turns (gaining and refining my knowledge of some fundamental aviation concepts all along the way). The Focke Wulf may not be your module of choice, but I don't think you're doing it justice by "2 hours worth of training".

Another line of thought which I think hasn't yet been mentioned in this thread is: Since we're a relatively small community of flight sim enthusiasts, I wouldn't be surprised if a single module was at least as expensive as some of our HOTAS and head tracker gear.

By following what is more or less the standard rate for video games these days, I think ED are basically giving their stuff away (well, with DCS World as such, they actually do give it away for free :smartass:).

Those 60% sales were a safe way to shoot themselves in the foot IMO. I did participate in a few of them, but eventually I would have gotten the modules anyway.

Anticipating the next 60% sale right around the corner, I did wait with some purchases that I thought were interesting but which I didn't feel the need to have right away, so as far as I am concerned, I think it makes sense to have a maximum discount around 40% during a sale.

Hi all, a little update:

Yes, we are still pushing very hard to release DCS World 2.0 and the Nevada map open alphas by the end of this month. At this time, all looks good as we kill bugs and add some more content. However, as we continue testing, it is of course possible that a blocking bug could rear its ugly head and change our plans a bit.

We are proud that we have a good record in achieving our pre-sell / open beta release dates. Over the last few years, we only slightly missed announced open beta dates twice (Fw 190D due to internal server issues and the L-39 due to the release version not being ready) and in both cases it was only by a single day.

We hope to have DCS World 2.0 and the NTTR map to you soon.

Thanks!

Guys - products cost money. It's pretty straightforward. If you have a problem with it, don't buy it. You don't HAVE to own or install every module unless you want to specifically learn how to fly that module.

The $50 is much cheaper than flight lessons, sourcing and renting or buying the actual aircraft. It can't seriously surprise you if you've been playing games for any length of time over the past several years especially - with the rise of tons of DLC for every AAA title out now. Which, by the way, never goes on sale.

Except more often than not, foregoing the purchase of that DLC breaks the compatibility for multiplayer with people who do own the DLCs.

Here you're meant to pick and choose what you want to fly - if you want everything, you're going to have to suck it up. If you want to wait for the sales to buy everything, you're going to have to expect to pay that extra 10% now. But if you're really that strung out over what amounts to $5 per module, maybe you should rethink your budget.

Ah, Open Alpha. I forgot about that. That means just for those that bought the A-10C in beta. Ah well, I can't fly right now anyway.
