Doesn't seem to be working for me. The runways/taxiways still look the same. The rest of the terrain is the mod. Can't figure it out.

I like this new dirties, oil slick ect. the colour from long distance is proper now. Thx again!

Besides the folders and files for MacOS was there any significant difference Starway? Would be a pity to download the same files again, I removed all the unnecessary files and folders and the mod was working very well.

 

 

Speaking o the Mod. I like how you made the trees, how you tweaked the luas and the subforest, the mountains, the fields, the airports! Very fine job you did.

 

I have found that in LandTexturesAutumnOther the files: alleja2(verh).tga, alleja2.tga, r_dub.tga, r_sosna.tga were not colorized as per Autumn season but rather summer or spring. Was it intentional?

 

Also, the Noise1 is nicely done do avoid pattern formation but I find variants of Kavkaz ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=155116 ) being a bit more lively even if a bit of pattern do appear (I use noise1persquare 2 instead of 4). The small noise texture I saw you went for a blurred one instead of a rather sharper and detailed one like others. I also changed it because it looks better when flying low or using Combined Arms... the "blurry bumpiness" is replaced with a bit of "fake" detail... could be "de gustibus"

 

Oh, and another file I like to use from an old mod is the small texture for An-2.

DLC Update 1.1

First update for Caucasus DLC by Starway released!

 

This updates includes:

 

1) Several minor corrections of the base textures, including mountains, noise, and summer distance textures.

 

2) Runways: All runway textures have been retouched. High resolution runway textures have been colour corrected. Former low res textures have been exchanged by completly new, highly detailed and highly resoluted textures.

Installation via JGSME. Unzip file, copy and paste the complete content into your JGMSE-mod folder and overwrite old files.

hi starway, may i ask that which dds file is for the new grass texture? can we have green grass for spring and summer while withered color for autumn and winter?

Great from high up BUT as I fly rotary wings 100% when you are low and dirty, to me, the ground appears totally overcooked and, well, pretty awful a lot of the time....

 

Just my view now, and of course YOU CANNOT PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME....

Thanks for your feedback, but both of your comparison pictures are showing parts of my textures. For example the ones you declare as Normal DCS still have my "small noise"(grass texture which is visible when you are very close). So I take this as a compliment. :)

Download the original, then they have to download the update and integrate the two?

 

There might be case for both a download link and an update link.

It is hard to spot ground units in real life with the naked eye, especially if they are trying to hide. Pilots used binoculars, nowadays targeting pods obviously. So use the zoom a lot :D

Well i'm just doing the instant action a10a mission, just tank columns and bmp groups out in the open, no camo netting (i've put up my share of camo netting on real life SAMs), i feel like i need to be within a slightly unrealistic visible range before the vehicle's body take shape.

Ground vehicles are impossible to spot visually (compered to stock textures) on open fields, grass etc. Even if I know where they are, I can't see them, until it's to late to aim & shoot.

 

I don't see any dirt rotor-wash from helis when landing on terrain.

 

Anybody else having those problems?

Guys please stop whining around and welcome to reality. If you want unrealistic looking textures supporting ground units beeing sitting ducks go with the stock terrain. You can't have both!
