Captain Orso
Let's not forget the the aircraft in DCS are all 'historical', and consequently the time frame as well. DCS only produces basically obsolete aircraft, with the exception of the A-10C, because these are the only aircraft for which the technical information is fully, or nearly fully, available. So, what the weather is now, is inconsequential. What it was like 10 and more years ago, is. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. gavagai
The climate of a region is public knowledge. For the Caucasus map the main challenge is that the region contains different climates. Southern Russia is colder than Georgia, so it would make sense for one part of the map to have snow while the other does not. Captain Orso
Maybe I was reading too much into people talking about not needing to have as much snow in winter mission because of climate change, and maybe you just haven't been paying attention to the thread. Spudknocker
In video games, regardless if its flight sims or FPS's or anything in between I tend to prefer snow/winter terrains to have a deep snow/lots of snow look to them to really emphasize that its winter. Weta43
Exactly. So, looks like there's more snow needed to be as close to reality. :) Thanks for the support. I don't know if you're joking, but if not I'd say you're reading it wrong. First the scales saying how many days/month snow falls are all missing, so all you can really say from those images is that Sukhumi had no snow days at all in 2013. Second - there are only 2 cities in those graphs that have any months with an average temperature below zero in the last 8 years. Tbilisi has only 2 years (2011 & 2012) where the average temperature for the month is below zero - for what looks like 1 month in 2011 & 2 in 2012 that's 3 months in 8 1/2 years.. Dioknisi genuinely looks like you might expect to see full snow over the ground every winter. All the other graphs show cities where you'll see snow sometimes after bad weather, but wouldn't expect to see it on the ground every day. Sukhumi snowfall / day's snow (& it's snow fallen, not cm of standing snow) shows that in the last year shown, the greatest amount of snow to fall in any month was 10cm, but in a month with an average temp of about +8 C, that's not going to stand on the ground for very long. Those graphs really show that for 4 of the 5 cities shown, even in the coldest months, on average Winter should show patchy snow not full ground cover Cheers. aairon
I don't give a damn how much snow is there as long as there is a 'there' to snow upon. Give us some territory to fly in, then bitch about what's in there later, right now folks are arguing over something that only exists for the developers. I expect if they keep up with posting pretty pictures in great detail, god forbid folks start asking for deer and bunnie rabbits running around in the spring and doing wildlife surveys to prove it. 1 Flying sims since 1980 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Mobo: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming CPU: i7 6700K @ 4.7 GHz Video: EVGA GTX 1080 Ram: Patriot DDR4 2800 8GBx2 PWR:Corsair RM750i

aairon
I'm practically desperate enough to go with no trees whatsoever lol no snow just the texture wire frame model with hard surfaces. :-D P.S.
