Since this system is being designed for the F/A-18 Hornet, I would like to request that it too features on the A-10C in a future update.

 

Please take a look at this article, not because of the cute girl (it's ok too), but because of what she's wearing on the Warthog cockpit... yes, a HMD system. This is such a great addition to the A-10C. Please consider this.

Looks like a Scorpion, The US seems to have lagged behind in the deployment of these beauties. The RAF was using helmet mounted cueing nearly 20 years ago for example. Makes getting eyes on to what the FACs want you to look at much quicker.

I don't think ED will change the A-10C Suit 3 to a more modern Suit 8.

This is not going to happen. The A-10C was developed under a contract with the U.S. military. There are many things that have been added to the A-10C since the Suite 3 version that we have and it is highly likely that ED does not have permission to include many of them.

This. ED develeoped a specific version of the A-10C (the so called "Suite 3") which features no HMD. The current A-10Cs in US service are something like Suite 7 or higher.

To a Suite 8 ED require....

1. Signed a "new" contract to upgrade to Suite 7/8

2. Great quantity of Legal work to get a "approved".

 

Remember the case of AGM-65 Laser Maverik, suppressed by ED from the A-10C code when a modder found a "shadow" code and get enable them by a MOD. ED has actually your hand tied vs any "upgrade" meanwhile can not "suppressed" the old military contract terms signed by the military and get a new.

If its worth it, paying for an improved and updated A-10c is fine....upgrades cost money in RL aswell :)

Whether, such a thing would fit into EDs plans for the not too distant future aside, I would like to know whether ED considers a Suite 7/8is A-10c even possible, from a classification hence contract point of view?

 

Does the F/A-18 we will get have some of that tech?

JHMQS and AIM-9X Block 1 & 2 are qualified and have been deployed on A-10C in ACC and ANG units are getting them based on their Tier ranking and deployability. Yes it would be nice to have, but it is a new 'classified' system. Falcon4 and BMS have deployed one on open sources. It is stated to have 60 degree off bore sight and over shoulder LockOnAfterLaunch capability under F-15C, F-15E, F-16C Block 50 and higher, F/A-18C/D/E/F/G?. It is cleared for F15, F16, F18, A-10C, Typhoon, Grippen, and Rafale. IAI have developed a similar retrofit system for MIG-21 LancerR, and biSon.
