Hello,

I am having issues with shadows in the cockpit which aren't well rendered (see pic below). This happens at max settings (except Depth of Field), in different planes and in both NTTR and caucasus.

I tried using the NVidia Control Panel instead and played with many parameters including the transparency AA (x8 supersampling) but to no avail. The shadows are still very sawtooth-like.

Does anybody know how to fix this ? Is there a way to increase AA specifically for the shadows ?

Thanks

I find the shadow jaggies too intrusive to be usable, so I've altered the shadows from default high, to flat, which is better than nothing, but gets rid of them.

Its a shadow map, a generated texture of given size, used as shadow. So no amount of AA can get rid of the jaggies. It will need some magic in the shader - shouldnt be too hard though, or just increased size.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

This is really immersion-breaking to me. The cockpit, the lighting, all is superbly rendered yet spoiled by the canopy jagged shadows traveling around...

I guess I'll stick with "flat" shadows too.

Same problem with 2.5. Everything is beautiful exept the horrible saw-teeth shadows. They are really ugly and anoying. :(

The added effect is that as they move they create a shimmer effect (Shadows are not actually shimmering, but at certain movement speeds can create that effect) which adds to the problem with them. I hope they can fix it now that they can focus on 2.5 only.

This is clearly affecting many people: this topic has about ten posts yet thousands of views...

Can ED please comment on that issue? Is it being addressed?

My Guess: They're aware and a review of most of the +1's only confirm (vs report) what they already know or guessed. The whack-a-mole process of improvement continues.

But, +1 for me.

Shadows overall are really letting DCS down at the moment. Both in cockpit and on the ground they are ugly, shimmering and distracting.
