AC130 / C130 would both be a huge addition to gameplay, Transport is highly needed and an AC Version....wow, a lot of new missions!

Since ED made an AC-130U desktop trainer for the USAF a few years ago any cooperation would make a lot of sense.

I would welcome ANY heavy (helicopters too) but any variant of a C-130 would kick mission design wide open. It'd be pretty cool to see the stuff people come up with if that is the case. Fingers crossed! Additionally, regardless of the announcement, how long would it likely be before something would actually hit early access? End of year? 1-2 years?

Fully agree and also keeping fingers crossed for C-130. Developing one seems to have only onportunities without any drawbacks. It'll open DCS for wider public, a lot of current DCS community would welcome it with open hands plus it'll create new world of oportunities for mission designers. Actually not only. You may not be interested in even getting or flying one but still you'll benefit from it as the overall environment gets more interesting. Just to use the example of trainers in BF - not everyone has them, some actually dont want them but all benefit from having more complex environment to fly in.

That was my guess, see this thread a couple pages ago. He is in contact with an undisclosed 3rd party to do an AC-130H Spectre.

The 3rd party that comes to my mind immediately (KC-130T) is Razbam... ;)

 

If that is the case - holy cow

 

Spectre would be brutal - orbiting around stuff and just watch the light show :D

Well, only at night and with perfect CAP scaring away any determined interceptors.

An AC-130H is basically a sitting duck if not covered by darkness... But it is a cool and brutal weapons platform, nonetheless.
