Nearly 10Gb for me. But updating is slow as always. I have 100/20 connection at it downloads at 0,2-1mb most of the time. Frustrating.

 

Same mine is D/Ling at 400kbs for 11GB was hoping to drop some gbu's before work... nope... xmas will have come and gone at this rate!!!

After the recent update my communications do not work. I am able to get access to the communication menu and request for a bogy dope, but my pilot is saying nothing and nobody replies.

Anyone having where it wont start? It was downloaded all good went to lauch it and nothing it says running then closes again... (Steam)

 

Not on Steam. Game won't launch after update and doesn't show up in task manager.

For Rift users don't be in a hurry it looks rubbish in VR poor fuzzy image quality and a 12GB download to boot it seems you can't revert back to the previous version.

 

The Rift image is only kinda clear right in the center and fuzzy all around the rest of the image.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Mine is 42 Gb at torrent. Something is not right.

 

Edit : it automagically downloaded Nevada terrain without my permision which I've removed it due to lack of space in my SSD.

First it downloads 9.5gb and now it's downloading 15gb @ 460kb/s. Damn i hate this update system. Especially the very slow DL speed.

 

 

 

 

Function of your internet speed and location I imagine. Mine was 13GB. Took about 10 min if that. In fact, the unpacking is slower than the actual download. But I do have blazing fast Internet. And how busy the download servers were. I just downloaded it w/o any slowness.

 

 

PS: For reference, I have every module, Map and campaign except for the paid for MIGs.

FYI: Kegetys's shader mod doesn't work in v2.5.4 anymore. The sim doesn't start if this mod is enabled because the shaders in the mod are deprecated and it refuses to recompile them. So if your DCS doesn't launch and you're using this mod, remove it and try again. EDIT: there's a fix posted on the last page of the mod thread, try that as well.

FYI: Kegetys's shader mod doesn't work in v2.5.4 anymore. The sim doesn't start if this mod is enabled because the shaders in the mod are deprecated and it refuses to recompile them. So if your DCS doesn't launch and you're using this mod, remove it and try again. EDIT: there's a fix posted on the last page of the mod thread, try that as well.

 

 

The mod fix worked for me, can confirm... we'll await Kegetys's final assessment though.

Not on Steam. Game won't launch after update and doesn't show up in task manager.

 

Rename all your MOD folders and then it will launch. Had the same and found the MB339 one was cuasing the issue of not launching DCS. Just enable one at a time to find out which one is causing the issue.

 

On another note, got mine working but now my screen is 3/4 white with only a little bit of DCS showing at the top of the screen.

 

Using Vive Pro with Steam VR.

I'm thinking that ED shouldn't have released this version there are so many bugs and yes I get it that we're on open beta but really with all the broken DCS installs being reported ooks like we scored another bowl of dog food*.

 

Oh BTW I have attempted to roll bak but the updater will not proceed to load the 2.5.3 install instead reporting that I apparently have the latest version, which I kinda already new so until here is a fix we are stuck with it by the looks.

You sure it's not your mods causing this? Works 100% OK if I disable the A-4, the 339 and Kegetys's VR shader mod. So go plain vanilla and try again, worked for me at least.

That actually depends on the percentage of simmers having problems versus the ones who don't. I.e. your dog food is another man's entrecote.

No I have no mods installed I'm getting more CPU utilisation from 16% 2.5.3 to around 28% but Rift image is fuzzy compared to 2.5.3 it's okay in a small (I mean tiny) aperture in center of vision but peripheral vision is now very fuzzy and I use that peripheral vision a lot!

Maybe not I mean I'd be okay if we could get Rift back to how good it looked in 2.5.3 I have raised a ticket hopefully it's just a fix for the updater.

 

I'm suspecting that they have fiddled with the processing of the Rift image and not processing the peripheral section of the image and I really use that information a lot when flying.

 

I am however intruded by the increase in CPU usage from 16% in 2.5.3 to a huge 28% in 2.5.4 have a look with task manager there are now 2 cores doing a lot of work.

I don't run any mods and I have had a few problems with this update. Mustang textures missing, controls totally borked for the Mustang, even reversed some axis (after I tried a repair). I'm getting a flickering black screen every now and then and crackling sound. GBU's in CCRP mode not working though they do hit in CCIP but what's the point? Mav F's are working a little better though. Hope there is a hot fix!

hi guys, anyone noticed the newly introduced bold font text on the left side of the screen that would pop up whenever there are events like damages and destroys happens?

I think it is brought by the new OB update. any options to turn this down?

I've heard it can be turned off in miscellaneous settings. I don't think I'll turn it off though, because it helps me aim.

Heh, I like the font and the color of that text, but in the end I turned it off in options => Misc. => unticking the box "Realtime Bomb Damage Assistance". Apparently this option is not only for ground targets but also for air targets, so it is kind of a cheat when you get kill confirmations without having to check it yourself.
