Glide47
Ti video card...32gb mem...DCS only machine...VR on Reverb and Rift....ran great before update....after update of about half looks great....half problems. Most noticeable, F18 looks great and runs smooth....F16 looks ok, but cockpit stutters when you move your head.....I own quite a few modules....seems like this carries thru all of them......Half look great with no problems......other half look fine with huge framerate drops and stuttering......in each and every instance I created a mission with identical parameters and maps..... Thank You Because uninstalling the game is the logical response to that? Disable your antivirus or whitelist DCS. Problem solved. And "you've never had this happen before"? It's not at all uncommon for AV software to give a false positive. If the software you're attempting to run is a known "ok" thing, then you can disable it. @everybody else I have had the chance to mess around a bit with the F-5 on NTTR, and was watching F-18s on Caucasus (because I couldn't spawn in for some reason). For me at least, no framerate hit or significant issues thus far. Harker
Performance with SSLR drops significantly for me too. 30-35% higher GPU usage for the same scene, with no noticeable difference whatsoever. No difference at all. Has anyone seen any difference with SSLR on vs off? I took comparison screenshots, but nothing was different. EDIT: I actually noticed in a new screenshot, SSLR appears to give better shading for some scenes and betterment material reflections, but the differences are very subtle. The effect and performance impact is similar to a few games when RTX effects are toggled on and off, actually. Appears to be a global or at least scene-wide lighting calculation, but it makes no difference for the most part and no difference at all on things like canopy glass reflections. JumpinK
Yep. I'm getting a very noticeable loss in performance since the new update. My frame-rates have dropped in half. Sickening in VR Same here. :ermm: "Landing on the ship during the daytime is like sex, it's either good or it's great. dutch_bullet
I noticed my GPU is jumping from 0 to 100 all the time sinds the update, before the update it was more stable. Maybe someone else already mentioned it but could have something to do with the performance loss. Tango3B
Just did what Gripes323 suggested in his post because I simply could not believe this would work because I had abysmal performance with my old settings in 2.5.6 and going to the highest settings is a little strange in that case. Anyway, I deleted fxo and metashaders2 related to my previous settings and next time I started DCS I set all sliders to the right except for Gamma and chimney smoke as they are set to my personal preference. Then I set AntiIso to 16x and disabled MSAA & SSAA. Visibility is set to extreme and all other texture settings are high while cockpit MFD resolution is set at 512. My resolution is 1920x1080 and my PC is in the medium performance range. Well, the result was that this gave me a huge performance boost, indeed. DCS runs absolutely smooth in singleplayer mode and looks awesome. No stutters at all. I will test multiplayer mode this afternoon and see what I get there... Tango3B
Just tested the settings mentioned above online on the TTI server and I can confirm that it works extremely well, too. Again, this is just about game performance as many other things are severely bugged so do not take this as a praise for 2.5.6 in general.

Gryzor
In VR, playing single player (that's what I'll be doing for the next 2 months) I find performance acceptable. I still can't figure this graphics engine out:doh: Right after the update to 2.5.6 I cleaned the meta and FXO folders, put the vis on high, trees 80% and the first 2 flights were full of stutter (in Caucasus and PG). So... just for the heck of it I set the vis to Extreme, trees 100, PD to 2.0 (I only fly in VR), cleaned the meta/FXO again and no stutter! Go figure. Here's a short clip of low level flight over Dubai. All sliders to the right. No AA, Aniso x16: https://youtu.be/WRp2rSiz6mQ At 30 fps (I´m refer you video) in VR, flying is not exactly smooth, right? maybe due low fps stutter isn´t noticed
