ED Team Wags Posted November 2, 2007 ED Team Posted November 2, 2007 One of the big goals for DCS: Black Shark has been to improve the existing TFCSE-based engine to provide a better, more detailed low-altitude flying environment. Eagle has been hard at work on this and many of the results can be read about here, at the bottom of the page: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=950&scr=default&lang=en However, in parallel, some very talented individuals have been creating very impressive terrain content that will bring the TFCSE-based terrain to an even higher level. With this in mind, The “Sim-Mod” team is now an official “modder” group that will be working closely with Eagle on “DCS: Black Shark” and much of their work will be integrated into the release product. http://sim-mod.com/ This is not to say that the “Sim-Mod” modifications will not find their way into other TFCSE-based products like Flaming Cliffs. “Sim-Mod” has full freedom from Eagle to do so. Both Eagle and the “Sim-Mod” team are very excited about this pairing and we believe it will product an even better “DCS: Black Shark” final product. joey45 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Excellent News.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. rockwelder Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 We ( the SIM-MOD Artists) are very excited about this Initiative. Let it not be said that ED do not care about their fan base and community; I know first hand that they do. Thanks to ED and Matt "WAGS" Wagner . Their vision and dedication are about to bring us a new benchmark in the simulation world.
Wdigman Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Well it just gets better and better, those images are breathtaking. Looks like we get the best of all modders in one package. Thanks ED.

Colt40Five Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 What does this 'collaboration' mean for release of the sim-mod LO:FC mods? Has work on them been suspended in favor of DCS:BS? Will we have to wait for release of DCS:BS before the LO:FC versions are released? One other question...Does this 'collaboration' work both ways? IE the mod community gives ED some its work for DCS:BS...ED gives the mod community something in return? Like the new Georgia map area of DCS:BS for LO:FC? Or a more open mod architecture for previously unmoddable aspects of LO:FC? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zaelu Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Very good news!! What does this 'collaboration' mean for release of the sim-mod LO:FC mods? Has work on them been suspended in favor of DCS:BS? Will we have to wait for release of DCS:BS before the LO:FC versions are released? The first post I think clarifies it quite good. Colt40Five Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 The first post just says ED has no problem with sim-mod making LO:FC mods....which is a no-brainer as ED hasn't had a problem with anyone adding to the value of their sim with free mods.. what is unclear is how the use of the Sim-mod teams work in DCS:BS will effect it's release for LO:FC. And whether or not the LO:FC mod community will get any benefit of association with ED outside of the bragging rights for having their work included at no cost to ED. When ED announced that LO:FC was being dropped, the mod community became the only source for future development. If ED co-opts that development for DCS:BS it's another loss for LO:FC community...which has been greatly disappointed already. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

If ED co-opts that development for DCS:BS it's another loss for LO:FC community...which has been greatly disappointed already. Whoa! When did ED announce that FC was being dropped? Last I'd heard, the announcement was that Black Shark would be standalone but ED still wanted to do another patch for Flaming Cliffs . . . If that's disappointing, then I hate to think what you were expecting! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Yeniceri Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Every mod in work at the moment will be available for FC.. SIM-MOD is not gonna quit on modding the FC. Besides..There are lots of projects on the line. SIM-MOD origined or not.. I dont think anyone should worry about that.. (From what i read from the post) neither ED nor SIM-MOd is gonna leave the FC.. And as far as i remember, nobody said anything like that..No need to be that pessimistic :=) [sIGPIC]http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/41-imza-1.jpg[/sIGPIC] "To infinity...and beyond!.."
