so I just tested 3 scenarios with system resolution options-> VR settings using my standard track file performance track 273.trk

    FPS
1 System resolution unchecked 78
2 System resolution checked 80
3 System resolution unchecked but window maximised (ALT+ENTER) 82

it's a small difference , but, can anyone else verify?

Barely 1 ms for me

I got my fps back doing the above... ultimately had to settle for 70% SteamVR SS. But pit still readable.

Also using SOH DCS VR Shaders mod for 2.7.7.14727 (Clear Water) & Open FSR

Did you do the same with 2.7.6 to see if you wouldn't gain any extra also there?

Sooo, the result is a mixed bag obviously. While I lost 10% fps in the Syria-Benchmark, I gained(!) a considerable 7,5% in the Marianas. Still the Marianas are more demanding than Syr

I already had the feeling Marianas got some optimalisation because i used this map as first test after upgrading to 2.7.7.14727 and it ran smoother then on the previous build. So i then thought... nice upgrade, even more so because i ran it with a capped FPS. I removed the FPS cap after reading this topic only to notice that the other maps took quite a dive, compared to 2.7.6.

Oh yeah. If I ran 2.7.6 at 60/70% it was close to 10ms GPU frame time. But I usually ran 2.7.6 at 90/100% SVRSS at around 14-17ms GPU frametime.

A report has been made to the team with one example that shows 10 - 15% difference, please note this does not reproduce for everyone and there is still no clear reason for it.

The team will investigate.

I have a new (for me at least) finding.

I can reliable and repeatable gain and loose 10% fps between to different savegame folders.

The first one is the "regular" one, which I used since several OB updates. As usual I deleted the fxo and metashader-folders after an update.

The second one is the one that was created from scratch after renaming the old one to _backup and was used for all the testing. So far nothing new. Several of you already reported that recreating the savedgames folder gained them fps.

The interesting part for me is - after I carefully made sure, that every setting is completely identical between the two builds, I still get the 10% difference when switching between them (by renaming them).

But what, apart from the shaders and gfx settings, could have an influence on fps? The controls setups?

I'm confused....

Really interesting. I will try that later. When it "works" i will then copy one file after another, this shall then show it, as soon as performance changes.

Did that,  copied the config/input first - no change, config/view no change, then I copied the rest of the config folder and lost the frames again. Which makes me think, that the culprit lays in the options.lua. I compared the two different option.luas line by line, but the only differences I could find were in the vr section, such as msaa mask size and cursor confined to game window….

I screwed up since then, and changed some settings, I didn‘t keep track of, and now I can’t reproduce my original results anymore. For the moment, I‘m done with it.

now that its been more or less "verified"...It must also be said that the the % of performance loss is relevant to the system specs...its NOT just a 10-15 %..its much more. In these last so called updates I've gone from 50 fps in the cockpit to 30(jet) and 40 to 25 in helo's. That's more than 10-15%.

Relative how? Like worse for "high" end and less worse for lower end specs?

I seem to have gotten mine back to "normal".

At 90Hz: I had to dial back SVRSS to 60% from my previous 80-100% (I ran tree heavy maps at 80 and Nevada at 100) both at 4x MSAA with motion smoothing enable and maintain 45 fps/15-7 GPU frametimes.

I decided to try setting WMR to 60Hz, and while yes there is a slight flicker in the sky, I've gotten used to it. Hardly even notice it now.

I can run my usual "High" in game settings, SVRSS 80%, NO motion smoothing (and no stutter), solid 60fps 10-15ms GPU frametimes.

Very enjoyable flight experience, readable cockpits, ZERO stutter.

I am running 1.2 Open FSR at .77, 0 sharpen. Reshade mod and the following other mods.

Youve mde changes to reduce the impact of a performance drop. Thats not getting it back to normal. Its just compesating.

This is not the point of this tread  and your post is misleading. With heavy tweaking and modding the whole sim upside down and give impression that you fixed it.

I assume we have established that the issue hits lower end systems harder than high-end systems. Since the fps drop is not strictly proportional to the baseline fps my guess is, that there was introduced some „bottleneck“ kind of problem and how much fps you loose depends on how relevant this bottleneck is to your system.

Didn't at all say I "fixed" it. What I did is find a way for me to enjoy flying with no stutter and readable clarity. Something to do until there is an actual fix.

Sorry if I prefer to not add to the ED dogpiling.
