Apache Missions you'd like to see

So I am currently working on some missions for the upcoming apache that I can turn into a campaign. The theme I am currently working on is based in Georgia (since not everyone has every map). Russian is trying to bring Georgia back into the fold by using proxy nations in the Middle East to supply weapons, arms, and fighters to start an insurrection. Towards the middle or end of the campaign I may have Russia make a limited invasion to "quell" the rebel uprising. Some of the mission types I have planned are convoy attack, compound attack, convoy escort, medevac escort.

So my question is, what kind of missions would you, the eventual players, like to see?

TIC Mission or two would be cool, maybe. I personally love CSAR missions, downed pilot/medevac sorta thing. So that’ll be right up my alley. Anything that conveys a sense of teamwork, as hard as that can be to execute in DCS. I’m incredibly excited for the campaigns in the future. Best of luck!

The Sunday Supplement email from DCS had a write up of the Desert Storm AH-64 attack that took out the EW radar sites to start the air war.

I think Desert Storm would make a good campaign using the Persian Gulf or Syria map.

I realize that that the AH-64A's were used in that conflict.  the mast mounted millimeter wave radar dome can be optional, which gets closer to the A model.

To me it's just too historic of a mission to pass up making.

Well the Marianas map is free. You could set up an amphibious landing/invasion similar to that of Grenada with a twist of Apaches over Libya were British Apaches operated from a naval vessel. Limit fix wing to harriers, so you’re not having F-18 and F-14’s swamping the region. And slowly island hop through the region. The smaller islands can have militia like activity while the larger ones a well entrenched military with decent air defences.

It's also a dog performance wise. Sure they might optimize it a bit more eventually but right now it's a horror show to run in VR.

thats actually where I am taking a lot of inspiration from haha

That's a counter insurgency campaign. Billion dollars machines against guerrilla armed with infantry weapons. Not to put you down or anything, anybody can wish whatever they wish, but for me, that's very uninteresting.

On the other hand, conventional wars like Desert Storm, or perhaps even fictionalized conflicts like a what if boots on the ground intervention in Kosovo, using the Georgia map, or a modern what if Yom Kippur war, that'd be great.

I for one have had my fill of COIN in the Apache, and will be looking to live the T-72 popping Fulda gap dream I've trained for but never got to do.

"Oh look at this poor T-72... it would be a shame if anything happened to it"

"Wait, what is the smoke on the right?"

"OH SHIT THAT'S A TUNGUSKA!"

In Ronen Bergman's book "Rise up and Kill First," there are scenarios described where Israeli AH-64's would yeet a spicy stick at a car containing a hamas commander or other terrorist from a great distance away, in the middle of the night. These would be lots of fun with the OH-58D playing a role as well.  Tracking the car, helping the 64 get set up in a good location, and then lasing for the shot.

I'm also getting ready to release a very robust "Troops In Contact" mission that is hours of fun. You check in, patrol a defined area, and eventually some friendlies will call and need your help quite urgently. This will be a hoot in the AH-64. It damn sure is in the hind.

Perfect example of different strokes.  Having just re-read Apache again - I would love the chance to operate on call CAS - hunting for targets that dip in and out of cover.  No idea of where the target is.

Pre-planned, for me is where I have less interest.

Different strokes 🙂

I'm really looking forward to seeing what y'all Apache pilots get up to. This is what DCS is all about to get to simulate these scenarios that (thank God) never came to be. Apaches and A-10s fighting swarms of Soviet armor formations is way cooler than flying around for three hours then dropping a single jdam on a house filled with baddies.

Hell yeah…. Soooo many options. They’re adding more islands as it goes as well. Could make going island hopping and assault a greeeat opportunity. 🤔🤔

I plan on trying to spawn a heli off a ship and see if it'll work with the apache. Just haven't done it yet

Yep.  Marianas is not the perfect setting but probably as close as we will get for a while.
