@BIGNEWY This is good news, but the Varjo Aero issue where the headset is enumerated as being quad display is still present. Is this issue on the backlog for a fix as it breaks OXRTK but furthermore appears to render all 4 displays, even though it only shows two, causing a performance hit and there is still the issue with the misaligned cursor in cockpit.

I will ask the team again about this, I know they have been discussing it prior to this patch as it was an issue already

I was going to give this a go today but sounds like for Aero owners at least running in Open XR is currently broken. Glad I saw this probably saved some hair pulling lol.

  • OpenXR is removed from autosearch. DCS has a chain of VR vendors in priority oculus, OpenVR, Varjo, etc. OpenXR was in that chain in top priority, now it is removed from this chain and only available when you explicitly specify it in command line of DCS.

If you need to force openXR in DCS command parameter is --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR

motion reprojection crash is fixed.

thank you

Sorry for being dense, so for example I have a G2 what do I have to do to make it run native open xr??

I guess you need to input the command line into the properties of DCS shortcut you start DCS with.

--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR

You can make a shortcut for DCS and in the properties and target line of the shortcut you add

--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR

Screenshot 2023-01-27 123034.png

to the end of the line. Now when you use that shortcut to start DCS it will always force openXR and VR

@RealDCSpilot
Thanks for the info and help!

Are you saying that VD implements the actual OculusVR runtime, not only interfacing to the api? As I mentioned I have never installed any software from Oculus so that sounds correct...

Eager to get StreamVR working as well, but I don't know what is causing all the flickering on loading and the re-center problem. I will try reinstalling it again.

Do you think there is any downside to using Oculus runtime? To me it in some ways looks "cleaner" than SteamVR as I go directly to the VR hangar in DCS when I launch DCS. There is no SteamVR world (the mountains around you) or SteamVR desktop on top of the VD desktop... But maybe that doesn't matter performance wise...

How do you launch DCS? Doubleclick on the DCS icon in VD, right-click on VD streamer or start from SteamVR desktop...??

With VD, choose what's best for you. Using Oculus API or not. After the hotfix from today i simply launch the game with the command line options: --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR
I'm using SteamVR and performance ingame is really good on my end.

motion reprojection crash is fixed.

Reverb G2, using the new --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR command line options, i am getting crashes when motion reprojection is set to 'always on' in openxr tools. 'automatic' and 'disabled' seem to work.

So is it fixed? I use Always ON too (but I can test hotfix Today later).

Before Hotfix DCS hasnt CTD when Automatic or Disable was enable (so only Always on was a problem) but notice too that Automatic or Disable means OFF for OpenXR and DCS (what I noticed, no differences between disable and automatic in the pre-hotfix version and frames were not restricted). It doesnt work like in SteamVR for G2 or like for MSFS for example. So the priority was to fix Motion Reprojection (OpenXR) = Always on.

DCS now supports OpenXR natively

motion reprojection crash is fixed.

Not with my HP Reverb G2. Setting OpenXR Tools -> Motion Reprojection = Always On results in DCS OB freezing at the DCS Hangar Screen. Motion Reprojection = Automatic or Disabled results in DCS starting properly.
