This is better than a paid module in my book. It's maintained properly.

My only paid module is the Gazelle, which is probably the most comparable anyway. I have more (DCS) hours in the Whistling Chicken Leg than the Killer Egg, and more real-word affinity with it...

...but...

...I totally agree! Comparing quality, updates, tutorials, ancilliaries etc there is no contest. The Loach feels bang up to date and spot on, the Gaz just feels dated, and spot off. Literally the only thing in the latter's favour is multiplayer* and a campaign**. Neither of these will be a factor for long, I reckon 🙂

What a time to be a light chopper fan!

*See the widespread adoption of the A4 and the UH60 in many popular servers.

** Which I found bleddy awful, enjoying user campaigns far more - shoutout to @dggoofy!

Never heard it called that before 😄. Gazelle’s a load of fun just tearing about in MP and it’s quick too. Gets me in all kinds of trouble 🙂.

Speaking of good time! We are close to releasing our Dynamic Vietnam Mission.  Really been working on getting the FARPs looking more like the time period with the VAP pack.  Hope their are more Vietnam assets in the future.  We will add them for sure.  This NEVER gets old.  We are in trouble when the Little Bird gets released.  A lot of Afghanistan and Iraq content coming with it and the Blackhawk mod.

Don't worry it will take some time

I'm still learning how to fly this little bird. It's a completely different flight than the Mi-24 and Mi-8. Fast, agile madman. 😄 Every little success in piloting brings a lot of joy and satisfaction.

I'm still experimenting with the joystick settings.

Line 29 changes the position: base.init_pos       = {(-1*aspect + 1.5*size),(1 - 1.3*size)}

Toying with this now.  Does anyone know how to convert this to pixel coordinates?

MBY ...

I played with it 2 years ago, i use 2 Monitors, so, now is my main monitor on left.

base.init_pos = {x, Y}

base.init_pos        = {2.8, -0.7}     --  (F-18)  main moni on the right

Here is a quick update from last night.  Did a tour of our updated FARPs using the VAP pack assets.  Loving the feel of this now.  We will start adding smaller things like ammo cans and other smaller details pending no impact to performance.  Kandy just upped the immersion level this morning (have not had time to test it out yet) and added fog to the Jungle.  Hopefully it does not tear up performance too much.  Coincidentally the ED news letter spoke about new fog changes coming in the next update.  Fired up.

Really excited for this. I've been following your progress missions on YT.
I too use the Jug as an A-1 stand-in.

Thanks!

I've had a lot of fun in this little helicopter the last days. Mostly just trying to fly it into the tiniest spaces and see whether it fits:

I've not seen it done with coordinates but that doesn't mean it can't be. I did originally think that it would need fine tuning for different resolutions but then it's not written that way using coordinates so it adjusts using whatever resolution you are using, I tested it with 1080p and 1440p.

It's mainly trial and error, I took the default setting and altered one part to see what position that gave me on screen then judged off that. You can get it a bit more precise by going to more than two decimal points, handy if it's slightly off. I did it with one setting that 0.13 was too little, 0.14 was too much and after a bit of fiddling I got the display where I wanted with 0.133.

I know you can use larger numbers -/+ numbers to move it on to a second screen, be nice to export it and have it on a second monitor like you can with MFD but not looked that far yet.

I've successfully moved it to my second screen and shrunk it. I've also moved the grenade GUI, though I'm struggling a bit with the size.

Looking at @Mapi's  picture I'm beginning to make somewhat sense of this. 😊

I had problems with the Grenade GUI and making the text smaller as I wanted to make the box a lot smaller but never managed it so shrunk the box as much as possible around the existing text. Need to sit down and look at it properly instead of doing 5 minutes here and there :lol:

Whats going on with OH-6A wingmen?

I get crazy behavior. They don't fly in formation. AI wingman acknowledges formation commands, but does not do it. Just climbs to absurdlly high altitute and stays there. Command to engage enemy is answered with "UNABLE".

Out of curiosity for a video of the real thing someone posted days ago..

Its necesary to use right pedal during speed cruise? cause im not using any pedal at all for level straight flight above 80 knots

It depends on loadout and speed. The vertical stabilizer take a little load from the tailrotor with speed.

If you don't use the right amount of pedal you might be a little out of trim. Should not be a big issue.

Well, if the ball in centered you fly in aerodynamic trim. It tells you all you need to know. However there is very little penalty (apart from fuel efficiency and speed) for being a little out of trim or flying in a "nose-tail" trim.

@Eight Ball The floating pontoons with landing pads in the VAP have Riverine PBR boats docked beside them. Is it possible to have this boat as a separate unit that we can place as a regular ship?

Thanks!

Standalone PBR MkII boat is already available as a part of TeTeT's Vietnam War vessel pack.

Finally got DCS back up and running, straight into the OH6-A.

Woohoo! It's awesome, feels great, I'm all over the sky, perfect 🙂 Need to get those curves dialed back in!

Once you've perfected it, you can show it. I'm also still looking for the perfect one. 😉

I only use a slight curve on the cyclic (Warthog stick on a Virpil Mongoos T50CM3 base), around 8 or 9 IIRC, completely linear for the pedals but I have a damper and simply remove the spring from my Crosswinds whenever I fly helicopters.

Works great for me, I can precisely maneuver the OH-6A in even the tightest of spaces
