I have more than enough to do with learning the aircraft(s) already! 😅 So, I wholeheartedly second this wish. I don't think ED will drop the ball on this, though. Either way - wishlist is wishlist.

Though I keep my Hind and Blackshark in it's original language I don't mind EN labels at all, especially since I intend to mainly fly for Poles.

I'm pretty sure that the FC3 soviet aircrafts (Su-25A, Su-25T, Su-27, Su-33 and MiG-29) did not initially include an English cockpit.

I am sure they will provide EN translated pit and HUD. I am going to use the original even though I do not speak the language. I can't see anything bad with learning those few Cyrillic words or phrases.

Let me tell you guys something funny. I can read Cyrillic. Don't understand much of anything of course, but I can read the alphabet almost %100.

How did I learn?

Well how, of course with using Russian vehicles in DCS and other titles for many years! At first started understanding some letters, and eventually, very much suddenly, I was like "wait... I... can read Cyrillic now..." 😛

However, I must say, I don't really understand the necessity of having English cockpits in aircraft without complex MFD menus and such, like in Ka-50, which I still use in English. In everything else, it's pretty easy to tell what's an ADI, HSI, altimeter, speedo, VSI, G and AoA indicator etc, and for switches we already learn what's what from manuals and videos when starting, and they have English tooltips anyway. And as a bonus, you may slowly learn another alphabet as a side effect as did I 😛

Don't get me wrong, I hope people who want it will get it of course. I just personally don't get why is this that important.

I agree. I think it's just useful knowledge if you pick up bits and parts of other languages even if you'll never be able to properly understand or speak it.
The vocabulary you need to "read" an analogue cockpit is so minimal, that you can easily learn it while learning the proper operations. Digital cockpits are surely something different though.
I would appreciate if the manual could help a bit with understanding cyrillic russian. For example in the cockpit overview part, it could name the buttons not only in cyrillic, but also include romanizations of the word, translation (obviously) and pronounciation with international phonetic alphabet.

Which one is more realistic:

Scenario A:  A fighter pilot sits in a cockpit and reads the labels fine (since they're in English)

Scenario B: A fighter pilot sits in the cockpit and mutters "I can't read any of this <profanity>" (Because they're Cyrillic for _realism_)


People like to tout "realism", but it isn't the case that it always means making everything as obtuse as possible. After all, in real life many services used this super weapon to un-cyrillic their cockpit:

OK, there were some label plates or instrument replaced in turned-NATO MiGs but not all labels - that also makes them quite different and not fit the original MiG-29 modeling.

I think so too, I don't see how it would not, but for sure I don't mind original cockpit at all.

I usually start with English in the Russian, Cyrillic, cockpits. Then I switch. Not needed for French, Spanish nor Swedish. 😊
