No Sinai updates in February 2024 patch?

9 months without any update is unacceptable for any early access product. The way BN handles this situation, defending the party that hasn't delivered, just adds insult to injury. Booo!

OnRetech continue working on the next update, and remember 3rd parties has none control on the release. ED need aproval  by QA teams them before release on a patch, and ORT has no work on a little patch, has working on a big update.

Lmao.  This is both sides pointing the finger at one another saying, "it's THEIR fault.!!"  Bignewy pointed the finger at OnRetech and now it's ED's fault.  It honestly sounds like a project abandoned and still being sold.

I will be very surprised if we see any updates to this at all. I hate to say it but I honestly think ED should pull it from the market until the developer can show some more commitment to the project.

Take it easy. Be patient. I know this situation is annoying, but I'm sure they will do an excellent job. The map came out very raw and the update they are working on is very big. Everything at DCS is long-term.

I don't think I have come across any community with more patience. When players here are asking for things, it's usually long overdue and beyond what is normally expected in terms of EA product timelines.

If development is taking time beyond what is considered normal, a brief status update by the developer goes a long way. Obviously they are not obliged to keep us in the loop every step of the way, but it's the respectful and decent thing to. It will cut out unnecessary frustration and speculations instead of frustrated players venting in threads like this.

Anyways, that's how I see it 🙂

I get that, and as I mentioned in another post I wouldnt have an issue with this if it wasnt for the fact that they promised the first update Nov 2023 followed by another big update in end of 1Q24. there has been absolutely nothing mentioned of what the plan is and communication is sporadic at best.

I have patience, and a lot of it, but I also expect devs to be forthcoming about a product they have already received my money from.
It would take them 5 sec to post on their forum/facebook ect. Guys we have xyz problems, we are working with ED to resolve, as the old roadmap has come and gone we anticipate first update to be out xx and following feedback and additional fixes next update will follow xx after that. we appreciate your patience and know you want..... bla bla bla..

That Id respect. what they are  doing now is taking a mickey.

I understand your side. I also bought the map thinking that it would have highly detailed mountains along its entire length as they promised in the advertisement. That's not what came out and not to mention that the map came out extremely lifeless in Israel and the Gaza Strip. I hope and will wait patiently for everything to go correctly and for it to be a major update because if it isn't I will never buy anything else from OnReTech again.

Very cool the resolution of the mountains. This is the weakest point on any map. I became interested in the Sinai map.

I bought the map last year on the day it was published. By the way, that was on June 8, 2023. Sure, the map is usable, the lighting effects are great and there are no unusual crashes on my system. Still, there are a lot of bugs and a lot of things that leave a lot to be desired. So far, after almost a whole year, we haven't read a single line of text in any changelog. There is no updated roadmap and effectively zero communication from OnReTech. My patience is slowly running out. Rightly so. My patience will end promptly on June 8th, 24, one year after the release. Then we'll have to talk about some form of sanction/compensation from ED if OnReTech hasn't patched it by then. I'm starting to get some slight "VEAO vibes!" Some may still remember the Hawk...! A pretty dark chapter in DCS history. I hope we won't experience something like this again. Ultimately, such behavior from a 3rd party developer always reflects on ED, it is already quite borderline that this is still tolerated in this form...

Has Sinai been abandoned already, or are there any updates in the foreseeable future?

The missing Bullseye feature is getting to be a PITA and limiting mission-making.

Huh. I appreciate @BIGNEWY taking the initiative on this - and it does worry me a bit that apparently, even inside ED information on the status of Sinai is difficult to come by. I would have hoped that, after the greatly appreciated and inspiring roadmap that @OnReTech published a couple of moons ago, we would be close to an update (on April 3 or 4). Now, I can live with ORT not making that release date, but IMHO I think that they are unnecessarily burning goodwill with all their customers by not communicating where they are right now. Software is notoriously difficult to deliver, we all know that. So communication is important. ORT did a great job when they published their roadmap. I feel it'd be heartbreaking if a company that shone that brightly fumbles so badly when we know that they can do much better. Here's to hoping to either get an update soon (unlikely if ED don't know the status of Sinai - to be part of the upcoming update next week, it would have had to be inhouse for a couple of days already; this doesn't look promising to me), or some official update from ORT that they are still alive, well, and hard at work delivering on the great promise that the Sinai Map currently represents. We don't need much, and we love Sinai - all it takes is a sign of life to keep our fires burning.

A little bit over a month and that's enough for you to call them zero comms dead company?

They presented huge additions at the end of January 2024.

I can only agree on their updates' schedule - that's bad.

That was a small sign of life, I give you that. But apart from that? Really basically nothing. The roadmap has not been updated since July 2023 and the thing is that we have zero information on where OnReTech currently stands with their project. Not even ED seems to know about their current progress. Not even a single word by OnReTech on why they slipped their update at least two times, now. Yeah, that’s indeed what I basically call a comms dead company…really no need to play the white knight here. I mean, look at the comments here. Do you think all these folks make this stuff up? People start getting angry and frustrated…rightly so. At this point we really need a bit more than a few shiny pictures. A sign of good will would be i.e. to at least fix the dreaded bullseye bug. Not even that! Sure, you can do it by yourself but you really shouldn’t have to after nearly a whole year…

Honestly, I think most of us would just go away if they fixed the bullseye thing. As-is, the map is very unattractive for A/A missions, since all built-in AWACS calls would be nonsensical.

its a pretty basic bug id imagine and easily fixable. but I think most people would let up if they were just told what in the a.. is going on and when we can realistically expect the promised updates.

I will wait for something official from the ED team now, I trust @BIGNEWY will update the thread once communication has been received from the dev.

Exactly! Just a small sign of good will would do it for most of us, I believe...something that would show they actually care.

100%

The fact that this hasn't been fixed in nearly a year after release...very disheartening.

Indeed. What I find so discouraging is the fact that all it takes to fix this one issue would be for ORT to open the mission file inside the miz, look for the keyword 'bullseye', and replace the four lines there with

["bullseye"] = {
                ["y"] = 0,
                ["x"] = 0,
            }, -- end of ["bullseye"]

do it once each for red, neutral and blue. That's it! The fact that ORT decided not to make such a minuscule fix available for their customers casts a bit of a shadow on their customer relationship prowess. Let's hope that some time soon all this can be happily forgotten.

I admit to know nothing, but it almost seems to me like ORT is 1 person, they themselves did some art but probably contracted out most of it. This is why bugs as simple as this to fix, haven't been yet, regardless of "Priority" assigned by them in this forum.

They won't even acknowledge posts from the people who bought their product......pitiful.

Yes they do, constantly.

Latest example:

In January they said "Hi Dear friends and pilots. We are testing a new update and solving current optimization problems. As it turned out, doing more is quite problematic. But we can handle it."

We just need to do that - be patient and wait for them to handle it. No point in adding more assets to the scenery if they have problems optimizing, saying that from the perspective of 120 FPS simmer.
