Regarding the external model, it never bothered me, as in the quality of the mesh. It can look very well. See the attached screenshot by Bullet4MyEnemy

What was lacking was a high resolution texture template. The current one has unreadable servicing labels and symbols. Odd. On the other hand even in the current build I'd say the aft metallic section is a masterpiece with the origknal artist not falling for the common temptation of overdoing the metallic effect.

I hope the new template is going to be available during the first release week of the upgrade.

I dont think any new radios or systems are being added. The swiss f5 have new radios and an ins, i believe (may be wrong). Seems strange adding an antenna for a radio that's not fitted.

Yeah swiss f5e,s have new radios and a ins, and usn navy aggressors operated them after purchasing them via a buyback in the 2000s and redesginating to the F5N.

So documentation  on the INS and UHF SE-052 radios is available in NAVAIR 01-F5AAA-1 (2006) if they wanted to model them in the remaster. It is indeed strange to have a new antenna if there are no plans for avionics changes. 

 

It should be noted dcs f5e for all intents and purposes was almost a swiss f5e or usn f5n because it had the alr87 rwr and countermeasure system, but lacking  ins and different radios. The earlier  agressor f5e's  in the usn prior to the buybacks, or the ones operated by usaf for aggressor use didn't have rwr or countermeasures.

Well, what can I say. For 7000 man-hours invested (that is three people working full time for more than a year) - this is all but underwhelming.

New model, new textures and some bug fixes - it would have been reasonable to expect more. $10 is not a large price to pay anyway, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people will get it (myself included). 

But the again, either the 7K man-hours figure is completely off the charts, or someone needs to work somewhat more efficiently

One note on the Ascending promo video. The high energy LEX vortices are featured for the F-5E despite clearly being a work-in-progress subproject and I for one find it extremely positive! You guys should do it more often Especially that the Development Screenshots section on the main website can get a tad stale for months long stints.

@BIGNEWY would be cool, if we could get some more detailed info on the planned features before the (steam) autumn sale ends. i've got buddies who are mildly interested in getting the f-5 on sale and then upgrade, but i currently don't feel like recommending it, before we know more about the scope of the avionics rework. if the 7000 man hours are a realistic estimate, i would expect a bit more than just "fixes" and cosmetics, so some more info (potentially a trailer, or Wags video?) would be much appreciated.

I really can't believe it took 7,000 hours to improve an exterior model, cockpit and textures. There must be something else that hasn't been disclosed. I hope so!

Early WIP in their testing build, doesn't translate to "Its already in Sim", if ED said "Coming Soon" it would not likely be in the release build.

Is there any chance that the FC Tiger could eventually get the same air-to-ground functionality as the older FC planes? Currently we have to drop all underwing bombs simultaneously (something which isn't the case for the Mig-29, Su-27, Su-25 etc.)

I feel a bit disillusioned and less interested in the F-5 after the disappointment of having less features than other (earlier released) aircraft have.

You can work around the release by only selecting the pylon(s) you want to drop....even so, dropping in pairs keeps balance and helps with the inaccuracy of the aiming method.

Did I hint I consider it otherwise I meant that there was a decision to even show them in the promo video.

By the way, I hope ED doesn't touch the wingtip vortices. They are magnificent even now! Ma-gni-fi-cent I tell you!

Not all aircraft have the same features, nor do they all need the same upgrades. Look at the F-5's upgrade and decided if it, by itself, is worth it.

@BIGNEWY The steam autumn sale will probably only run until the 4th of December, so this weeks newsletter might be last chance to push out some more details on the scope of the F-5e avionics "rework" for those who might want to get the module on sale. Currently there is too much uncertainty on what will be included: Why has the new 3d model the dorsal antennas associated with upgraded models? Will Mavericks (and/or additional SRAAM rails) finally make it to the Tiger?

ED does not explicitly mention whether or not wings the ripping off too easily will be fixed.  I'll wait to see if this specific issue is addressed before paying as it is the most annoying thing.

Wing tips being to fragile will be addressed in the patch.
