MAESTR0 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) 1. What are the system requirements - We recommend 32 GB of system RAM and 8 GB of VRAM 2. How much disk space is required? - 205Gb (Phase 1 - 110 Gb) 3. How much does DCS: Cold War Germany cost? - $55.99 USD at early access release and then later $69.99 USD at final release with all three phases. 4. How will the map be sold, as a whole or in parts? - The Cold War map will be released in phases, with each phase adding more terrain, airfields, cities and other features. Three phases in total are planned. The map will only be sold as the entire map. 5. What are the dimensions of the map? - 980 x 800 km 6. Will assets be released and when? - We have received many such requests. Ugra-Media will do everything possible to release a Cold War Germany assets pack with objects and equipment following the release of Phase 3. 7. Why are there static objects on the map if I can place them myself? - We were guided by the interests of the users. First, we did it for the sake of performance and FPS, and this is the best solution. You immediately get a polished product that allows you to fly without additional work in the Mission Editor. The world is already filled with life and details, but at the same time, free spaces are left open for your creativity; you can add your own objects without interfering with the rest of the map. 8. When will the seasons be released? - Autumn and Spring will be released with Phase 2. and Winter will come with Phase 3 9. Will there be destructible buildings? - Yes, most buildings have destruction models. Traditionally, this does not apply to original objects. 10. Will there be RSBN beacons on the maps? - Yes, East German airbases are already equipped with RSBN beacons. 11. Will you make SAM sites? - 40 SAM sites have been placed on the map, and some air bases include prepared SAM sites. 12. What airfields will be on the map? Beirut Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Sweet! Can't wait. 205GB. That's a lot of map goodness. 3 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Bremspropeller Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Looks like there are no french airfields in Phase 3, which would be a bit of a downer. 3 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
Mr_sukebe Posted April 15 Posted April 15 9 minutes ago, Bremspropeller said: Looks like there are no french airfields in Phase 3, which would be a bit of a downer. Yeah, that is a bit weird. Several in Belgium though. I'd love to see some French airfields. One option would be temporary field FARPS on a good sized road. That would work with at least the Harrier, Viggen and maybe F1 5 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
waterman Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Just a constructive thought - 205 GB Size - The time has come when these huge Map Downloads should be available to purchase mail order on USB Stick or a SSD . Im sure a bulk buy price for ssd or usb sticks from a manufacturer could be sorted out for this alternative sales method. Im sure a lot of users would welcome the option to hook up the mail order drive and install Maps from there. Users with very slow internet will be very reluctant to commit to these huge downloads. Just an idea. 3
MiGCap1 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) All the Northern Germany/Schleswig-Holstein air bases are missing (Husum and Leck for the German Air Force, Eggebek and Jagel for the German Navy, Hohn as German Air Force transporter base), that's not good. In 1980's Cold War reality this part of Germany (north of the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal between the Baltic and the North Sea) played an important strategic role as "Unsinkable aircraft carrier" not so easy reached by WarPac ground troops. And the flying assets for the Baltic warfare are stationed in this part. They should be in Phase 3 in any case. Please re-think. Hallsy Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I agree that no French bases is a loss. That being said this IS the map we have all been waiting for. I have been calling for Germany for years and years. Everything looks amazing Ugra. I am again, looking forward to buying another one of your products! 2
SlipHavoc Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I love how they're putting in 120 airbases, plus dozens of smaller fields and helicopter bases, and like half the comments about it are "not enough airbases, you should have put in my favorite ones, unplayable, will not buy". 9

Edit: Typo Stefan, in the 80s EVERY German based played a vital and strategical role, not only the "unsinkable carrier" as to witch the northern guys refer to. To be more precise: Focusing on the Fulda Gap scenario (what the CW map is currently concentrating on) the northern airfields played a minor role than the ones on the southern part. Relax and wait what what later expansions will bring up regarding WP entering through the northern plains. Of course: as an ex Army Aviator (having served with Rgt20 and Rgt6), I'd wish to have both airfields present. But that's just the way it is. Be patient. BUT: There is some Baltic water in the northeastern part of the map, a little bit in stage 1 (basically the coast line) and much more in 2 and 3. And to play this part of the map the bases on the "unsinkable carrier" shouldn't be left out. And @Volator also is right: Without at least Wittmund AB, the home base of the famous "Richthofen" wing, the map isn't complete. Don't get me wrong: Thank You, @MAESTR0, this map is a burner and I will buy and play it from day 1 on, reliving my flying in the 1980s but now in the front seat and not in the back (and sometimes on the red side, too). But as a dedicated "Northern light" I have to make this comments. And I know that Ugra do not stop the development after release but working constantly on improvements. I enjoy this attitude on the Normandy 2.0 map, the best map in DCS in my opinion. OhNoMyHookBroke Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Can we expect the VRAM requirements to drop over time? It's very concerning, as it seems like I won't be able to run this map without some troubles.
Rick Mave Posted April 16 Posted April 16 @MAESTR0 Dude Wittmund has to be in Phase 3 at least... Any chance that planned Phase 3 content is still being adjusted? 1 1

Where can I see the progress of development? Here is our topic where we post information about the map, screenshots and videos: Probably a bit disappointed here to not see any appearance of vital airbases within the northern part of Germany which played a vital role during Cold war such as Schleswig, Schwesing, Eggebek, Hohn, Hungriger Wolf, Kiel etc. No idea who came up with the list of phase 2 and 3 airports but it seems like Schleswig-Holstein is completely missing out on military airbases while other parts of Germany get bases included which did not play a vital role at all. Especially for maritime warfare in the Baltic sea this could've been a very big opportunity to include bases which did exactly that. There's at least a dozen airfields missing up here. ouky1991 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I was guessing something like 100gigs, but over 200? Thats one huge map. We really need some improvements to the updater, so it's capable just adding the new parts of the map and not re-downloading the whole thing each time new stuff is added. I cant imagine downloading over 200 gigs everytime they add 10 airfileds 3
ExoLight Posted April 16 Posted April 16 The map looks awesome, thak you for your hard work! With that said, a lot of French friends and I are sad not to see a single French airbase in phase 3... Simply Colmar or Nancy would be awesome and unlock a great deal of Cold War scenarios from our end.
