Another reason some of us stay on Steam. The download is chugging away at full speed.

Indeed. I use steam for two reasons.

1. The stable fast download speed

2. I like to see just how much of my live I've devoted to DCS(around 1800 hours so far)

If you have a download issue due to server capacity, just try again a little later, any download already done will still be there, when you start the download again it will check what you already have and continue.

Obviously lots of people are trying to download all at once.

thank you

Hmmm that wasn't my experience. It did not register what had already been downloaded and unpacked. It started from scratch again (and crashed again). Too many MiG-29 lovers out there 🙂

The Updater crashed twice for me, but now it's back up to my normal speeds. ED did well improving their patcher these past few years.

Err. maybe I was mistaken here. Don't remember the numbers, but it DOES look like it is starting from a later point. Slow download made the time look the same as it did originally.  As an aside, I tried to EDIT my original message, but all of a sudden I do not seem to be able to edit any forum posts. I get a red "Required" at the top, but no indication of WHAT is required.

finished right now just finde. Also the speed went higher again.

But something else. Anyone recognize the Aircraft, Wags is shooting at in the latest video? Just asking... Hun? Draken?

Aside from the release of the wonderful MiG-29A and the fixes and additions to the Core, I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements to the Caucasus map. I can't wait to try it again, since I started there with the Ka-50, Mi-8, MiG-21, MiG-15, and Yak-52. Thank you so much!

No. Now we got SA updates, and next time it's Kola.
We didn't get any Syria updates, but some small updates in Germany, because the have been busy with Normandy.
This will always go in cycles with small teams.

Must have been a Google translate error. I think you meant to say:

"Let me fly the C-130 for at least a month ...then the Mig-29."

Nope. Bypass the MiG. Bring on the Work horse 😋

Very nice patch. It's not mentioned in the patch notes, but it appears that the Chinook blank CDU pages bug has been fixed. Thank you. Are there any other additions?

Talking about appreciation. Happily surprised about the TLC given to the Caucasus map in this latest update! Hope there is more to come with new technology coming online as part of the new maps under development. With so many content available (campaigns and user files) this remains an important map that deserves to remain up to date.

You're killing me...

Edit: I missed a few updates, I'm trying the "dcs_updater update versionnumber@openbeta" thing with one updater after the other rn and so far on the first step, it seems to work. Still using the @openbeta tag since I was on that branch before they got merged and my file structure still represents it.

MiG-29 is great! Well, first day in early access, but I already love it!

It´s incredible to see how much DCS has grown in the last years with all the modules, maps and all the improvements... always pushing for excellence!

Would love to see the Huey once getting a revamp and some fine tuned flight model too.

That's a crazy big patch with a lot of improvements, fixes and of course the new MiG. Thank you!

Although I find it interesting that the MiG was released with such an amount of existing issues instead of waiting another one or two weeks. Not that I'm complaining, but still interesting.

Sometimes release windows are small, we wanted to get the Mig-29A out in September as we had planned to, and also give an opportunity for steam users to get the pre-order discount which we did.

We have listed the known issues to keep everyone informed, and also noted we have some more patches coming very soon with more additions and tweaks.

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so far, which is great to hear, overall it has been a great early access launch for us today and I do hope you enjoy your flights.

best regards

Cockpit MFD resolution was set to 512.
I thought ed had reduced quality to match the sniper pod.  😛
Luckily not. The update changed value to 512 in settings.

Why? Updates are not incremental, so the latest update won't be smaller. Try to downgrade, then uninstall a few maps, then update, then install map by map.

Cheers!

  • Mk-20/CBU-99. Improved bombsight accuracy. Please note that using FMU-140 in low-altitude horizontal flight bombing runs will lead to poor accuracy - in these cases Mk 339 fuze must be used. FMU-140 should provide acceptable accuracy in dive bombing runs and, in specific conditions, in horizontal flight bombing runs (function altitude set to ca. 1/3 of release altitude and specific airspeed at release, e.g. function altitude - 3 kft, release altitude - 10 kft, TAS - 580 kts)
  • Mk-20/CBU-99. Fixed Mk 339 fuze function delay being counted down after arming instead of after release

Thanks ED for this.

I am a cluster bomb fanatic. I've been testing and retesting cluster bombs in DCS, for their effects, best release and function parameters and so on.

Regarding the Mk-20s and CBU-99s, my tests always showed that both bombs always worked very well with the Mk 339 fuzes. Always very effective. And, if you use the right time of function, you can get pretty good results. And if the default settings were used, the bombs were always very effective at 1,000 feet AGL in level flight.

But, if using the FMU-140, the bombs were always ineffective. It didn't matter the profile. Thank you for addressing the issue and telling us how to properly set and use them in game.

Thanks for the patch, plenty of great map updates which i'm looking forward too trying this weekend and the update to the Apache which is welcome.

No fixes for the black screen CDU on the CH-47 is again disappointing to see and re affirms why I didn't buy the Mig29 in EA, but good luck ED with its EA release and happy a full fidelity Redfor plane is in the game now.

Huge update.  For grins (while this downloads on my 110 baud acoustic modem in the fancy oak box) I looked at my DCS directory.

1.5TB

Is that right?  Maybe I need to do a little fall cleaning?  Has it really gotten that big?  Not a problem, just a lot of D to S C.

Check 1:49.... the more awaited legs? finaly?

Is this for all modules or just the Mig29 ??

Ignore I see it said experimental when that walk to the cockpit happened so its more than likely not in this patch unless some one can confirm it is

You can reduce the space required for the update if you uninstall the maps that got updated -> update the sim -> install the maps again after.
