OOOPS Sorry, just my jaw that felt off... :)

Excellent job ED. Very pleased to see those pictures. Thank you Wags

Now I figure out if/how we could roll&dot on the strip...

Now, let's get us REX style clouds and the World will be perfect...

Given that its a new rendering system, Im sure its performance will be much better. For those of you that have not watched the videos for the WWII kickstarter, You might be interested to know this is version 4 of Edge coming to PC. The other 3 were developed for civilian helicopter simulators.

"DCS WWII: Europe 1944 will be the first product in the DCS line to use the EDGE terrain engine. Built to the latest bleeding-edge technology standards, EDGE is already used in several commercial pilot training simulators. It is now coming to PC. Featuring extremely detailed graphics and fine-tuned for realistic feeling of flight at low altitude, EDGE is now being transformed for WWII battlefields. We are showing some early tests with bunkers, trenches, and cliff faces." video is located here :

That vid will show you a lot of information and the people behind bringing you this new system. Keep in mind that the images in the video are not necessarily from the game!!!! They are from the editor.

If it doesn't run smooth on the first install, I'll not cry.

It's a new rendering engine with full potential and maybe calibrated for the GPU's that will be sold in 2-3 years to take the full advantages. So I'll maybe have to set all to 'medium' until the next generation of GPU...

Yes, in game, it might be even better...

I doubt if anyone from ED will anwser me but will there be a option to preorder the map for those of us who did not participate in the beta?
I'm not really sure what the advantage (from a consumer point of view) of preordering would be. Just put $20-$40 in a safe place and pretend you preordered it. I am guessing that, like all other ED modules, you will be able to download and install (but not activate) the map without owning it, so you can do the online transaction while you are waiting for your download to complete. You don't really get the map sooner either way unless they decide to do a pre-order exclusive beta test, but then it's kind of like just regular ordering.

Having a preorder available might be beneficial to ED though, because then it guarantees people won't have changed their minds or found something else to spend the money on by the time it is released. (Or if they did change their minds, they are still stuck owning it.)

The picures look very pretty, but also very resource intensive. Even though having Nevada as a terrain is nice (because of the Red Flag is nice), I think that for a war simulation that is not a good area. What we need is diverse landscapes with multiple airbases so that we can create "realistic" and balanced scenarios. So even random terrain would be OK.

This is Digital COMBAT simulator, sightseeing Vegas is more like R&R :)

EDGE - need some technical specs

Hi ED team,

I think that it will be quite interesting to have some technical specs about EDGE engine, so that we will be able to prepare our rigs acordingly. My direct concerns are related to:

- how many CPU cores will be used ?

- are the multi GPU operations suported for both SLI and Crossfire ? Were these solutions tested and the results addresed to Nvidia/AMD?

- which is the recomended ammount of ram so that not make any disk usage during missions.

Your are starting to become stronger with this new products and I am quite sure that hardware vendors (Nvidia,AMD...) will start listening for your requests when needed.

Back when Nevada was announced, I thought I would be flying my shark around Vegas, but now I get to fly in the Huey with official civilian skins. That is just about perfect.
I so regret deleting the early A10 beta versions that had a rough version of Nevada included.. I'd never have done that if i could of predicted the future of Nevada.
I actually bought the A-10 more for Nevada than the A-10. I was never much of a Hog fan (needless to say that changed a bit because ED is awesome) Edited by VincentLaw
