cichlidfan Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 1080p rift is here... this will be very usable with DCS! I hope ED is paying attention.... Even without that news coming so soon, it is becoming quite apparent that by the time the Rift hits the shelf in Best Buy it is going to be a very viable gaming display. zaelu Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Outerra has now full Oculus Rift support. Also, have you seen this? MYO oWu9TFJjHaM great things are comming :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
npole Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I've imagined DCS but with Outerra (whole world) scenery... I could sit there and fly for a week without sleeping or eating before passing out...
Mnemonic Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) From official press release "The prototype’s 1080p display increases the number of visible pixels by more than 2x, greatly reducing the screen-door effect seen in the development kit." Greatly-reducing is not elliminating, I wouldn't hold my breath. But nevertheless I'm looking forward! :) They are not sure they will give 1080p for developers, but if they do I will be in the line. P.S. Image is better, but not that drastically different I've imagined DCS but with Outerra (whole world) scenery... I could sit there and fly for a week without sleeping or eating before passing out... With current devkit I doubt, you will be tired very soon, and would like to take it off much earlier Edited June 12, 2013 by Mnemonic

JetlinerX Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I feel like this is going to be one heck of a sham. I dunno... just kinda feel like something is off with this, I think it might be over hyped and people will be disappointed. I would love to be wrong tho. Take a look at our in-depth DCS A10C tutorials If you want to participate in these tutorial sessions, please send me a PM and I can get you setup! :) TUTORIALS TO RETURN "VERY SOON"

Everyone who tries one is absolutely blown away by the thing, even the hardest of skeptics.
npole Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Everyone who tries one is absolutely blown away by the thing, even the hardest of skeptics. Not only this.. but any big (last one was Sony with the PS4) is looking at it.. in other words the device is already "marked" as a mass-sale piece of hardware before it even hits the stores. While on this forum we're still thinking if support it or not.. and we didn't received any official reply so far. What a shame.
bilbosmeggins Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I understand that ED hasn't really made any Oculus plans yet. But does anyone know of any other flight sim companies that have made a pledge to support it? I just have to get my hands on one, but don't want to be stuck in a FPS for all eternity.
Flim Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 War thunder is supporting it so far... Btw, it does look like Sony PS4 will support it in the future... crazy stuff
bilbosmeggins Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Wow!! Thanks for that. I'll have a browse around. It wasn't really a title I was too bothered about but it would be awesome with the 'Rift.
Cowboy10uk Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Really impressed as I wasn't expecting a 1080p version at E3. Sounds like its made a huge difference and the not so suttle hint that Sony will be supporting it for the PS4 is Amazing. I truely believe we might just see a good VR headset in my lifetime. I just hope and pray that Ed are taking note, and will also support it. The rift is built with A sim like DCS in mind. It would be perfect for it. There's only one real major issue. Which is how painful the wait is gonna be for the consumer version. Cowboy10uk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
bilbosmeggins Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 (edited) ................There's only one real major issue.................... And the small matter of not being able to see the keyboard/joystick setup. Kinda crucial with something as complex as a DCS title. Great for RoF though :) Edited June 14, 2013 by bilbosmeggins

cichlidfan Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Make that 2 - propensity for sea-sickness after 5 minutes if Wingman's (star citizen) experience is anything to go by :megalol: That is an individual thing. I have not noticed any motion sickness with even fast movement. It can be disorienting but not enough to cause nausea in my case. Great for RoF though :) I don't remember the last time I've touched my keyboard or have been forced to look at something else than my screen/cockpit. There might problem with semi-arcade aircrafts like those in FC3, but with the A10C, a full clickable cockpit and the hotas, it's all you need.

I dunno... just kinda feel like something is off with this, I think it might be over hyped and people will be disappointed. I would love to be wrong tho. Yep you're wrong. I have tried it for 15 min tonight (just received my kit) and I'm stunned (and motion sick as shit :megalol:). The resolution is already enough for a proper experience in DCS IMO. I was quite surprise with the image knowing the crappy resolution.
