If anyone ever again accuses Matt & ED not going the extra mile to promote and/or suppressing information will never be satisfied. I'm simply speculating here, but I believe that a lot of the silence early on was due to uncertainty of milestones with the "core" of DCSW. Seems like there are some breakthroughs since we are going to get a little taste of EDGE. I can hardly wait to be enlightened!!

Thanks Matt & ED staff!! This is really good news of what we can expect to see in the future.:thumbup:

Thanks for the update Wags!

It's not fun to wait, but I'd much rather wait and play a good game that's (more) bug free than play it sooner and have a bad experience and be put off because of said bugs.

I believe that this community has matured enough to accept unavoidable delays and changes.

Are you sure? I want to believe to.:D

Thanks for the update Matt!

Thanks Matt, your transparency on these forums is so very appreciated, I log in and check so often and i feel there are many people like me who literally hang on your every word.

Weekly updates/news is a move i am really looking forward to.

For what it's worth, having a leading public voice is one of the most brilliant defining parts of ED and having it at the head of this amazing community is like a voice in the dark sometimes in this industry.

Didn't mean that to be gushy, but i had to encourage your positive move.

Mike

Thankyou for the update Wags, however don't worry to much about this bug is it means getting the patch out earlier. (like flares that had no effect on IR-guided missiles)

Huey has no flares anyway ;)

I think you may be surprised. Just need different tactics that's all. There's no way you can call medevac a low risk missions.

Team up with Gunships and you will be amazed where you can get into.

A great new information policy, I hope we, the community, will prove our maturity, even if we may be confronted with the harsh truths of game-development from time to time.

I look forward to getting a better insight into what's going on in Moscow!

Okay, just to sum it up:

1. Huey and 1.2.4 is hopefully not that far away.

2. From now on, we will get weekly updates not only about next version progress, but also about EDGE, Nevada, and even about other future maps that are already in work or planned. :clap_2::holiday:

(Please, be it something with lots of forests and mountains and cities and rivers.)

So many great news in just one day. Thank you Wags. Thanks a lot.

On the bright side it sounds like (from another thread) they're redoing the cbu effect from the ground up (87-103 anyway... not sure about 97s but not all complain about 97/105) so though it may take a bit longer at least it'll actually be fixed.

Nobody can help the fact that you have a slower computer so I hope you maintain realistic expectations.

Good news on regular updates and on giving mp issues some priority.

All I did was simply expressing my thoughts about a very well known bug that it has been around for quite a while and it affects MANY people. You made me sound like I was complaining and (worst) blaming ED for me not being able to purchase a lightning fast super PC. Please don't put words in my mouth. Me mentioning not having a very fast PC was just to point out that this bug affects systems that are well within the official system requirements as advertised by ED. So it's not our fault. All I said was that we shouldn't have to go and buy new PCs for something that is clearly a software bug. I think that these kind of bugs should be in higher priority than, say, graphic eye candies.

My realistic expectations are that software bugs should be fixed by the company that produces the software product (and kudos to ED who has already acknowledged this problem and announced that they are working on it). If this is considered unrealistic, then I apologize.

P.S. Suggestion/question to ED. Since from what I understand this problem was introduced with the new graphics (like smoke etc) and/or code for some explosions, until you find a way to remedy the problem, would it be possible to give an option for the user to choose whether he/she wants to use the newer graphics or the old ones that will give them better frame rates?

In Vietnam for example, I don't think there were many low risk missions anyway. My friend who flew Huey's there once saved a Thud crew that ejected. After the rescue, the Thud crew decided they wanted to go along on a combat mission in the Huey, and the pilot, who I think was a full bird, and got his way. So, he got to sit up front and his back-seater ended up on a door gun.

My friend had to yell at the back-seater because he backed off firing the gun when the vegetation and the gun barrel met. They were under fire at this point and it was important to be firing back. After the mission, the two Thud guys were adamant about how crazy helicopter flying was and that they wouldn't do that by choice again.

My friend always went with some extra flak vests stuffed around his seat, and he always sat down as low as possible when there was a chance of taking fire, which was a regular occurrence.
