To fly the Huey means to miss the Shark.

This thing is a complete different story when it comes to manual flying a helicopter.

But the good news is, if you can balance an egg on your index finger you can fly it without any problem. :joystick:

Regards and have fun.

Damn. After many years of flying various sims I thought I am ready for Huey. Man I was wrong. It dances around, I am starting to suspect my joystick needs to get replacement. Moving it by few mm looks like a few cm in the game (looking at ingame cyclic visual movement, and helicopters behaviour).

I've flown a few rounds this evening with our small DCS group, incredibly fun, hard to hover and sooo rewarding once you get the hang of it (I'm not saying I can hover, just that I managed it for a few seconds before I started oscillating). Also, those guns are damn sweet!

I know what I'm going to do when I get home tomorrow!

WoW

Is all I can say, great to fly, difficult at low speed a great challenge.

And the level of detail is awesome, I noticed after a hard landing panels flapping in the wind, plexi glass smashed all that was missing was the smell of crap every time I crashed.

Thanks for the opportunity to fly the beta, hours of flying ahead :)

Damn she's hard, the BS, I was hovering no problem, this honey........ Well lets just say its intresting, but I'm glad I'm not a passenger. ;)

The aircraft is SO sensitive, I just have a little twitch and she's shooting across the ground.

The force trim, I have no idea how it works. I press trim button and expected the cyclic to stay there, but it dosnt seem to do much. Guessing I should read the manual again.

I can see lots of frustration ahead, and a hell of a lot of fun. Practice practice practice.

Love her. Thanks Belsimtek. I'm really gonna get a lot of fun and satisfaction at taming the wild beast.

First flight, well I did walk away from it, but you need to remove the skids from the cealing after I embedded them there after autorotating as I blew the engine.

Sounds like a helluva module! I'm gonna go ahead and assume that w/out pedals I might as well just throw in the towel?

Yeah, you definitely need pedals for this beauty.

What a gorgeous and wonderful sim. Excellent work Belsimtek. Had her fired up this morning and took her for a few laps. I didn't actually crash crash, however if I was to be employed in a Huey squadron I'm pretty sure I would go through a hell of a lot of Helo skids. Those things rip off very easy hahahaha

Interesting impressions! My cousin is an Army helo pilot and he started in Oh-58s and Hueys. He always called it mild mannered and docile.

Suggest we don't let first impressions go too far in our conclusions about the FM. I mean it's fun to share of course, but I think most players, including real pilots, need at least a few hours of practice and adjustment before they get a good feel for the controls and responsiveness. Chances are the first time you fly any helicopter without stability augmentation, you're not going to do too well trying to hover. That isn't to say that the FM is flawless. We know that it isn't and have said previously that it will continue to be tuned even after open beta release. The point is that an informed discussion about the FM can only happen after you are fully adjusted to it and can perform reasonably accurate testing with precise, repeatable inputs.

Having said that, please, share!
