cichlidfan Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 ORBX Releases FTX Global!! Received this in email yesterday. This looks excellent. The WHOLE world the way Orbx imagined it! Welcome to your new simulator. No product in the history of FSX or P3D produces such an instant, radical and complete makeover like FTX Global does. Simply put, it transforms the washed out bland textures of the default palette into the vibrant rich and appealing Orbx FTX landscape - all with a simple installer. But the Orbx team did not stop with just new textures. Dormant classes and meshing tiles not used by default FSX have been unlocked so now unique types of terrain blend perfectly against each other the way they should. Then there is a new zero-FPS -loss night lighting system for the entire planet, including lighting of all major arterial roads in and out of cities. Finally, a new "hybrid" mode is introduced for FTX Central that now allows the classic Orbx FTX Regions to remain "active" with FTX Global so you can do tran-ocean or continent flights without ever needing to see default terrain ever again. Upgrade your sim TODAY! - Total upgrade of your FSX or P3D! - Many new gorgeous ground textures - New autogen textures for buildings - 3D night lighting with zero FPS impact - Base landclass updated to enhance Asia etc. - Unlocks dormant M-tiles for perfect blending - Works with all 3rd party landclass products - Works with all 3rd party mesh products - Free service packs and patches from Orbx - Same sized textures as default - "Hybrid" mode for FTX Central regions - Expandable with Orbx openLC packs! MAX123 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 FSX- F 15E release next week? https://www.facebook.com/Metal2Mesh.Development?group_id=0#!/Metal2Mesh.Development?group_id=0 That is some pretty code. The Radar has a lot of function and very very close to actual real F-15E. We are hoping to release next week. Hey Everyone, AU Release update: Steady finalizing the code, our programmer is working his ass off and a lot details are being finished. This is always the most stressful part of a project and as the finish line comes into view it's important to make sure it's right. ... I am still writing the manual, a lot of information is going to be in there. Organizing and setting it up is an agonizing process that I am actually having a little bit of fun doing. I tried to make this manual very clear and easy to navigate, to find the information at quick glance. You all know we never read the manual, so I am also making sure we can search through it fast. Another thing I want to talk about is areas such as the Radar modes and other specific information is all in there so you can reference it and not get lost or it's missing like the Iris manual fell short in those areas. Here is a small screenshot of some of the AG Radar modes section of the manual. Now the text is subject to change but it's almost final for this area. Please tell me what you think. https://www.facebook.com/Metal2Mesh.Development?group_id=0#!/Metal2Mesh.Development?group_id=0 DCS : F-15E Request Information? .

WildBillKelsoe Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Only one question, when in DCS? I second that question AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
phant Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Only one question, when in DCS? [...] The DCS version will happen, it is just a little more complex then the FSX version and will need more time, especially since it is going to be a DCS module with high fidelity and AFM like the A-10C. [Knight] Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Waste of time and Money and skill .....HMM to bad FSX don't have COMBAT simulated it their GAME. Oh well we will just keep waiting as usual. Maybe I'll play the next two COD games before flying the F-15E. . http://104thphoenix.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/104th_Knight https://www.twitch.tv/104th_knight 104th_Knight
SkateZilla Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 i re-fuse to get re-invested in FSX, i spent Hundreds to just make it look pretty. then after a while, sold it all off in one package for $50 to someone. I tried the VRS SB with TacPack, and it was actually pretty good. But i refuse to invest in a dead base code that didnt run to well to begin with. I would like to see the opposite happen. Instead of fighter planes going to fsx I want civilian aircrafts coming to dcs. Grigs Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I am simply wondering if such a model as teased here does not encounter more success in the FSX community. I have flown FSX but not much. I am simply conviced that there is still a huge community behind, especially since MS Flight was not really designed for the simulators lovers. Give them such a F-15E and you might earn some good money. By the way, are there official statistics from ED on products sold?

SkateZilla Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 FSX Still has a HUGE FOLLOWING, add in Prepar3d, and it's larger. Like i said though, I like combat, and not Just Point to Point/Formation Flying. I invested nearly $500 on Scenery and Aircraft alone when I played FSX, and when it came time to rid myself of a money drain, I sold it all off for $50. Raven68 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 As far as the combat aircraft, does FSX have a strong following? If so are they even aware of what DCS has to offer? From some of the youtube videos FSX cant even begin to sniff what DCS has to offer. If the combat simmers exist for FSX and are hesitant in trying DCS what are they waiting for? GeorgeLKMT Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 what are they waiting for? Fast mover perhaps? Not everybody who likes to fly Superbug or Mudhen in FSX is going to throw that away just so he can fly A-10C. ;) ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
Raven68 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Fast mover perhaps? Not everybody who likes to fly Superbug or Mudhen in FSX is going to throw that away just so he can fly A-10C. ;) There is more than the A-10C in DCS, hence the FC3 aircraft. Unless the systems are fully modeled in those aircraft you mentioned, I cant see the lure. Is there any air or ground opposition within FSX? Dont get me wrong George I can see your point to a degree. :) It all comes down to preference in the end. I prefer DCS. From some of the youtube videos FSX cant even begin to sniff what DCS has to offer. If the combat simmers exist for FSX and are hesitant in trying DCS what are they waiting for? I think that there is a huge mass of people who just wanted to fly planes in the World in the first place. Flying a jet is a fantasm that can come true in FSX through an add-on, despite the fact you cannot employ weapons.

The problem with FSX is it gives people nerd rage configuring. One would think after so many versions of MSFS that eventually it would get optimized. Out of the box it's ugly and a pig. LM has a lot of work on it's hands making P3D 2.0 undoing over a decade of spaghetti code. I use P3D not because I like it but because it's a standard for many.

smnwrx Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 This may not be the most popular opinion and I want all the high fidelity aircraft i can get, but until multi crew is worked out I'm ok with waiting for the -15E
Ripcord Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 FSX is great for what it does. Not like you are going to get into your Yak-40 and fly regional airline routes from Tbilisi to, er... Batumi? Sochi? Min Vody? Nowhere else to fly really. And no need to disparage VRS for what they have done - no they haven't created a whole new sim out of it, just because there is no good tool to place opfor or other threats/objects to go against. I love it, but yet I really never fly it. Kinda hard to explain -- except to say that it is just not done. Gawd I wish we could merge FSX and DCS. My wife would never see me again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
skarden Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Yeah I agree with you Ripcord, I enjoy FSX a lot for what it does, which is let me fly some VERY HI fidelity aircraft anywhere in the world, experiencing real weather and fairly decent ATC to boot. I don't just love aircraft because they blow stuff up and FSX allows me to explore that as much as I like, sure I have spent a far bit of cash on it but t looks stunning and I get a hell of a lot of enjoyment from it. Of course that said I sure as hell will be getting this add on as well, I have the superbug with tacpack and this will be an excellent addition, I cant wait for FSX at war to get realised to go with them, whenever the hell that is.
