I pledged yesterday, I hope there's one heck-of-a push for the last two days! I wonder if that's common for kick starter projects -- kinda makes sense I guess.

 

With the announcement of Maddox games joining up (if that indeed is true -- I didn't read the whole thread), it seems the disparate parts of the flight simulation industry are in lead pursuit, and forming up behind the lead, our very own Eagle Dynamics/The Fighter Collection team!

Yes. Exactly. Before we started fundraiser campaign we already invested same amount of money for the MiG-21 project as we received by Indiegogo.

 

And that, I believe, is exactly what KI should do as well. If they had some money to spare (and I believe they had), they should invest it into early development and make something at least half-working. Then, they should open the Kickstarter campaign and say: "Look guys, we are working on F-35 sim, and this is what we've done so far. You can see that we have very nice results, but we need more money to make it to the finish."

 

Yes, that would mean risking their own money, but that's business. I'm no financial expert so feel free to prove me wrong, but I'm sure this approach would bring them much more money than they have now. If nothing else, they would have my money already.

They are investing their own money according to posts by them in here and the kickstart. This is to fill the "gap" from my understanding.

A'ight, have fun with this. I won't pay a dime for a thing like that, myself. Sell 'em as separate aircraft; that's fine. I'll buy the ones I want. But this exclusive-content thing--"premium members" and all that--no, not for me. And I trust that E.D. have the good sense not to dabble in that marketing gimmock stuff.

 

I think they would sell them as separate aircraft. They are in it to make money. I think you have to drop something like $100+ in the kickstarter to get this perk, so in effect they are buying multiple aircraft.

I can kind of see both sides of that issue. I was hoping that the module would be released with all three variants. However, I can also see how they might release them separately. I do hate playing games with "premium" benefits but in this case it's a bit different. When you pay full game price for a single air frame because it is highly detailed we're not talking about normal games. Also, people should be rewarded for taking a chance and putting up money early.

 

Sooooo, while I wish the KS would have been done slightly differently I'll patiently wait for this awesome module and hope that if they do sell them as separate modules that you can somehow get a "bundle" deal or something. Maybe buy one for full price and get a discount on the others or something like that. I'd be much more likely to buy more than one that way. If it's full price for each one no matter what I'll only be purchasing one.

 

But the bottom line is I only have one variant of the A-10 and the P-51 and the UH-1, the only difference is that most people won't really know the differences between the variants thus we only want the "latest and greatest". In the end I tend to agree with you even though I don't want to!

Ah sorry about the confusion. If it doesn't make it then nobody will get charged. As for those who pledged high enough to make it into OPEVAL, I don't know. I read somewhere in this thread that they're trying to come up with a solution for that.

Since we all know that the Kickstarter is not going to be funded, if KI set up a donation page I would still give them my pledge of $120. I believe in what they can do and still want to support the project.

 

While my pledge wasn't as generous as yours Scoggs, I agree on the donate option.

I'd love to see a STOVL version as well as carrier version. Lots of effort has already gone into the model. I'd like to see it in DCS.

Nothing. Money will only flow to them if they achieve the target which is looking rather unlikely unless some high rollers step in.

I hope KI doesn't lose heart at the kickstarter not working out. If this was any standard fighter aircraft I have no doubt the kickstarter would have been funded by now. Due to the type of aircraft it is there are understandably a lot of skeptical people who aren't going to invest money until they see whether KI can pull it off. Once something tangible gets shown and KI proves they can do it, I think this project will take off.

Although that will probably sound like music to a lot of Falcon BMS gamers, there seems to be quite a hardcore following for that game. Another free flight sim that keeps improving.

Technically, BMS isnt FREE, it requires a Copy of Falcon 4.
