For praise is: "Improved network play stability." for whole DCS community,

but it is disappointing - only advantage that Russian planes had - EOS, reduces feature by ED no matter how they justify.

Improved network play stability.

Track file are now automatically created when a crash is detected. In order to help the team find and correct MP issues that we are not always in position to produce during testing, 1.2.7 introduces the writing of tracks even when the game crashes. These tracks can be provided to the testers and developers in order to reproduce the conditions that caused the crash and correct it. This feature is a big step towards solving possible future and current problems that are often difficult to hunt down. When playing on a server and you experience a crash, put up an MP crash post and include that track in your post. Same thing goes for server owners.

I just had a rethink about how good this will be. While it will be good for some bug detection, how will it help with server crashes? Isn't it already well know that these crashes occur after a number of players connect to a server? If this is the case, then doesn't this already point to a problem with the number of players connecting? And how will lots of players sending a track file who all crash on one server help? I'm just curious, is it one person crashing the servers or the amount? Hope they get this bug squashed soon.

None of the above. Yes more players increases the probability of issues, but what exactly (as in what line(s) of code) is the route cause. That is what needs to be tracked down.

Although it is a preliminary changelog I was hoping for some more Huey features and bug fixes. EB-1 promised, although not in an official announcement, that the (non-beta) Huey would be released with the next patch, which back then would take a month or two. So even for a preliminary changelog I was expecting more than this.

I also hope to see that the final changelog includes some of the unfinished (side) projects, such as the Su-33 external, the Su-25T 6DOF cockpit and the AFM fast-movers.

Overall very happy of course to see that ED continues to dedicate themselves to my favourite sim

It´s so great that there is a new update coming, but the list reads a bit weird in my eyes. Overall lots of very useful fixes and additions that will greatly improve DCS, but some more important features or fixes mentioned long ago didn´t make this preleminary list (just like they didn´t make previous fixes). Guess one has to reserve final judgement until it´s released. Good work so far!

Still, I´m mainly looking forward to all the sexy stuff that´s supposed to come to DCS in the nearer future and that´s all being delayed for some reason...

ATC, Su-33, EDGE, MiG-21... :)

To be brutally frank, I'm not. First and foremost fix all the bugs and finish the betas and only then move on IMO! Not that the two are always 100% mutually exclusive by all means though, but still...

There were stated in various threads that a big update is coming. In my perspective that update will contain some new AFM's, a dedicated server, maybe even Nevada, and of course the most acclaimed Mig21 (even is not direct related to ED updates). So, this is not that upgrade for sure.

But this update brings one of the most important things and the best approach that can be done: multiplayer error logging option. Despite all other fixes, error tracking is the THING. Not all of us have a high programing degrees and most of explantations hides important things. That logging,if it will be correctly debugged will give a more clear picture of what is going wrong.

So guys, give some faith we are on the right way!

What´s so brutal about that? :) You are right in saying that they are not mutually exclusive. BST is probably not involved in bug fixing the DCS core. I´d love to see their modules finished, too. No word on anything there yet though... (fingers crossed)

MP stability has been a big issue for a long time and the new track recording finally offers great opportunities for the devs in keeping up with pesky bugs. Those and other things constitue the ground work for the more visible features to build on. Now this has been worked on for a long time and is supposedly in place for some part, so I can´t help but think about other stuff that´s been advertised.

The ATC is another core concern for DCS ...or finally ridding CA of its game breaking AI bugs (I didn´t metion that one before). Those still fall within the bug fixing regime, but still have much more visible (hence "sexy") impact on gameplay. I don´t just care about new graphics and modules and don´t you tell me you are not looking forward to those too ;)

I'm just wondering about something, I understand that Wags mentioned the F-15C AFM several times, posted a video of the F-15C landing with the new AFM, posted that load of info that got deleted and not long ago he posted that they are still working on it, with the feedback of a real F-15 pilot. All good, hopefully the AFM will be out within the next 2 to 3 months. :)

However... why are there people talking about the SU-27 AFM? As I understand Wags mentioned it a few times, saying that there would be one but there's been nothing about the actual development, no news or anything that would lead me to believe that they're anywhere near an advanced stage of development on that AFM... or did I miss something? :)

This update is good. Not too much changed in base code and added more logging to try and find the MP instability. This is important! I’m also looking forward to do some serious smoking in the MiG-29

I'm a bit sad about the Rockeye being taken out of the game it seems, the Mk-20 is one of my favourite weapons for the A-10A, I actually miss it in the A-10C although I accept the explanation that the A-10C doesn't use it IRL.

Otherwise I'm fine with the changelog, some things are even exciting. :)
