bojangles_25 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I just dropped my headset and broke my Track-clip pro... its well and truly busted unless I hash it together with tape like some sort of peasant. Looks like an order of £35 from NaturalPoint In need of sim-sympathy brothers :( "We could come back with hydraulics shot out, half the tail shot off, piece of the wing shot off, we had two engines and could come home with one... She really was a piece of machinery that you could fly into hell and back... And she was designed around that gun from day 1"
Hobo Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I broke mine at both joints. I did the electrical tape repair and so far so good. The only thing you have to be concerned with is finding the exact placement from your headset.

Looks like an order of £35 from NaturalPoint In need of sim-sympathy brothers :( bummer dude! did your trackir at least come with the hat clip as well? bojangles_25 Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Yeah I bought the pro-bundle that came with the hat track clip, which is fine, but its frustrating that NaturalPoint charges so much for something so flimsy.. joey45 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 It's too flimsy. That's how they get the money, make stuff that will brake to easily. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Lucky Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) My trackclip pro broke over a year ago. I taped it together and it's fine. I refuse to give Naturalpoint another penny until they redesign the cheap pro clip. I have TIR 5 and am perfectly happy with it. Hellfire257 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 They're so flimsy! Mine is held together by superglue, tape and a little bit of magic.
ApoNOOB Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 The best advise regarding those things I read on these forums: "Don't even look at it wrong!" But its fine taped also... :P Like others said, don't buy another, that is wasted money - you will breathe on it at somepoint and it will fall apart. =)
SFAL Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Ha! Broke mine yesterday Just at the top spiner. Got some duct tape out a craft knife and fixed it. I have to say becouse i even tapeed it to the headset its even better now. I agree that the quality is flimsy but it was never ment to be strong....just becouse thats hiw NP makes some revanue. I would like to have aluminium ones but thag would cost too much. If none of you seen The Lightbulb Conspiracy and know what planed obsolecence is then youtube it. Well worth watching it
sslechta Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 They're so flimsy! Mine is held together by superglue, tape and a little bit of magic. Super glue here too. I think mine broke in the first few days I owned it. I've had it 9 months now and just re-apply the super glue every couple of months. Despite how fragile it is, I still like it better for tracking than the hat clip. Looks like an order of £35 from NaturalPoint In need of sim-sympathy brothers :( Why anyone buys this rubbish is beyond me. For one it's nowhere near as solid as the cao clip and for two it doesn't work aswell as the cap clip. Also, you don't have to have the cap clip attached to a cap, I just stuck mine on the top of my head set and it has worked fine there for years.
HiJack Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Well, mine have not broken and I’ve had it for years! So I guess it has something to do with the user also?

It works much better than cap clip, i have cap clip and track clip. More accurate etc.. But you have to move your track ir so its same side than clip. Not center of screen etc.. HiJack Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Yes, you also need to check the "TrackClipPro" button under basic settings. Then the Track clip pro works best :D
cichlidfan Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 ... and for two it doesn't work aswell as the cap clip. Please elaborate on the ways in which the hat clip works better than the pro-clip, in terms of function not durability. sslechta Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Indeed there are, and I can't think of one case where the hat clip is better. I agree with you. Hat clip is just a reflector. cichlidfan Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) I agree with you. Hat clip is just a reflector. Though if they replaced the existing reflective surfaces with similar sized spherical reflectors it would work better. bojangles_25 Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 The main reason I used the pro clip is because the camera has to be in a different mode, which I think is lower sensitivity which means it doesn't detect the IR noise coming through my window on bright days. If the PC was in a better place it wouldn't be an issue but I can't easily move it to face away from the window. In terms of actual tracking I think the pro clip is better for looking down, but its not that much different "We could come back with hydraulics shot out, half the tail shot off, piece of the wing shot off, we had two engines and could come home with one... She really was a piece of machinery that you could fly into hell and back... And she was designed around that gun from day 1"
