I'm starting to think that we have it all wrong. I think that DCS was neither meant to be a flight simulator nor a combat simulator. DCS is a Flight/Combat Simulator Simulator The fun isn't actually flying/combatting, the "fun" is actually getting the simulator to function properly; the software IS the game. User mods are just extra "quests" to complete to get/keep the game running. Every now and then ED will throw in maps or EA modules that just barely work -- just to keep everyone playing the actual game of getting the software running properly -- again. Think that indie hacker game where you actually had to code in a console to play the game... Thank you. I'm off the soapbox now. TLDR: There is more activity in these forums about how to fix, enhance, modify and overcome faults than there is actually FLYING and using the sim for it's purpose. If ED doesn't see the previous sentence as the WHOLE issue here, then we're all doomed. DOOMED, I tell you.

I got that pattern as well on the very first mission I loaded to check out v 2.0 . Murphy's law an all. Screen below. This is how "Broken cumulus no rain 1" preset looks like when clouds quality is set to "high". What setting do you use on your PC? There seems to be an issue with that single layer only, but it's being used in a couple of other presets as well, isn't it?

Ah, I was wrong about something, the missus will be pleased . Shame about the wind on Sunday, some good as there was enough space to mooch around in, relaxed a bit. That fighter balbo’s getting better every year I think? Ain’t we lucky . Mrs Slippa got a bit choked for a bit there, it does get ya. I know what you mean about the line-up, what to shoot? Spoilt for choice. Years ago I’d have my eye glued to a viewfinder filming the lot but too much of that and you miss just experiencing it all. I do a lot more mooching about and chatting now. I only got a few shots of the balbo this time as Mrs Slippa wandered off with my long lens and I got busy chatting with the fella about the workshop. We’d walked down from the West by the Rapide flights, watched the ground rehearsal for a bit before they went up.

Liveries taking up too much space for planes I don't even own.
Czar replied to MoCluck's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This failed. DCS does not recognize .zip/compressed liveries inside Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>, the same way liveries are compressed inside DCS<rootfolder>/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries. If there is a way to do it on another folder, I'm not aware. -

Great, thanks for your feedback. -
I wonder what would happen then if in TP/TP CC/Helm, and you turn on interaction. You lock a friendly. The laser is on so radar STT’s and locks itself. Then, with this friendly l locked with IRST and radar but in a TP mode, you turn on the switch to not lock any friendlies, would it drop lock? Perhaps the system knows the IFF from the radar despite not displaying it?

Someone mentioned before that the Oil cooler shutter control switch and Intercooler shutter control switch are wrong way round. The controls should be in line with each other horizontally but right now, they're crisscrossed. If someone has more information to confirm that would be nice. Same thing can be seen in some pictures and videos of the cockpit like in this one at 09:20. Yes, I know it's a razorback but it should still be the same in other variants as far as I know. I just confirmed that in DCS they are crisscrossed.

DCS World 2025 Screenshots and Video Thread
Gunfreak replied to ST0RM's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Doing something I rarely do, practice! I saw a little photo session on using the HAD to locate SAMs and then use the TPOD, never thought about doing that, as I find HARMs very very boring and almost never use them, I've almost never flown with the HAD. So apparently it has more uses than just firing boring HARMs. Never used the JSOWs either as people keep saying they suck. And they do that indeed. I now almost always run with splash damage script running, the latest versions, not only tune damage from bombs etc., but adds some great looking visual effects too. Though I think you have to "turn on" cluster bomb improvements, which I haven't done. Anyway, ran my little training mission twice, first time, didn't go well, hence the close up of the Buk 11 in one of the pictures, in the second go it went much better, both the SA6 and Buk11 got taken out by JSOW spam, 4 from me and 4 from my wingman. Some launchers still standing, but all radars are gone. -

Am I the only one having this problem and I miss something (I'd like to know what)? @+ -
Hello ED Team, Three years ago, I reported that the P-51D Mustang pilot model was missing an oxygen mask, which at the time was accepted as a bug. I understand that recently it was mentioned that this issue would be considered more of a “model improvement” rather than a bug. To avoid further confusion for both sides, I would like to confirm: Is this issue still listed under the bug category, or has it been formally reclassified as an improvement? If it is now considered an improvement, is there a public record or tracker where the community can verify its current status? My only goal is to clarify the status of the report and avoid misunderstandings in the future. Thank you for your clarification.

P-51D-25 - Joystick/Keyboard & Briefing/Load screen image... gone!
Bowie replied to Bowie's topic in General Bugs
Well... Decided to archive the User folder, and uninstall/reinstall DCS 2.9 fresh, down to the desktop icon. Threw out all the folders. Two massive D/L's and ~ 18 hrs. Everything is working properly now and am resetting Options, and then will add back User folders and mods, w/ periodic checks for anomalies. Old install was from 2020? Lots of water under the DCS bridge since. Bowie -

Thank you for the fleshed out answer. That was pretty much what I assumed. It doesn’t matter. I’m still absolutely hyped for the Modul. Any chance for new(er) info on a release date?

The radar does have a weather mode, but its mostly used for A/G / low level flight. The weather radar is actually one of the very few things in the plane that isnt modeled, but the DCS weather system at the moment just isn't fleshed out enough to make it a good experience. You wouldn't like what you saw on the display...

The 2,1° offset places the localizer centerline (CL) pretty much down the center of the Målselv valley. Here's a crude illustration made in google earth: 1: The CL, offset 2,1° from the runway centerline. 2/3: the outer limits of the course sector (CS). The course sector is the region defined by the maximum left and right deflection (5 dots in the ADI/cross pointer) of the LOC bar in the ADI, with the deflection decreasing linearly as you approach the CL. Max deflection = ±15,5% (or 150μA) DDM. The CS for Bardufoss LOC 28 is 5°, i.e. 2,5° to each side of the CL. 4/5: The outer limits of the course signal (±10°). Between 2-4 and 3-5, the ADI will show full left/right deflection. 6/7: The outer limits of the clearence sector (only applicable for dual frequency/capture effect localizers). The clearence signal can be seen as an extension of what I described in the previous paragraph, giving a full deflection ADI. Having no offset would place the CL and CS too close to the mountain to the right of the #3 line.
